Why Couldn't We Save *****?
I've mentioned this in a few threads now, so I decided to make a thread specifically about it. If you didn't know, I'm talking about Sarah. The death that she gets if you saved her earlier would have been easily avoidable, but Telltale just didn't want a determinant character. We had melee weapons, guns, and people, so we could have saved her. When this scene happened I was waiting for the option to go down there and save her myself, but the option never appeared. Not only did we have the manpower to save her, but this time she physically wanted to be saved, as she asked for help when she fell. This kind of ruined my immersion because saving Sarah would have went along with how my Clem acted, so I sat there wondering if there was any reason that Clem couldn't have saved her, but there wasn't really one. Not to mention the fact that nobody except Jane even acknowledged that she just died. Like, why are you all smiling, a fifteen year old girl just fell and got eaten alive. Does anyone else think we should have been able to save her?

I was pissed when I saw Sarah die
it was funny since I was just literally thinking about this. And i've stated that many times before today. Sarah could've been savable, but everybody wanted her dead... secretly. Because she was a "burden". I mean, with proper training and time she could've been useful.Plus if atleast sarah survived, I wouldn't be feeling like utter useless shit right now..
Yeah, I was too. Not only did I want her to make it as she was a genuinely nice person, but it would have been interesting if she made it.
Because the writers didn't know what to do with her beyond that point, especially as she's determinant by then.
I didn't want her dead
. Plus yeah, I feel like Sarah kind of broke me. I honestly wouldn't really care that much if everyone in our group dies in the gunfight with the Russians. I used to think that Nick's whole talk about how there is no point in doing anything because no matter what we do we are all going to die was a terrible way of thinking and that it wasn't true, but now I'm starting to agree.
I'm not even kidding when I say Sarah's death shook me up almost as bad as Lee's. The trailer park death, that is. Her looking up, quietly calling after Clementine as she's left behind. Holy fuck, mad props to Sarah's voice actress, because her screams made me nauseous and disturbed as hell.
Honestly Telltale, if you were that desperate to kill her off this episode, couldn't you have at least made her second death... y'know, make sense?
In all honesty, I really wish the things we did early on mattered.
All in all, it was feels episode.
Yeah, I agree with both of those. The gun choice should have done something, at least have here reference it or something. Now Nick, I kind of liked the scene with the Nick zombie, but I feel like they could have done something better. Maybe we could have said something to him when we were in the herd or maybe he could have been with Luke and Sarah and died later. Maybe he would have went to loot one of the buildings near our camp but never came back, only to be seen as a walker with the walkers that attack the observatory. He should have done something.
Agreed. Nick, rebecca, and sarah (mostly sarah) were my favorites. And now that they're gone I really don't want to continue anymore. And I'm not. For me, this is were the walking dead ends sadly. Telltale has showed us that they don't care about their fans or characters. They're trolls. I'd rather save my money and go buy something else lol.
rip everybody, still comprehending and unbelievable that Rebecca is dead.
Yes. I loved this episode but that part I had a real problem with. From what I saw, Sarah could've fairly easily been saved if everyone helped. Them not even mentioning that Carlos' daughter was just mauled to death made it even worse. I just know Carlos would've been pissed if he was still there and the situation was handled the same way. That death really bothered me, and not just in a "that was sad and i'm broken up about it" way. It really bothered me, I wanted to tell the whole group off after that.
I agree though, I think it was basically not wanting that detriment character, and wanting to kill her off asap.
I honestly didn't mind Rebecca's death. I was sad yes, but it was an interesting death that fit the story and felt in place. I'm still going to play episode five, as I own the season pass, but depending how it ends I may or may not get season three, if it even gets made.
If there's a season 3, it'll most likely be clementine raising the child. Or you guys playing as him. Because knowing telltale, they'd kill off Clementine in a stupid way for a cheap tear.
If they do kill of Clem in episode five I will be done. Not because of the emotional attachment, but because of how it will basically be the end of season one again. It would be lazy writing. They could easily come up with something way more interesting, but if they kill her they may just get a few tears.
