  • Hey guys! I just made a fanfic but it's not going to be your typical Hunger Games fanfiction. In my story, the last tribute who wins gets an actual prize and all choices will have direct effect to your character and story. The prizes consist of a £100 ASOS Gift Card and a £100 Urban outfitters gift card. If you don't like those prizes you can sell them on Amazon or something :p (well it depends if you win or not :3) + I'm not doing the Reapings and all that. I'm going straight into the Games. https://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/95243/the-hunger-games-the-real-competition?new=1

  • Eva Lilac, 12 - District 11 - Train Ride

Although inside I feel like bawling and screeching for hours on end, I manage to keep a brave face – not dropping a single tear since the escort called my name. Suomaf, my partner, seems also to be quite courageous, him as well not crying or sobbing, maybe he could go far. For me, however, I know I’m going to die.

Seeder and Chaff, our mentors, are polar opposites. Seeder is caring and thoughtful, whereas Chaff is realistic and moody. Perhaps he’s already tired of watching a pair of children die each year. However, neither of them give me much hope.

“Okay, assets are that you, Eva, are very agile and you will be able to run fast and hide. Use that, I did,” Seeder informs and I nod my head, “Suomaf maybe you could learn how to fight with weapons, if not, run. Anything to add, Chaff?” Seeder’s head turns to her broader partner.

Chaff looks at me, “I want you to make people underestimate you,” Chaff starts, “I want you to earn people’s trust, just for you to murder them,” his voice is threatening and bland and it’s unnerving, “can you do that?”

I feel my eyes widen and I hastily narrow them to hide my fear. I don’t answer him – I don’t want to seem weak by saying no, but I don’t think I could kill someone. “Chaff, don’t put her under such pressure,” Seeder scolds. Chaff relaxes into his Chaff, his eyes stuck on me.

“What about you Suomaf? Could you kill someone?” He asks and Suomaf eagerly nods with a valiant expression, admitting if it meant saving me. Fortunately I don’t blush, that would be embarrassing, but Suomaf’s green eyes lay themselves on me uncomfortably. “You’re in luck,” Chaff finishes.

I find myself lowering my head, keeping my eyes on the thick, wooden table. Chaff burly structure and cruel attitude is distressing and part of me is actually anticipating the Games so I can escape him.

“That is enough,” Seeder finishes and turns her voice into a mutter, “she is just twelve years old, Chaff, grow up.” I respect Seeder greatly. Even after her Games she stayed true to herself, not resorting to some kind of relief or becoming mean and unemotional. If I had any chance of winning, Seeder is the sort of victor I would aspire to be, but I’m too emotionally weak, I know it.

Outside the window, I see plain grassland. I already miss the fields and orchids of District 11. Sometimes I would sneak away and just relax on the high branches of oak trees, where the Peacekeepers can’t see me, during which I would constantly worry they would find me. Even as a child, my younger sisters and I would hide and play in the tall wheat fields. I’m going to miss them.

“Also, Suomaf, Eva, I’ve looked at the most recent past arenas and concluded what I suspect this year may be,” Seeder announces and I perk up. “The most recent have been a tropical rainforest, small town and a beach. Perhaps this year we will see something dry – like a mountain range, desert, you know.” Luckily for me, I work in hot, dry conditions everyday so perhaps I have an edge, but these were just Seeder’s predictions.

After talking to Seeder and Chaff for another hour about strategies, my eyes grow heavy. I know I want to sleep, but Friida, District Eleven’s escort, informed me that we were nearing the Capitol. Instead, I enter the food carriage of the train, where I see Suomaf.

“Oh, hi, Eva,” Suomaf greets, lowering his eyes, a faint blush colouring his cheeks. I sit next to him and tear a chunk of bread from a loaf and chew it until it gently melts in my mouth. The taste is disappointing in comparison to District Eleven’s bread, but I’m hungry. “Are you going to miss your family?” Suomaf asks and I nod my head, uncomfortable. I try to block Suomaf out and focus on eating, but he is very persistent. Chaff and Seeder join us, unaware we were in here.

