Is happy ending even possible?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

Kirkman stated himself there are no happy endings in walking dead

In interview telltale writers say like to give players hope then pull carpet from underneath them so any happiness will just be moment before something even worse then ever happens

Every new season going start off with new cast with clem they going kill off rest i think so every season by the end most will die except clem

In s1 minute had a chance of happy ending with clem with boat all just went to hell in the ending( Clem went missing, boat got stolen, lee got bit, Kenny and ben died. So minute you experience a happy moment should worry even more

Remaining chapters in Harm's Way,Amid The Ruin,No Going Back by names seems only going get worse

Kirkman stated there is no cure so clem life just be on the run in constant danger, friends dying, Just a kid so be constantly bullied and abused as just young girl so nobody will look at her as leader

If telltale did kill clem be most let-down and disappointing ending ever played all lessons taught her in s1 then she becomes badass as result using the lessons after all pain she went through, All character deaths, connections and experiences. All decisions i made if she becomes anything less then savior of human race i'll be unhappy please telltale

1) Anyway is happy ending even possible?

2)What's your description of happy ending?

3)What think twist might be in episode 5?

  • 1.) I'd like to think so, but no - no happy ending. But I HONESTLY don't see how they could make it worse without copying the ending of the last season. But Telltale's good at breaking expectations, so, I trust them.

2.) I'd define a happy ending as; Clem living through episode 5. Hopefully Kenny, too.

    3.) A twist in episode 5?! I can't handle another.

Honestly, no. I don't think it's possible. I'd like it to happen, but with confirmations from the very creator of TWD that the series has no happy endings, I don't have much, if any, hope for a good ending. If anything it'll just be bittersweet. But maybe, just maybe, TT will go a different route.

I don't really like that kind of storytelling since it's pessimistic for the sake of being pessimistic, there's gotta be at least something good in the TWD world. Killing off the only kind/morally good characters, giving us hope and then taking it back, and making things go to shit right after they just started getting better again gets old after a while, and then you begin to expect it, and after that point nothing in the story is interesting anymore.

My idea of a happy ending is Clem finding a safe and well-supplied community with no inner human conflict, and maybe a few characters surviving to go along with her, namely Sarah. Perhaps Wellington will be like that, but so far TT has been building it up to sound like a pipe dream. Currently I don't have any theories on where the story might go after EP3, so no input from me on EP5.

  • Lol, Telltale's probably reading these like:

Big twist and happy ending i want

Clem: You were bitten and i shot you in the head how did you survive "crying"

    Lee: I got lucky

Lee kills carver and saves clem who's taking hostage all ends in hugs i'm ok with this

  • 'I got lucky' absolves all realistic possibilities of death!

    1. Possible in theory. Highly unlikely.
    2. The shitty people die, the cool people all live and get laid.
    3. Wellington is nothing but ashes.

I love it tempted to do a thread just going through every character that died coming back lol

Kenny: I smashed your head with saltlick yet you have not a scratch on you what happened

    Larry; I got lucky

Kenny: Seriously how even have head that's not even possible

Larry: I SAID I GOT LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!

'I got lucky' absolves all realistic possibilities of death!

    1. Depends how much you're willing to lower your standards as far as what you consider a happy ending.
    2. If Clementine lives, I'll be happy with it.
    3. The story will probably change drastically after episode 3, so I have no idea.
  • edited March 2014
    1. Yes.
    2. Clem is happy at the end.
    3. That there will be a happy ending.
  • edited March 2014

IMO it will only be happy if Clem is sill breathing and she's at least traveling with a person or people who she likes.

  • The only happy moment I can think of is everyone making it alive to Wellington but you can already tell that's not gonna happen...

  • Yeah that won't happen

    1. Depends on your definition. I expect something bittersweet, not all bad.
    2. Happy endings like everything will be okay and zombies are gone is both ridiculous and impossible in this universe. What I see as a happy ending would be any ending that still has some kind of hope by the end. Just because the world is different doesn't mean you can't live in it.
    3. The twist I'm expecting is that Clementine has to choose between saving herself or saving others, so she can either die as the good person she was or change into something else to survive.
  • Thanks love the twist but would that mean she won't be in s3 as some gamers would have her die

    1. No.

    2. Clementine staying alive. Everyone else is just meh.

    3. Twist? Not sure. This isn't exactly a twist, but I think a lot of people are gonna die. A lot.

  • Isn't Clementine a little young for 2?

    * Possible in theory. Highly unlikely. * The shitty people die, the cool people all live and get laid. * Wellington is nothing but ashes.

  • I don't think we're going to get a Season 3. I would LOVE for there to be one, but I doubt it ::/

It has so many things that they can do a good ending, like clementine almost dying or something like that, or she dying as a hero. Or we founding lee alive, it would be emotional, but it's almost impossible.

wouldnt it be a bit silly for the ''big choice'' in this game to be between having clem safe everyone or running off for her own safety? Shes just a kid, it just sounds illogical for her to make such a big choice, and most people would wanna run away anyway so the choice would be quite one-sided.

Also in regards of getting a happy ending; there is never gonna be a happy ending to this; lee and clems parents are still dead and clems still seen some crazy shit. However, i kinda hope for a bittersweet ending at least. All the melodramatic, depressive ''nothing goes well in twd'' can get a bit tiring sometimes, as much as i love drama lol.

I guess we'll see what telltale does. I just hope we get a powerful ending. My biggest fears though for the ending are that clem either dies or becomes some carl/lizzie v.2

  • THESE are the kinds of things that I thought last season before being slapped in the face on several occassions by TellTale's writing. Ouch, TellTale. Ouch.

  • 1) I think a Happy Ending is possible although it might be a slightly twisted version of what we would typically consider a happy ending.

    2) They find a safe place with heavy stone walls surrounding it and a heavy gate, enough guns and other weapons to keep everyone safe and enough supplies.

    3) Honestly and I know this is very harsh but every one dies and Clem is basically helpless to stop it all even though she tries to save them then she is left on her own. I mean really on her own no friends, no group. Nothing and her only hope is to make it to Wellington.

  • Thanks for comment three well explained points and I completely agree for myself a happy ending is just clem living but agree with everything you said

    1. As Lee said back in episode 2, things will work out one day. I truly still believe that, even if Lee never got to see it. Part of me is more cynical now, but you never know.
    2. So long as Clem and a couple others survive, I will be happy.
    3. Wellington ACTUALLY being the safe haven Christa and Kenny claim it to be. Just once I'd like to see the supposed safe spot actually be what it sounds like, and not be another false hope for the few survivors. Just once!
  • The only positive ending that would come acceptable is that Wellington will turn out to be something like Alexandria Safe Zone a good community but after a long while it will fall, but thats a storyline for S3 maybe.

  • 1) I'm going to go ahead and agree with everyone else - no happy endings in TWD. I guess it could happen, but the possibility of it happening is rather small.

    2) I would define a happy ending (at the moment) as Clementine being alive and happy.

    3) I dunno...I think it would be kinda of scary/creepy/depressing if Clem does eventually make it to Wellington and everyone was right about it - to a point. The cold does indeed stop the walkers, but something happened and everyone else is dead, leaving Clem by herself andposing us with the question of if survival is worth it without anybody to survive with.

  • Great answer

    3) is really reason why made this thread yes she probably will survive but if never a cure is worth constant pain

  • The closest thing to a happy end is finding a stable community which self-sustains by growing vegetables and breeding animals.
