The Larry situation
Sorry to bring this up again, but man his death was definitely one of the best and most intense scenes in the entire series imo. The terrifying atmosphere, suspense, excitement and even the somewhat dark comedy factor was just awesome.
I was looking for an excuse to take our old friend out for a while, and this was the perfect moment to do so. Lilly or Kenny didn't really factor into the situation at all for me amd I really couldn't give a fuck about Clementine being traumatised or some shit like that. This was pure revenge for Larry's actions at the pharmacy. I know Kenny also had personal problems with him when he wanted to throw his son out, but I don't know if that had anything to do with his death.
So where does this scene rank for you amongst the best in the series and what decision did you make concerning Larry?

In my Opinion, this is one of the Greatest and Most crucial moments of the First Season, but also in My opinion, Larry was looking out for his daughter is all. Similar to how Lee looked out for Clem. Lee and Larry are one in the same, and Larry's hate and Mistrust was 100% justified. Lee was a convicted Killer, And Larry wanted to protect the Innocent people in the group in his own Twisted way.
Why has no mentioned me in this thread yet?
Read my name and you'll know my opinion...
Yeah
So you killed Larry because he's an ass?
Was an ass...was.....
Hue Hue
dat achievement name
For me, I totally understood where Kenny was coming from, but I thought that we could at least try to help him and see if it does anything. Of course, the only thing we ended up 'helping' was the salt lick to reach his face.
Me and Larry both did not like Kenny and I wanted Larry to like me he made me laugh every time we spoke so I wanted to save him but bonehead got scared and had to make sure there was no saving him. That was the most intense moment in a game I have ever had. From when you go to dinner and find Mark until you leave the farm was so creepy and intense my heart was pounding. That was an experience I won't forget.
Until now, I never helped Lilly jet - Larry was a danger alive, and as long as he haven´t a damaged brain, he is a danger even when he´s dead, further it was Lee who brought him his hearth-pills - and he tried to kill him.
The onliest reason for letting him alive would be to secure Lilly´s support in the future (But in the game that has a little meaning, because even when we wait with killing his dad she´ll killing carley)
Initially maybe but 3 months in it seems a bit much, That said larry never really does anything after the timeskip. hes mostly just rude like he is with everyone
Oh, I forgott -the maybe most importent- point:
In the case that we could save him, it would be the right.
But IMO you can´t take such a risk int his situation, maybe no any longer in this world.
Well after you've had Family experience in the Army, You're daughter is the only family you have left, and You're in the biggest Shitstorm on earth, A.K.A, the Zombie Apocalypse, It's hard to trust somebody after even 3 years at that point.
As I said above, He helps and takes care of the group in his own Special way, Which coincidentally, is Being a Dictator, Same with Ken and Lilly. I do that too. When I try to help and Protect people, I usually get a bit... Controlling.
Technically, Now he's JUST an ass. He got his head smashed, and Likely the walkers went after Larry and tore his Chest apart, so I assume Larry's just a pair of legs and a Fine Booty.
I thought that the meat locker is one of the most memorable moments of the series, since it's a great source of how everyone's moralities are put to the test, as well as defining their true character.
I chose to save Larry in spite of his antagonism towards Lee, mainly due to wanting to prove to him and Lilly that Lee is not the mindless murderer he appears to be. Had Lilly or Larry been the playable character, would we have trusted a random murderer carrying a child around?
Plus, at the time I felt that by helping Kenny to kill Larry ended up causing a great deal of mental strain on Lilly that had ended up causing relationship and safety problems in the future. If it were up to me, I would have tried to show to Lilly that Larry wasn't going to be saved by CPR alone and there was no chance to revive him, and then ask her who was going to do the deed once the inevitable strikes. Even for a 300 pound man, it's not that hard to have two adults sit on a walker while a third finishes it off.
Besides, had it been Katjaa who had a heart attack, fell to the ground and would end up reanimating, and then Lilly was the one to drop a saltlick on her dead to ensure everyone's survival, there would be a lot of hypocrisy coming out of Kenny's mouth, and he would have behaved exactly as Lilly did regarding about the fate of her father.
I think it would have probably been impossible to befriend Larry and get him to like you after he leaves you for dead at the pharmacy and I can understand why the game never went there.
This scene ranks #5 in my Top 5. I never liked Larry, but I love Lilly & I understand he was just protecting her. He was a complete jerk about it, but I get it. I tried to save him, because if it was my parent, I would want to try regardless. It takes anywhere from 3 minutes and 8 hours to reanimate, but I'd still want to try. I saw no harm in trying to save Larry first & if that failed, then kill him before he turned or as he woke as one.
Well more to do with the fact that he delibarately tried to leave Lee behind and get him killed and eaten by walkers. The fact that he was also an ass probably didn't do much to help his cause.
Yeah I don't think you were supposed to like Larry they make him a pretty over the top jerk but he made me laugh rather than irritate me so I liked him and was trying to be nice to him.
I like your and RichWalks ideas about Kenny´s reacting in Katjaas case, the test of morality, and the end you would´ve prefer - me too, because Lilly making angry on Lee is senceless, TTG made it´s Larry´s destiny to die in the meat locker.
- I think I´ll try to play it this way next time .
Further, Badge - I can understand the reasons for reanimating Larry - it is the right (but a risk
I think it´s a pity that Lilly leaves the plot such close after Larrys death - so we can´t really see the positive consequences...
You sir are a hero.
I attempted to save Larry. Although I hated him for throwing me to the walkers in episode 1 and everything about him was arrogant...I couldn't kill him. He is still human, and whats more, even though we didn't get along, part of the group. In my opinion you don't just kill people...a bit of forgiveness was at hand. But, I wasn't that mad at Kenny, what he did was for the protection of the people inside the room even if it may not have been the best choice.