“Well hi,” Seeder starts, “you guys best be getting ready, we’re entering the Capitol shortly.” I look at Seeder and nod my head. She smiles back at me and I notice she’s missing a tooth at the back of her mouth. It’s probably from her Games. A constant reminder.

“I might go for a nap, is that okay?” I ask Seeder, who says yes, however Chaff interrupts her, mocking me, calling me a child for needing to go for a nap. I glare at him, hoping to anger him, but he laughs in my face, saying my glare looks like I’m about to fall asleep, maybe it’s true.

“Chaff, stop,” Seeder demands, slamming her hand onto the desk, rattling some plates, causing Chaff to grunt and exit. “Eva, if you want to sleep, then go, ignore him, he’s upset,” Seeder finishes, sitting down abruptly.

It's great that this amazing story is back :D

[Get ready for arriving in the Capitol]

I think it's best to leave Chaff alone and she will have enough time to sleep later. For now I guess it could be the best to get ready for arriving in the capitol, so that she might make a good first impression on the Capitol residents.

I agree with Liquid here. Chaff might have a change in heart once we arrive the Capitol.. Hopefully. Plus, appearance to the citizens of the Capitol is top priority!

  • Foxglove Soot, 18 - District 12 - Train Ride

Haymitch Abernathy, District Twelve’s second victor, and Canare Juniper, District Twelve’s first victor, welcome Yuko and I onto the train. Haymitch seems particularly cold – his eyes distant and void of joy. Canare, however, seems much happier. I believe it’s related to how Yuko and I are 18 and Haymitch won last, as a 16 year old, so we have more of a chance.

Sitting opposite Haymitch and Canare, there is a brief pause. Canare’s wrinkled mouth is grinning at us both, “Okay, I’m very confident we can pull another win, right? Yuko, what can you do?” Canare beams.

“More like what can’t I do? You know, me being a District Twelve girl,” Yuko snorts arrogantly. She turns her head to me and smiles, a hint of desire in her eyes. I don’t take my eyes off of her – she’s beautiful. Canare leans over the table and slaps Yuko’s cheek, interrupting our intense gaze. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting her amber eyes any time soon.

“Listen, I don’t want you two fucking up,” Canare snaps, “last year, Haymitch and Maysilee were the perfect tributes and they both should have won, together,” I notice Haymitch wince at the mention of Maysilee, it’s sad to witness. Canare continues, “Now you two will replicate them and one of you will win. You’ll be sponsored by many people as last year was won by a Twelve tribute, so don’t make people regret it.”

I stare intently at Canare. I can imagine as a young adult, some people may have thought she was attractive, but her olive skin has creased uncontrollably and her grey hair has frayed. Haymitch, however, hadn’t changed much in the last year, other than his constant sullen look.

“Hopefully, you won’t fail like the other two last year: Cinda and Krisk,” Canare says, “you know, the two who fell in love with each other,” I feel as though she is hinting at me and Yuko, but I can confirm I will not fall in love with Yuko, maybe just a onetime fling. Yuko smirks at Canare patronisingly. “Avoid all other tributes, no alliances and no talking to the Careers especially,” Canare informs, “Haymitch, anything to add?”

“Do not trust the arena,” Haymitch quickly adds, almost painfully quick, “the arena is more dangerous than the tributes.” Canare looks at him sympathetically, but too afraid to physically comfort him. Shortly after, Canare dismisses Yuko and I and we both retreat to her room.

“So, should we make allies with other tributes?” Yuko smirks deviously. I laugh at her and agree. Canare is probably going senile. “Maybe even the Careers,” she expands, “they could probably take us, with Haymitch winning last year,” Yuko is going to get us in so much trouble, but I love it. I just want to kiss her and run my fingers through her bobbed, red hair.

Yuko grabs the remote close to her wooden bed and switches on the television. On the television, we see Caesar Flickerman and Claudius Templesmith, both as ridiculous looking as ever, I almost want to yawn and leave, but I want to stay with Yuko. They’re showing the reapings and Yuko starts getting excited.

