Did they ever explain how Michonne's Walker trick worked?

Like when she chops off two zombies arms and jaws and ties them and she pulls them around while they follow. Why don't other walkers attack michonne? I mean cant walkers smell if somebody is a walker or not?

In the comic she has walker guts all over her so it makes sense but in the show who knows, the walkers have the strength of ten men or can be knocked over depending on the situation.

In the game the zombies ignore doug and lee do all manner of things outside the store yet they get alerted by next to nothing after that

  • The flaws of the walking dead. I just brought this up because I was watching the episode "After" and she had two walker "pals" and she had no walker guts on her she was walking right next to a hoard and they ignored her

  • Maybe it was because since the two walkers she had with her weren't attacking her, the others didn't? :P
Some sort of "when in Rome" kinda thing?

in one of the episodes when her and Andrea are inside Woodbury, Milton explains why her tricked worked. They essentially worked as camouflage, but by removing the arms and lower jaw (the primary mechanisms required for them to feed) they became docile. He kind of explains it like, since the Walkers don't have a means to feed anymore they're not interested in doing so
