Ben's disappering gun

There has been something that has been bothering me for a while. At the beginning of the Chapter 4, Ben's pistol simply disappears between the scenes.Strange thing is I have seen a photo of him still holding the gun before he abandons Clementine. Do you think this was intentional?

He was also seen holding a rifle during the chapter 2 trailer. But this never happened during the game. ( I understand that trailers are usually quite different from the final product, but I am still curious about some of these changes) According to the unused audio files he has been to hunting trips when he was a child, which kind of explains how he survived all those months.

I wonder if they made some changes to his story arc.

    For your second question, it was intended that you were going to have to fight the walkers off with Ben while the people tried to free Mr. Parker.