“Oh, oh! She’s so pretty,” Yuko describes the girl from One, “it’s shame she’s so young and weak,” she cackles. “Look at how hot the boys from One and Two are,” she practically swoons. She says the girl from Two looks weak and pathetic, but I don’t think Yuko saw her trip and attack another girl to volunteer. Yuko bellows at the girl from Three who is pushed by another girl and I almost pity her, but I don’t. In fact, I don’t think I would even care if I killed her.

“Look at him trying to be confident, how feeble!” Yuko giggles about the boy from Three. Her ruthless attitude is annoyingly arousing, but I focus on the other tributes. The tributes from Four seem as usually typical and boring – tough boy and tough girl ready to take on the world. Yuko comments on the girl from Five, mocking her crying and being escorted to the stage, but doesn't mention anything about the boy... It’s understandable, he looks very strong and threatening.

“A volunteer?! From Six?!” Yuko says, shocked. It’s true, a volunteer from Six is about as rare as a volunteer from Twelve, but there we have it, a tall, muscular boy volunteering. The girl looks as weak as the girls from Three and Five, not a good year for the females at all. Just then, the girl from Seven appears on the screen and I’m ready to eat up my words. She’s incredibly tall and toned; she could definitely overpower me and Yuko. Empathetically, Yuko doesn’t comment on the tributes from Seven, the siblings. However, Yuko looks impressed by the sister volunteering.

“The tributes from Eight look good this year,” Yuko continues, “and the girl from Nine.” The tributes from Ten appear on the screen and they look tough as well. Hopefully, if neither me or Yuko win, someone from the outlying districts will. The tributes from Eleven are embarrassing. The girl is sobbing and the boy is frozen, how tragic for them.

Yuko switches the screen off before it comes to our reaping. “I'm sorry, it’s just I don’t want to see that.” I nod understandingly, I don’t think I want to see it either, but I'm still curious. “Maybe we should go to sleep... Or something else?” Yuko gazes into my eyes and my heart begins racing.

  • Eudoxia Gronicks - Tribute Parade

“Eudoxia!” my assistant, Haille, calls, “I have the tribute reports ready! These are the tributes you should watch out for – they could pull a stunt like Haymitch Abernathy last year,” she finishes before handing me a sheet with 10 names. I see the tributes from 1, 4, 7 and 12 are on here as well as the girl from 5 and the boy from 6. “The tributes from 1 share a mutual family member – Sprinkle’s sister is Ruby’s partner, the tributes from 4 were talking inaudibly during their reaping, perhaps trying to overthrow the games? Especially considering the boy volunteered,” Haille informs me, “the tributes from 7 are siblings, always dangerous and obviously Haymitch Abernathy could be giving the tributes from 12 some nasty ideas. The girl from 5 resisted the Peacekeepers and even attacked one and the boy from 6 volunteered which is a rarity.”

I nod at Haille in thanks and she waves, “Good luck at the tribute parade, Eudoxia!” I smile weakly and leave her.

“Welcome, everybody, welcome!” Caesar Flickerman cheers, his hair a freshly dyed blinding turquoise. “Joining me today is Eudoxia Gronicks, our Head Gamemaker!” I wave my hand and grin weakly.

“So, Eudoxia, any hints on this year’s Games? I’ve been dying to know since you promised excitement from our last interview!” Caesar chuckles, lightly tapping my elbow comfortably. I tap my nose playfully and he groans before bellowing once again. “Very well, Eudoxia, very well! Now ladies and gentlemen, I’ve just been informed that the Parade is beginning!” Caesar and I turn on our chairs and see the giant stone doors opening, allowing a chariot to ride out.

“District One! Even from this distance we can see the dazzling leotards,” Caesar commentates, “Cheekily, the designers have covered the tributes ‘areas’ with diamonds, leaving the rest of them bare!” He laughs and I release a small chuckle. As usual, these tributes are excited and enjoying themselves.

