*shrugs* So what if they're overrated? That doesn't necessarily mean that they're bad characters as such.

I think that Stan was at his best in the first 2 games (when he was super hyper and constantly waving his arms around - though he didn't have quite as much energy in the later games, but I was still delighted to find him making a comeback in every game!) and Murray was awesome in CMI, turning up at the most random of times - plus he was funny too, the script writers and voice actor did a great job.

I have faith in Telltale. If they choose to bring the characters back, they will do it well. I'd actually love to see Stan returning in TMI, especially if he resembles the overly-insane Stan we saw in SMI and MI2.

Stan has always been one of my favorites, but I was never too high on Murray. That said, I want to see them both at some point in the new game.

Stan is a litlle bit boring.

Murray, in the other hand, RULES !!! :-) i would like to see him in TOMI

Murray should be the figurehead of Guybrush's ship. Taunting and terrifying anyone who gets near or whoever Guybrush chases!

Murray was comedy gold in 3. He had no role except fanservice in 4 and he should've been cut or re-implemented into the game with a large or at least somewhat relevant role. Same deal for Stan really.

If Telltale can't think of good uses for them, the world wouldn't end. I'd prefer cut characters than crappy appearances.

Although I wouldn't be shocked to see Largo reappear.

But the three headed monkey isn't, i mean, overrated.

What's with everyone's infatuation with these two characters? There are countless other characters I'd rather see return in TOMI than either of them.

    oh yeah well... well...

    Your overrated!

All of the sequels have been about running gags... Bringing back characters has always been fun...at least amusing. How many times have we seen Herman? Otis and Carla? Lemonhead? Pirates of Low Moral Fibre? Wally? They always have PLENTY of new characters in each game, but using Murray and Stan for small one-time puzzles...why the hell not? It's part of the Monkey Island experience!

    WHAT?!!!

I suppose that The Pirates of Low Moral Fiber would be a good comeback, but NOT BRING BACK MURRAY OR STAN? Stan's been in every game, and Murray had too little a part in MI4 to just be completely ignored... same with Stan.

Well... That's kinda the point, really.
As i said, murray IS a great character. But as any character, you've gotta have some use for him... Which wasn't the case in EMI, and that's why he basically sucked in there.
I'm in no way AGAINST seeing him again, i just don't want him squeezed in "just because he's so cool". THIS would just suck.
No matter how awesome he was in CMI (and yes, he sure WAS awesome).
It all depends on the setting, really. In CMI, they found a great way to introduce him, they designed the character well, then decided it would be funny to use him later in the game... Right, it was all pretty well done and FITTED in the game (does "fitted" actually exist ? Or is it just "fit" even in the past tense ? can't remember. who cares?)
Now in EMI you can definitely tell he's been put in just because fans had loved him... I dunno, he just had nothing to do there and it wasn't funny and it felt forced.
Hence my basic opinion... I kinda trust telltales as far as writing a good story now, so if they find a REAL opportunity to bring back murray, then by all means, run for it.
If not, or if "oh, i guess he could be there but would that actually add anything" or whatever, then it's better just to leave him alone.
Good characters rule, but good character spoiled because they're used badly is just depressing.