What annoys me the most is that Sarah, realistically, wouldn't even have gone onto the deck. She would have stayed with Rebecca and Kenny, so it just shows that Telltale really wanted rid of her.
Another good point. It does seem out of character for her.
then it will be a "nail in the coffin" if that happens...
Exactly. That would be my final straw.
it's like... i'm so sorry carlos i couldn't protect/take care your daughter telltale made me leave her behind >:(
Bonnie had a fucking AK-47 FOR FUCK'S SAKE SHE COULD'VE DONE SOMETHING!
I just thought of something. If Telltale hates determinant characters so much, why don't they stop making them? I'd rather have well developed, interesting characters than meaningless choices that make the character either die or stay in the background for a little bit before dying. EDIT This wasn't appearing after I posted it, but it's here now. Well, I guess there is going to be another one in a few minutes from when I reposted it.
Ok, maybe I never liked Sarah and I always thought the she should've have been dead since episode one, but no matter what you did TellTale just wanted to get rid of her.
I tried to save her EVERY FUCKING TIME and as always EVERY FUCKING TIME there was something. I mean, I tried... But it was really scripted. She had to die. I hope they're happy now.
I didn't want Carlos to die, though. He was mean sometimes but a good man overall. And yeah, Sarah was a bit too needy... But kill her like that? I don't think so.
me too.. after i was forced to leave her behind... >:( clem should just swear that time if it's on the choices... like fuck , fuck this and that and fuck everybody!!!! >:( ..(or i just sound like kenny a bit. ~(-_- ~)
Just ignore this double post :P
i think every company always destroy their game in the meantime -- just like crapcom... but.. yeah just my opinion.. donate no hate ~(--~)
Woah, I'm not the only one who calls them Crapcom!? Awesome!
Maybe Telltale should just make an animated TWD tv series? :P
Get rid of the burden of the illusion of choice and focus on the characters and story. And they proved that, in spite of episode 4's problems, they are still capable of good writing and characterization. I mean, look at Jane's development, Mike and Bonnie's scene, Sarah's trailer park death. There's so much potential that it hurts.
I'd watch it, but I don't know. I still enjoy the dialogue choices and the choices that kind of matter, like whether to go with Pete or Nick and whether or not to cut off Sarita's arm.
maybe now i know why melissa hutchison.. said she cried after recording the episode 4 if that's true she cry... -_0
I forgot about the AK. That further proves my point.
I was really hoping for Sarah to snap into reality and become a more hardened character. She was like Clementine's own Clementine, ya know? I wanted her to live in the same way that Lee wanted Clem to live... Such a shame she's dead.
I would have preferred if she just stayed in the background, but unlike Nick, at least making some sort of difference instead of dying in such a giant plot hole.
It's weird because when she was in the trailer park, she wasn't in her senses. But later, you could tell she wanted to stay alive because she was literally screaming for help. I realise she wasn't the most popular character ever but she was innocent and her death was just cold.
Exactly, I liked this episode for the most part, but this part really makes me mad. You're right, Carlos would be really mad. It's pretty sad that after he died the group just let his daughter to die a painful death.
It's depressing she died. It was stupid. It could've easily been avoidable. If they were gonna let her die, why didn't they at least put her out of her misery? Put a bullet in her head before the walkers get her. ..itremindsmeofBenthough.
I didn't really like this episode either. None of the choices mattered, at all. Same with the last episode of Season 1, but at least it wasn't as predictable. And it was still really good.
Telltale didn't want much people get to Wellington , so they kill 4 person in this episode.This is too much ! We only left 6 people (with baby) , and probably someone gonna die in the next episode.I wish we could save Sarah ;-;
I didn't want her to die, I tried to save her, But you know their deaths are already written.
Because they wanted to get rid of the determinant characters so it'd be easier for them to do the choice paths for Episode 5.
Or the guns could have bough clem time to save her. But either way, even though saving her the first time didn't last long, i never would have given up on her if it gave her five minutes.
Sarah died because Telltale thinks wrapping up a plotline means character genocide.
How could they even sleep when a bloodied and broken teenage girl is right under those very floorboards.