“Now for District Two, where they’re dressed like our nautical ancestors, the Vikings!” He announces eagerly again, “I can only imagine the designer was inspired by Acacia Wells’ cute plaits!” The girl is wearing an iron breastplate and a frilly, stripy skirt, keeping the traditional colours of white and blue. The boy however, is wearing a white vest, covered by a fur scarf. His trousers are blue and white stripes.

“District Three coming down now!” Caesar broadcasts, “And all I can say is beautiful! The single, thick wire wrapping down their body is a nice contrast to the astronomical one piece they’re both wearing. Gorgeous!” They both seem extremely nervous.

“Can it be? District Four are a fish out of water this year with the girl dressed as a fish and the boy as a fisherman, tragic!” I laugh inwardly, not at Caesar’s embarrassing joke, but at how they won’t get sponsors and therefore they will fail at overthrowing my games.

“District Five is looking electrifying this year! Physically, I mean! They’re dressed as power nylons with radio satellites on their heads, not a favourite in my eyes!” Caesar continues and I pity them, it’s sad how terrible they look.

“Unfortunately, I cannot even see how District Six’s outfits relate to transport, but at least they look good!” They’re styled in metallic jumpsuits , the only link I can make is that the colours are similar to the ones used for cars.

“And of course, our infamous trees from District Seven!” Caesar yawns playfully, but tries to make them seem good nevertheless, “However, this year, their hair is shaped as the leaves!” The girl almost scolds the boy for waving, she means business.

District Eight’s carriage begins moving down and Caesar begins, “District Eight sporting a variety of patterns and materials, quite intriguing! I can imagine that being the next style here in the Capitol,” he jokes. These tributes look ready for the Games, despite their ridiculous attire.

“Wow! District Nine’s stylist has gone at great lengths this year!” He says, dazzled at the tributes from Nine. “Truly, they look like magnificent peacocks, the feathers made from wheat, but it is beautiful honestly!” The girl is loving the attention, but the boy seems scared.

“Coming now is a district I always love, District Ten!” Caesar cheers excitedly, “Look! They’re wearing leather leotards with thick, furry collars, made from sheep wool! And to finish it, they are wearing capes with a typical cow pattern! Nice!” He laughs and I laugh with him. To be honest, they do look nice, however the tributes don’t seem too into it.

“Hello, District Eleven! It’s nice to see the girl awake now, after her embarrassing collapse of exhaustion after getting off her train. The two are joined together by flowers that wrap around her left arm and his right arm, adorable!” They’re nervous, but waving, at least they’re trying.

“Finally, the pair from Twelve, who are in naughty coal miner suits, showing a bit too much skin!” He laughs happily. “I’m sorry, but it is too much for me!” The girl is waving eagerly, like she is comfortable, but the boy is clearly not enjoying himself. Unfortunately for him, he reminds me of Haymitch Abernathy. “Don’t look now, but they have just joined hands! Hopefully, they’re not in love...”

“So, Eudoxia, that’s the parade over,” Caesar says, “if you had to order them, could you perhaps tell us your favourite and not-so favourite?” He finishes before handing me a tablet which is connected to an interactive board, on the tablet I write down my order, which appears on the screen behind. This could be a great opportunity to ruin the chances of some tributes as whoever I like the most, so will the Capitol citizens.

    1st: District One

    2nd: District Two

    3rd: District Nine

    4th: District Three

    5th: District Ten

    6th: District Eight

    7th: District Eleven

    8th: District Twelve

    9th: District Five

    10th: District Six

    11th: District Seven

    12th: District Four

“And there we have it, folks! Don’t forget to make your bets before the Games start in 4 days time! Goodbye from me and Eudoxia Gronicks!” Caesar concludes.

