Tales Hotkeys?

Are there any hotkeys set up for Tales? I'd really enjoyed to skip dialogue if I accidentally press something twice, or automatically use the magnifying glass in the inventory without having to click on it.

I've been pressing random buttons nothing seems to work, and I havn't seen a manual or readme or even an in game config.

If there isn't, it'd be nice for chapter 2!

    Right-click to skip dialogue.

    As simple as can be!

    Thanks.

    Well you can press either "I" or "TAB" to get to the inventory, and while there you can press "E" to examine your stuff.

    "Space" to pause during gameplay.

    Select dialogues and walk around with "arrow keys", choose specific dialogue with "enter", and if you walk aound with the "arrow keys" you can hold down "shift" while doing so to run.

    That's what i came across while completing chapter 1.

    Skarnet.

    Thanks Skarnet! That's exactly what I needed.

    I'm not getting into this mouse movement thing.

    Wow, I didn't know that... I always ran through half the town to enter the map screen...

    You can scroll through the dialogue choices using the mouse wheel. The cursor will temporarily disappear when you do that.

    Only one I noticed is when using click and drag to walk, if you hold down right click too, Guybrush runs.

    Shift works, too.

    Me too. Thanks.

    click and drag to move Guybrush. Hold down right click to run. (also works with wdsa/arrow keys and shift)
    double click on objects to run automatically towards them.
    middle click brings up inventory. (also: tab) right click, middle click, or click off to exit out.
    esc brings up the menu screen.

    Haven't figured out how to skip cutscenes.

    Wait a second. I just tried that, and it doesn't work. Anyone else?

    why isn't this explained in the game or in a readme file?

    Here are the best ones -

    X = Inventory (B closes)
    Y = Selects Examine mode
    BACK = Menu

    Oh yeah, this is on an XBOX 360 controller :D

    Weird thing is while it has 360 controller support, you still need to use the mouse for the pointer?! They DIDN'T set the right analogue to the mouse pointer!?

    Not a problem though, fixed in 3 minutes with the awesome (and free) X-Padder.

    I use my PC hooked up to my HDTV in my living room, so the mouse and keyboard setup is a little clunky on my couch, my 360 controller solution fixes that though and now I can play Monkey Island (and Wallace & Gromit) while relaxing on my couch!

    On the PC press F4 to highlight "interactive" objects.. somewhat of a cheat if you ask me though!

    And about using M for map, it didn't work for me either..

    I was close to saying that pressing STRG-M summons a three headed monkey, because F4 didn't work.
    However i found out that it only works with Graphic Level 7 and above.

    Well, STRG-M might summon a three headed monkey. I haven't actually tried it :D

    Holy Crap THANK YOU, I kept right clicking (Curse of Money Island) to try and bring up the Inventory and was disapointed that it didn't work, was even going to start a thread asking TTG if they could patch it in, I'll still try Right Clicking though by accident but at least I can just Middle Click instead of sighing and moving to the side to bring it up.

    Me too, i right clicked RMB a lot, and i don't know why it's not mapped to the Inventory. I find it rather inconvenient to click the scroll wheel compared to the left or right Mouse button.

    That was a piece of debug code which ended up in the press build but nowhere else. You can seriously seriously break the press copy that way (eg you can press "M" in the prologue and warp to Flotsam island, but nothing makes sense, or you can press "M" to escape from DeSinge's chair). Fortunately very few people noticed.

    Cutscenes aren't skippable, because there isnt technically any difference in our engine between a simple dialog exchange and a cutscene -- they're all cutscenes, and none of them are cutscenes -- some moments of dialog just have a lot more stuff in them.

    Awesome, might try this... do you just attach the Xbox controller to your PC via the plug and play charger cable thingy?

    Wow I didn't know all of these! They should write them in the Settings of something...

    Maybe you could make a button like the "return to the jungle entrance" in the jungle of flotsam island, that brings you the map. And you could make that button only visible as long as you're in a situation you should have access to the map, like the "return to the jungle entrance"-button is only visible in the jungle. That way you could work around that problem.

    Just a little idea.

    I actually would rather something else was used for running instead of holding shift, like double clicking one of the arrow keys WASD). Or maybe if running was the default option and shift was used for walking (as in Prince of Persia). It's just that I found myself running most of the time and my pinky finger hurts from holding the shift button.
  • edited July 2009
    Maybe run should be a toggle, I also found it a bit awkward holding shift with my little finger. It seems to be unavoidable, whether you are using wasd or the arrow keys D:

    I found pressing C to combine stuff easier than clicking the button.

    The inventory was really tedious and time consuming for me until I realised the Tab, E, and C shortcuts. If you're already using WASD controls, it suddenly flows so well.
  • edited July 2009
    Yes, inventory is a bit complicated
    And always having to open it again and re-select the object, to use an object you just tried isn't fun
    Map is missing, no M here neither working
    ESC brings you to the home menu to load/save/exit, but I often (don't know because of which games) press ESC to exit the inventory and then have this screen and gets grrrrr :P

    Similarly, I often pressed it to try and skip cutscenes (for example the credits at the start)
