Do you think they should have put more time into the Clem and Luke relationship
No not that stupid Cluke bull shit. I mean in the earlier episodes they were making him the next version of Lee but more of a big bro type. Then they dropped all momentum they had with Luke and his character and replaced him with Jane... poorly... and tried to make Kenny the next Lee which was ineffective. I would have rather had Kenny just stay Kenny. But I digress what I mean is do you think Telltale could have built on a Clem and Luke friendship instead of this rushed Jane crap?

Yeah I do, I think they did a good job in episode 2 creating a brother and sister bond between the two but then it felt like Telltale tried to replace that bond with Jane but it never worked for me because I just saw her as a 'replacement Luke' and Luke is my favourite character so yeah, wasn't happy about that!
I think that if Telltale made the final episode a 'Luke vs Kenny' one then they would have given him a bit more development and like quite a few people have said, made the choice harder since Jane was thrown in in Episode 3 whereas Luke has been with us since the first episode. Since Telltale had already created a bond between Clementine and Luke it would have been easier for them to want to make people choose him rather than almost 'shove bonding with Jane down our throats'. They could have created an interesting relationship between Clementine and Luke and although I don't think Luke was like the new Lee they could have made Luke and Clementines realtionship different by having them look out for eachother in a sibling way rather than have Luke be a 'guardian' to Clementine, he could have been more of a friend and companion since Clementine had grown up and matured so she doesn't really need anyone to take care of her as such but she needs someone to watch her back.
Yes, I've actually ranted about this before.
Someone needs to tell Telltale writers that a character standing with Clem and being somewhat nice doesn't compensate for characterisation and forming relationships
No, I didn't like Luke from the start and nothing would have changed that.
You're all over the threads today xD
Why? What didn't you like about him?
It's almost 3 in the morning...
Must stay awake until 6 as I am the neighbourhood rooster.
But in all seriousness I don't check these forums often so I must leave my plague each time I visit.
Jane was awful though and it feels like she just wondered into the story
At first he didn't want to help Clem because he thought she was bitten by a walker, then he did nothing to help her when she was locked in the shed. And when Kenny came back, I couldn't care less about Luke.
She literally did.
She just wondered up and said...
"Actually I do it all the time".
I like how Luke still had sex with her after what she did to Troy... And everyone knows that she was having sex with Troy.
The brother-sister bonding between Clementine and Luke in Episode 1 and 2 felt like a breath of fresh air over the continuous father-daughter relationship trope I've seen in the year 2014 in games such as Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, The Walking Dead Season 1 (though it worked better than most games), and so on.
I was getting a little tired to see the same idea with overprotective father figurees paired up with a non-daughter girl over and over, and it was too bad that Telltale decided to abruptly drop the brother-sister link and force yet another father-daughter figure with Kenny and clumsily introduced an sister-sister dynamic with Jane.

You can bet your sweet avatar butt they should've done!
That sibling dynamic was one of my favorite character interactions within Season 2, if one of the strongest alongside Kenny's, and they just completely hecked that up. Why do you think I hate Luke's death so much? They had something so, so good there and they wasted not just that, but Luke's character too who became meaningless. It's not about if he would've died in the end anyway, it was that his purpose didn't amounted to anything, and I would've prefered if he'd died in some form of decision between him and Kenny than in a lake nobody had to cross in the first place. As it is, for me that decision between Kenny and Jane wasn't difficult at all.
Imagine if they'd done that in Season 1, where you befriend this young girl named Clementine, then about the halfway point the game fazes her out to the background and you're teamed up with Duck who you only just meet in Episode 3, and then from then on out, you're stuck with him, you know, the little boy who barely said anything in his debut episode and who you've barely known a few days out of that week together? And then suddenly BOOM you're making this life and death decision with him despite only getting rushed family bonding time with the kid in Episode 4 to 5 that consisted of him just chattering on about a dead father whenever in your presence because that's the only thing he can connect with you to.
I don't hate Jane [I did once, but I've long since warmed up to her] but her dynamic with Clementine just wasn't as strong or as good and if you went in and took out all the back story on her dead sister, there is very little within those interactions that ties her to Clementine, and they didn't have that strong a bond like siblings [If anything, it seemed more like Jane attaching herself onto Clem.] But again as I've said in the past, I mostly blame this on the fact we haven't known Jane long enough and their interactions are rushed in that it feels very forced. The big problem is though that many of the scenes in the finale with Jane's role within it [even if it wasn't intentional] it really did feel as though they just putting her in what should've been Luke's place and just didn't succeeded. In fact, I'd guess about 80% of Jane's role within the finale, Luke could've been put into easy, with just some dialogue changes along the way.
Clementine and Luke's friendship/sibling dynamic worked so much better, even despite very vague details on Luke's past. Maybe that's what was so good about them, in that it was solely their banter and how well the characters worked off each other that sold it for me as this older brother and this younger sister, and if Episode 4 had kept focus on Luke, that could've been the perfect episode to actually reveal more about him [like what happened to his family and why he's so dedicated to look out for the group] but instead all that attention got moved over to Jane and that platonic friendship just flatline and developed no further than it already was.
So yes, I may come off as crybaby on here sometimes, but I do have my reasons for it I honestly believe if they had just stuck with that precious little gem they had brewing there, the last half of the season would've worked out better with Luke instead of Jane there. I would've been more convinced at Kenny getting pissed at Luke because they didn't get off to a good start, and I would've been sold more Luke's reasons for wanting to look out for Clem and A.J...but not hiding a baby, because hiding a baby in ZA in a middle of a blizzard just to tick off a fisherman is never a good idea. Come on Jane! x_x
I've said my piece >.< for now.
Fair enough, it is your opinion. He did defend her though afterwards like in the house meeting he said that that they should let her out of the shed and help her. True, he was a jerk at first but I can't blame him, if I was carrying a little girl that had a massive bite on her arm who was just surrounded by walkers I would think she was bitten too.
Aww glad you like my avatar . I agree with what you said about the character inconsistencies. Imagine how bad it would be if Lee's character change was that bad. The game definitely wouldn't have been the same so I guess we'll never know if Luke could have been something.
(?) Luke's dick won't remember this, he's too in wuuuv.
This is beautiful. Please make more.
It's not mine, it's Tuna who drew it

