I don't get how this works [twdgs2]
Okay so is does anybody ever think how everyone dies in a week in the season 2? Let's take the Cabin group for example. All of them survive for 2 years now in a zombie apocalypse, and then BAM Clementine comes along, everyone's dead in a week. WTF? If they've survived for so long, why did all of them die in such pathetic deaths? Like Pete, clearly knows how to protect himself from zombies, and just like that gets bitten the next day after Clem joins them. If they all can't protect themselves at all, how were they still alive that far into apocalypse? Then another thing, why the fuck did Carver start to go after them as soon as Clem shows up? They escaped along time ago, why didn't he go after them right away? But no, everything has to go down when some little girl they barely know joins their group? Idk, it's maddening how everyone dies, but Clementine is all safe and sound.

Carver was already tracking them and happened to come when Clementine arrived. Seeing how almost everyone's deaths are indirectly or directly caused by him in the group, blame him.
Basically every game uses this same tactic. They weren't protecting themselves those whole 2 years, it's even stated they were under Carver's care for at least MOST of the two years they were alive. Clem is the protagonist, what else is there to expect? I don't think they escaped TOO long ago. And everybody didn't die.
Like what longlivelee said, we don't know how long they were all at Carver's camp nor do we know how long ago they escaped. However, based on what we know about the cabin group, they were all at Carver's camp pretty much since the beginning.
When we look at this, if they spent most of the time at Howe's and not trying to survive on their own, then that would explain why they quickly died and their lack of survival experience. And who knows how long ago it was they escaped, how long they had been living at the cabin, how far was the cabin from Howe's, etc. I doubt it wasn't long after they escaped from Howe's that they found the cabin, and they probably weren't there for more than a few weeks, since Carver was still out trying to look for them. I know he loved Rebecca and thought the baby was his, but aafter a certain amount of time, he would have had to call off the search and give up, but he was still out looking for her and the rest of the group, so it couldn't have been that long after they escaped.
I was just about to type out almost the exact same thing Metallica Rules! Lol! Thanks for saving me the effort
Simple. Where Clementine goes the plot follows. TWD plot = mother fuckers dying. Though in the context of the story itself you can blame most of it on Carver and the Cabin group's own lack of survival skills. Carver tracking them down around the same time that Clementine shows up is just a coincidence. That's how we're supposed to take it anyway.
The sad truth is that the whole group dies in a matter of 13 days:
A day after Clementine arrived to the group, Pete dies. Then the cabin group walks to the mountains for five days. It's been six days since Clem has arrived. After that, they meet up with Kenny and they all get captured during the afternoon/night, Nick and Alvin can also die on the sixth day. In the beginning of episode three, we see that it is daytime again, assuming a day has passed its been a whole week now. We are taken in to Carvers camp and spend approximately two days there, it has now been nine days since Clem has arrived. On the ninth day Alvin and Carlos are dead. So right now Pete, Carlos, Alvin, and Nick (determinate) are dead. When we are walking to the Museum with Rebecca and Jane it is daytime. It has now been ten days. On the tenth day Nick and Sarah are now dead. Luke and Rebecca remain. After Rebecca gives birth, you have the choice to stay a couple of days or to leave the next day. It isn't clear how many days we stay so I'll continue with the "leave the next day" option. It has now been eleven days and Rebecca is now dead. Luke is the last cabin survivor. In No Going Back two days pass, on the thirteenth day Luke dies. So in thirteen days all the cabin survivors are dead, pretty sad.
Nice work. I'm too lazy to do something like that :P
Thanks, it took a lot of remembering lmao.
And there's also the Lodge survivors too. Matthew, Walter and Sarita were all killed as well.
I was mostly focusing on the Cabin Survivors only.
To be honest, Pete's death was just pure bad luck. He took the precautions he needed to, but it still wasn't enough. Pete's death wasn't just caused by him being an idiot, it was just caused by the world being all like "fuck you Pete"
If anything, Pete's death is reminiscent of Lee's death; survive for all this time, only for one random zombie to come along and ruin it. You took all the precautions you needed to up to this point, and when you let your guard down for just that one second, you get chomped and it's over, just like that.
Let's just face it: Clementine's presence will get anyone she meets killed. I mean, until now she's the only (known) survivor of the two major groups that made it until now. And all those people were perfectly capable to survive but something or SOMEONE (aka Trolltale) decided to screw us and kill every character one by one. I'm not throwing shade at Clem (she's basically my daughter) but I'm just stating the obvious.
Characters die around the protagonist as they are the successor of the event.
You don't see any story that randomly says "x died of a zomb bite" and then the story continues, no?
Ok then.
Being near a protagonist brings bad luck.
Yup.
