How the "Steal medicine"Choice could of played out

So I was thinking if you steal the medicine then decide to stay at the place for a couple days Rebecca doesn't die because of coldness she could die in the shootout. If you don't steal the medicine and don't stay in the place for a couple days she dies of coldness. Even though these are little changes it still gives you a bit of choice

    I think those choices would've been better than how it played out.

    No matter what Rebecca dies of hypothermia and exhaustion. They might as well have just had Rebecca die during child birth.
