A TWDG Poetry thread

Hey everyone, thanks for visiting my humble poetry thread. By popular demand (ok, one person demanded it), I decided to post some of my TWDG inspired poetry for you to read/enjoy/viciously criticize. Anyway, I'm always in the mood for some constructive feedback, so please shoot a reply my way if you like what you see. I'll try to update this soon, but until then, feel free to post some of your own poem if you've got the (metaphorical) balls.

-The Stranger
.
I took my son to hunt; he should
Know how to track and kill his food
But now he's lost and surely dead
She hates me now or so she said
.
My son, my wife, my happy life
Upended by unending strife
You stole our food, made worse our plight
Then disappeared into the night
.
Revenge weighed heavy on my mind
My schemes quite heinous and unkind
But then a young girl gave me pause
Once more I have a noble cause
.
-See Me Now: This poem is about Clementine wondering how her parents would feel about the things she's been forced to do in order to survive.
.
If you saw me now, would you be proud of me?
I'm covered in guts, would you question my sanity?
What would you think of the choices I'm making?
The hope I'm forsaking?
The lives that I'm taking?
Would you understand why I shot that man dead?
And why Lee insisted I leave him instead?
Could you love me, despite all the death that I've seen?
Accept me despite the dark places I've been?
Would you be proud of how much I've grown since day one?
Or bemoan what your sweet little girl has become?
Comments
I'll try to come up with a new one but in the meantime, here's one I wrote a while ago in a different thread:
The World is Dead
The world is dead, sweet Clementine
The world is dead, my dear
Its warmth and comfort, cold and still
Its kindness, buried here
*
The world is dead, sweet Clementine
It pains my heart to say
The life you cherished once before
A memory, fade away
*
The world is dead, sweet Clementine
The days ahead are grim
You’ll fight for every breath you'll take
You’ll live on Chance’s whim
*
Yet though it seems a hopeless cause,
I beg you don’t relent
Endure each day and carry on
Your spirit, steel unbent
*
Defeat your troubles, face your fears
Resolve that you survive
For the world is dead, sweet Clementine
But you are still alive
Aha! The haiku hero emerges with a full poem! I liked it, good flow and rhyme scheme. Looking forward to seeing what else you can do.
very good man!
Thank ya', more will be on the way soon.
damn i love -The Stranger hope you make one bout carver
Thanks, it's one of my favorites too. Actually, I'm working on one about his camp, but it reads more like a haiku. I might make one about Carver though.
That was.. inspiring!
Thank you sir!
I liked the poetry of the Stranger! good job man!
Just finished another one; enjoy.
Death
.
I'm sorry Clementine, but it would seem your day is done
You're backed into a corner, you can neither hide nor run
But I know of a place where you need never live in fear
Join us in the afterlife, we've saved room for you here.
.
It's astounding what you'll do to live another day.
But the ling'ring chill of death will never go away
We believe you are deserving of eternal life
So just pick up that gun and put an end to all your strife
.
Don't you see the road you travel only leads to pain?
Your guardian defied my will and yet he died in vain
Death is not a punishment nor something you should fear
You'll reunite with loved ones when you choose to join us here.
.
I won't succumb to hopelessness, I know what I must do
This world is hell but I intend to guide my people through
Lee rests in Savannah but he's with me day and night.
He how me how to use this gun to stand my ground and fight!