I was hoping to talk to him more when Clem gets pulled in the comic book store Ep 3. It would have been cool to have a "continue to talk to Luke" option or "continue working" choice when Troy calls Clem out. A nice chat with Luke, but you get bitched at by Carver later if you have been missing a while or get the comic book villain speech from Carver if you continue to work.
What's done is done. I couldn't care less about his relationship with Clementine. The reason I'm pissed off is because Luke could have been an amazing protagonist in Season 3. Like I said, I don't want to keep playing as this raging 11 year old douchebaguette but I also don't want to play as an entirely new character. Luke would have been perfect. Killing him off has shattered every ounce of hope that I had in this game redeeming itself.
I just LOVE how people keep blaming Jane for Luke's death. What makes you think that she was supposed to be a replacement for Luke? If you want to blame someone then blame Kenny and the idiot who decided it was a good idea to bring him back. Did it not occur to you that the final choice could not have had Kenny in it at all? A Jane/Luke choice would have been a much better option IMO. Now that's something I would consider a hard choice. But no, Telltale's determination in satisfying Kenny's childish fanbase has resulted in incorporating Kenny's character in almost every aspect of the game. At cost of ruining the game for 90% of fans who couldn't care less about Kenny or his wounded warrior crap.
Kenny's fanbase has ruined this game. Crying about Luke, Nick or any other character for that matter won't make a difference now. You should have been vocal about it BEFORE they decided to dedicate this season to Kenny's fanbase only.
Ouch, that's harsh.
I may not be a fan of Kenny myself, but I wouldn't say that his fandom ruined Season 2. If anything the writers themselves are responsible for the controversy.
Uhhh, what? When has anyone ever blamed Jane for Luke's death? It's always Bonnie who people are blaming for Luke's death, not Jane.
Jane replaced Luke I can see why people were upset with the way he died.
The writers are to blame for taking their opinions into account while ignoring the others. They done fucked up seeing as 90% of Kenny's fanbase are children which means they don't even fall into this game's demographics. It's an M rated game and anyone below 17 should not be allowed to post on these forums now that all of their games are M rated. It just creates havoc & confusion.
You're way out of line to say who should and shouldn't post on the forums. We all support Telltale
No, I'm not. This game is rated M for a reason. Ratings exist for a reason. Parents exist for a reason.
I don't blame Jane for Luke's death it just felt to me that Telltale were using her as a replacement for Luke, it was pretty obvious that Telltale wanted to copy the sibling dynamic created by Clementine and Luke and use it between Jane and Clementine - In episode 4, Jane kept going on about sisters and it just felt like they were trying a bit too hard with creating that bond and it felt forced, but I'm sure that some people liked it.
So yeah, this forced bond between the two and the thought that Telltale was trying to replace Luke with Jane made me not want to appreciate her character (and grow to dislike her after episode 5) I just think that a choice between Luke and Kenny would have been more affective since Telltale had already created the bond between Clementine and Luke and we actually knew we could trust Luke, sure we could trust Jane as well but she abandoned us, how do we know she wont do it again? In contrast, Luke travels with no food and no sleep just to try and save the group; that's the guy I would have wanted to look out for Clementine, not the girl that could abandon us at any moment.
Luke was pretty boring imo, his nice guy routine was giving me a headache. I personally liked Nick or Sarah. They were more interesting to me because of their faults.
Anyone mature enough to handle a concept should be allowed those privileges
I agree. But just take a look at some of the users on this forum. That's all I'm going to say.
They aren't talking responsibility for his death, they mean in the sense that people thought it would be Kenny vs. Luke, but then they decided to not go that route instead opting for Kenny vs. Jane so they believe that Luke was drowned to make that story possible.
I don't agree with this theory at all to be honest, it sounds to simplified with no actual evidence to support it.
Ohh I see, even then though there's no actual evidence supporting that so I don't agree with it either. Thanks though, bruh
Fair point
Yeah but the Kenny vs Jane thing? That reached unspeakably shitty writing heights
Telltale did not have time to develop much of anything essentially dealing with four games at once. As much as Luke was my favorite cabin member, I don't think there was really much substance to him. Honestly other than Nick (and Pete maybe), I don't much to delve into with them.
Telltale had bigger plans for them but they were foiled by Kenny. The problem with Nick is the same with his Uncle he died too soon
I agree. Nick was especially awesome. I would've preferred a sibling relationship with him to be honest. Luke never really resonated with me.
That was one thing that disappointed me. I loved their funny little friendship moments, and their overall relationship, but then by episode three it cut off completely.
No. I disliked Luke throughout the whole season and the relationship seemed forced by the writers.
idk, luke wasnt likable at all so like, idk
I tried to get to know luke, i really did, but he has nothing, zip zap bippity bap
But Jane and Clem at the last second? Is that really good writing?
And you know this...how, exactly?
