Character arcs and motivation S1 and S2.
I am a writer. I love to write and I hope to be published someday. I would love to write for Telltale and hopefully this series. Maybe make the choices matter and write 5 different series 3s for our endings in season 2.
But this morning I was thinking on character arcs and the differences between S1 and S2. I might include motivations as well, here, but here is the list I've made and see if you agree or not.
S1
Kenny: Seeks to protect his family in a world gone mad which puts him at odd with the group at times. Does not think too rational because of this and so pushes on with the boat idea. When his family dies he is forced into depression and the boat is the only thing keeping him going. Finally forgives Ben for his mistakes and or seeks redemption for his earlier bad actions by making sure Lee can find her.
LEE: Seeks to protect a little girl and find her parents. As it becomes apparent that her parents are most likely dead he starts to have paternal feelings toward her. Gains redemption by saving Clem and thus making up for his taking of a life before the game began. He dies knowing he has taught Clem what she needs to know to survive.
Lilly: Original leader of the group until Kenny took over. Becomes jealous. When her father dies it is another reason to hate Kenny or and Lee. She is driven mad by grief and kills Carly and flees in fear for her life, or is just unable to cope being near those who killed her dad.
Omid and Christa: Christa is pregnant though this is never actually stated in the game and hinted at in a way that is confusing as to if she's preggas or not. They're seeking a safe place to have the baby. They want to get to the countryside because its safe. They tag along with the group because despite what they say there is safety in numbers.
Carly and Doug: Didn't really have one as they're just minor. So is Ben.
S2.
KENNY: Sees Clem as redemption for his past mistakes, is desperate to do what he could not do for his family and get Clem to safety. Either fails or succeeds and finds peace at last either way.
The Cabin Group: Though they do not trust her at first they soon see Clem as the only way they will survive in the Zombie Apocalypse and so make her their leader of sorts. One of them also wants to protect their baby and the only way to do this is to buddy up to Clem. Some abandoned character arcs as well. Too many to list.
Jane: Is a loner who has survived quite well on her own for 2 years or more, but upon meeting Clem realises that she was doing this all wrong and if she wants to REALLY survive in the Apocalypse she must hang about with a kid she doesn't really know yet has become attached to ridiculously fast.
Clem: She wants to find Christa. Becomes a badass female version of Lee and will soon take up the mantle of being the Lee style mentor to Alvin.
