What's happening?
This probably isn't the right place to post this, but I don't really care. We have bigger issues.
The forums, a couple months ago, I was just lurking around. I loved the insightful, thoughtful and rational discussion going on. So I joined. I noticed that the quality of posts was degrading a little, but that's ok. Fastforward to today. Trolls run amok (although dislike button removed, so +1) ragers are rampant, and there are a good amount of plain stupid posts. There's so much drama, recently, Jennifer had to leave because she merged some threads. I don't have an opinion on that, but that caused massive uprorar and hateful comments, so she left. Stuff like this is becoming more and more common. So I ask: What happened to the forums? It was a great place to be some time ago. Now, it's falling apart. I'm very saddened by all of this, as I've become really good friends with some of the people here. Thanks for reading.
A post from Rob K that basically says the same thing:

I concur that this place is not much fun anymore. I feel like it's full of people who think they can push the concept of 'the customer is always right' too far and that it's fine to say/do whatever they want to. I see far too much criticism thrown at Telltale and it's often not done in a sensible, calm, respectful way. There's too much over-reaction as well and people tend to think Telltale needs to cater to them. If they don't, then bad or lazy writing! Then there's the fact that many think their opinion = fact. It all leads to a never-ending cycle of complaining/arguing/debating where no progress is ever made, which doesn't make the place fun to be around. And it is slightly ironic that Telltale are accused of being disrespectful when some users should take a look at themselves.
Anyway, I'm just very much jaded with people/society/online communities. Sometimes I think I should just keep to myself and remain offline. I do feel for Jennifer as well as the other mods who need to put up with this sort of stuff.
I do hope this whole mess will lead to things improving though.
P.S. (On the Clem slap drama, I couldn't listen to the file, so i assumed it was clem slapping sarah, but i was wrong. It was meant as a humourous thread anyway (hence the xD and the end of my post. That shouldn't have turned into a massive and violent uproar.)

The Tumblrinas are taking over!
WE NEED TO TAKE BACK OUR LAND!
That's what I was thinking and i posted it in the "regarding what i've heard today" thread. So I totally agree and you get my upvote.
Of course we are. We're so evil I just can't
This.
Don't let this community become the new hunting ground of SJW drama queens and moral inquisitors. Wherever they grow in influence they must also be constantly offended, create shitstorms out of trifles, act as the No Fun Allowed police and generally speaking generate an atmosphere of tension and suspicion. I've witnessed this just too often.
Thank you, good sir.
Everybody just overreacts to everything.
Haha. So true. Thanks for making me laugh. ;-)
"If Telltale doesn't cater to them", then bad and lazy writing." This is not entirely true, alot of complainers have pointed out writing problems, wasted potential in character development, and the illusion of choice being non existent, Telltale got themselves into this mess, so they shouldn't be avoided by criticism 100% especially when they don't really listen to any one of these forums, I mean they misunderstood the whole "hubs" controversy and the fact that they kind of lied to us when they said 400 days would have an impact when it really didn't and that Season 1 was going to have an impact when it also really didn't. "Fan feedback, my foot."
I've been kinda annoyed with all the hate too. Do I have my issues with Season 2? Of course. But I don't despise like half of the other people on the forums.
I had no idea about any of this stuff with the mod leaving. I hope they're ok.
But I really don't think the forums are any different from usual. It's just that right now the anti-telltale and pro-telltale people are clashing very strongly, everyone is in such strong disagreement that the discussion keep devolving to personal insults. And the pro-Telltale people keep accusing the criticism to be nothing more than "hate" and "whining".
It seems people like to focus on the bad things instead of the good things. In my own opinion, I've really enjoyed season 2 so far. Sure, it has some flaws, but that didn't make me hate the episode. There are plenty of things that happened in season 2 that telltale did that was amazing! I think if people looked more at the good things that made the episodes great, the forums would be a happier place to be.
I didn't mean for 'if Telltale doesn't cater to them, then it's bad and lazy writing!' to apply to everything and everyone. It does apply to a fair bit though. Some 'criticism' could just be occurring because people are seeking to get a rise out of others and not represent their actual thoughts.
And I too have a problem with choices not mattering that much myself, which has been the case since season 1 and it's a problem that plagues many other games too. Perhaps problem is the wrong word though, as it's not something I feel strongly about, though I must admit it does irk me when companies use false advertising (this is meant in general, by the way). But it's the only issue I have really with Telltale's games.
Anyhow, let's not turn this into a negative thread, picking at the game and Telltale's perceived faults.
That doesn't mean the people with legitimate criticism should not speak up. I understand what you're saying, but in my opinion, people seem to think that there's nothing but hate in the forums recently because there is so much criticism against Telltale. And they seem to think that criticism = hate/whining.
Indeed.
But there's sooooo much criticism and not enough praising Telltale for what they've done right. It gets tiresome, especially for a slobbering fanboy like myself.
not sure if serious but that would explain some things
Lol, I am of course joking. But really, the amount of negativity on these forums puts a drain on my sanity and it does need to be toned down at least somewhat. There shouldn't be a huge line of complaint threads in my feed 24/7.
Yes yes yes yes yes thank you. I keep trying to say that! Take all my upvotes
True . I am fine with the criticism, there are a lot of people who have good points. I think it is the people who just totally hate on telltale for every mistake they make that makes the forum kind of negative. Don't get me wrong, constructive criticism is really good, but just plain hating on telltale isn't. (This isn't supposed to sound rude, I am just really bad at wording things. Btw, I totally respect your opinion )
As a previous fan of telltale I just want the old telltale back.
Well if their writing was so bad that there's nothing but complaining it's really their fault not ours
same
i understand. It's easy to get overwhelmed with so much negativity, believe me I sure am. But people have to realize that the criticism is justified. Not just write it off as "too much whining" when they disagree.
It's mostly justified, aye, though not necessarily correct in my eyes but meh... I'mma sleep.
As long as the threads containing constructive criticism also touch on what Telltale have done right, I've got no qualms. Comes across as painfully hateful otherwise. :P
I also believe criticism is a really good thing, especially for Telltale so they can get feedback and see how they can improve. The threads I'm mostly talking about are the ones that don't offer any criticism and say "Telltale is horrible now" without offering their opinions on how Telltale can improve
Gotcha, I agree. Threads like that really aren't helpful. But the people who make those threads have reasons for thinking that way, they just want to bring attention to the issue, which is perfectly understandable.
I think we're really just getting frustrated because Telltale is completely ignoring us. I don't expect them to sit down for a press conference and be like "So yeah our biggest fans hate us now". But it would help for them to stop brushing it under the rug in favor of doing stuff like releasing new Playing Dead episodes that only make the issue even worse. And taking the side of Greg's views which we're extremely offended by.
Exactly!
"...That forum is cracking. I've seen it before. You don't want to be here when they start turning on each other... turning on you..."
I left the twdg fandom in tumblr to get away from them bullying me.. Ugh..Not everyone on tumblr is bad just everyone who bullies for having a diff opinion/ship.