Well, Morgan might be dressed as a fish (seriously D4 stylist, a fish?), but at least it can never get D11 embarrassing for her:

Hello, District Eleven! It’s nice to see the girl awake now, after her embarrassing collapse of exhaustion after getting off her train

    Awkward XD

And I see that Eudoxia put all the tributes from the district she sees as a danger for her games into the lower half of her order. Screw her, I hope one of these tributes completely ruins her games by pulling a stunt even more daring than Yaymitch's forcefield move. Hopefully the other gamemakers give these lower-ranked tributes a chance, because almost all of them are my favourites :D

    Glitta Calix

    41

She has white hair with hazel eyes. Her skin is rather pale. She is 1,87 meters tall and 88 Kilogrames. She looks younger than she is for various surgeries of the capitol

She is very affable, but she dubts everyone and everything. She is very paranoid, but also cunning. She isn´t calm. She is very resourceful, but not adaptable. She is kind and has a great heart. She is very remourseful of everything. She is also very apologetic. She is very manipulative also, but hates when she does but yet she still is when she needs to.

She won in the most rarest way for a career, without killing anyone. Her allies killed people, while she didn´t. She acted like a career should, bloodythirsty, but she didn´t like killing actually. She was just delousinal when she volunteered, doing it for her parent´s pride. One of the careers, the girl from four, died in the bloodbath. Two more, her district partner and the boy from two, died killing a anti-career alliance. The girl from two was injured, so Glitta´s district partner Victor killed her. In the eleventh day of the games, after the feast was done and just four people (they, a boy from nine and a ruthles female tribute from three) were left, a mutt attacked them. It killed Victor and Glitta was left alone. The other two tributes killed each other, leaving Glitta as the victor. Glitta, after returning home, never talked to her parents again. She mentors because she thinks is returning the world a gift, trying to save people as she was saved.

  • Ruby Lascius, 18 - District One - Training Centre

A deafening knock on the door causes me to stir in my sleep. Behind the door, a voice beckons for me, however I pay little attention to them. I’m still tired from the parade yesterday – it’s not easy looking the best. I also tried to converse the tributes from Two afterwards, but both of them seem very distant and arrogant.

I roll out of my bed and the marble floor is cold on my feet. I depart from my room and see Sprinkle at the table already eating with our mentors Glitta and Jasper. They look to be strategising, something I should be joining in with.

“Good morning, Ruby,” Jasper greets and Glitta soon follows. Sprinkle looks at me and then shifts her gaze. I understand. She must be sad that her sister is either going to lose me or her.

“Congratulations on the parade last night, Eudoxia Gronicks, the Head Gamemaker, was very impressed,” Glitta praises and I smirk whilst nodding. “Training begins shortly, so eat up, you got a long day,” she chuckles.

I begin spooning the yogurt-covered oats into my mouth and Jasper stops me and orders Sprinkle and I to go downstairs. I start to protest but he doesn’t want us to be last and be embarrassments to District One. Hesitantly, I follow Sprinkle and Glitta through the lobby and into the training centre. I look as the elevator begins descending and I become envious. I hate that just because we’re District One, we can’t use the elevator. The tributes from District Eight exit out of the elevator and their elderly mentor embraces the girl goodbye, whilst only wishing the boy luck. Glitta leaves us and says she is going to speak to Woof, the mentor from Eight.

Inside the training centre, I see that the pairs from Two and Ten are already in as well as the boy from Five. The boys from Two and Five are practising with swords and I’m fascinated for a short while, but I’ve never been too good with close combat. I prefer spears – which is where I find the male from Ten. He is tall; only a few inches smaller than me and I’m the tallest tribute this year. However he is much more muscular than me and could possibly overpower me, but I might outsmart him if it came to that.

“Where are you going first?” I hear the boy from Eight ask his partner from behind. She retorts angrily, telling him to mind his own business before storming off. He persistently follows her, “I’m never leaving you, Tessa,” his voice sounds sarcastic and patronising and I pity the girl, but she seems fiery enough to hold herself.

“Pathetic,” mutters Sprinkle next to me and I look down at her, my eyes narrowing. “Right, what we should do is stay together and then show our separate skills, okay?” She asks, but I know she doesn’t really want my permission. I nod and we walk towards the knife-throwing section, where the girl from Two is. Her form is elegant and her aim is flawless.

“Hello, One,” she says sweetly, “don’t mind me, I’m going to the archery training, something that I’m actually good at...” I feel as though that as she tried to put herself down, she actually belittled us. There is no way she could actually think her knife-throwing skills are bad. I may need to keep an eye out for her. She leaves shortly after with a giggle and a skip in her step.

Sprinkle and I practice throwing knives for half an hour, before we’re interrupted by the bickering duo from Eight. “Calico, face it, I’ve been better than you for most of these things, get over yourself,” the redheaded girl argues, but her male counterpart argues back, calling all the training sectors they’ve done so far useless and that they should have a sword fight. Sprinkle begins ushering me away and we go to the climbing sector.

Not long after, the pair from Eleven come and practice. The girl is much nimbler, more nimble than Sprinkle or me, but she especially leaves her partner in the dust. Feeling slightly inferior, Sprinkle and I leave, but Sprinkle stops me and tells me we should go separately. She announces that she is going to the sword practice, where the boys from Two, Five and Six and the girls from Ten and Twelve are.

I could go back to the throwing knives, since they are my speciality, but I don’t want to run the risk of seeing the girl from Two again, but she doesn’t appear to be there, just the pair from Four and Eight as well as the boy from Twelve.

Another option is the axes, with not a lot of competition there: the siblings from Seven, the girl from Nine and the boy from Ten. Or maybe I should try something new, like understanding which berries are healthy and which aren’t, that station is only occupied by the boy from Nine and girl from Six. Too much to choose from.

After practising with the swords for a while, I decide I’m good enough to take a break from that and find Lucy. However I don’t find her in time and we’re called into lunch.

Inside the lunch hall I find Lucy sitting at a table alongside the pair from Nine. She is smiling slightly and shyly, but when she spots me, she beams and waves me over. I head over to her and the pair from Nine look cautious.

“Charon, this is Farro and Rye!” She grins and introduces us. I sit down and greet them, but Rye tells me to call her Riley and I nod. I presume it’s because we aren’t friendly enough for nicknames – not that I care.

“Me and Farro are in an alliance, why don’t you and Riley join?” Lucy asks quietly. I don’t want to because I know that I will have to look after these kids, but rejecting Lucy wouldn’t be right.

“No thank you,” Riley answers hastily, “Farro, can you not remember the train ride? What Veridie asked us and who I answered?” I start becoming self-conscious and protective over Lucy. Her partner tries to argue our case, but the girl from Nine leaves, taking her tray with her.

“I- I’m sorry about that...” Farro apologises sincerely, “It’s just – I don’t think she trusts you,” he says to me and I shrug him off, unbothered. I don’t know her and chances are, she’s going to die anyway. “But, I agree with her, I don’t think he should be in our alliance, Lucy...” his voice trails. Lucy tries to protest, but I stand up and leave. I know where I’m not wanted.

Looking for another table, I hear a voice behind invite me to their table. It’s the Careers. The girl from Two is waving me over and I’m definitely wary. This could be a trap, but they could be trying to let me into their alliance, where I could kill them more easily.

Lucy appears before me and is apologising frantically. She hugs me, but I don’t return it. “Charon, I’m so sorry, I left Farro, please, I’m sorry,” she ushers out, “please!” I feel bad but crouch down to her level.

“Can we meet at the Cornucopia? I need you, Charon, please!” Lucy begs. I smirk and see behind her the Careers are still trying to entice me over to them.

    [Axes]

Since it appears we have a vote tie. Still think berries would be the better choice, but perhaps axes is not as bad as I think it might be.

[Meet Lucy at the Cornucopia, go to the Careers]

Well, Charon would probably fit with the careers and perhaps he finds a way to kill them all, which would be amazing. Ignoring the careers on the other hand could be unhealthy, even more unhealthy than joining them, so it could be good to find out what they want. And while Lucy is likely going to be a millstone around his neck, I feel really bad for her and really want to help her if possible.

[Berries] This is the safest option

[Meet Lucy at the Cornucopia, go to the Careers] Ignoring the Careers might make him a possible target.. Plus, I'm sympathetic to Lucy so she has my vote.

Your writing is amazing. I honestly love it, it's getting me so hyped for more :3

  • [Berries], It has the least number of possible targets
