What are your thoughts on the upcoming Borderlands/Game of Thrones series?
So sometime later this year (or as I suspect early 2015), Telltale will be releasing two more games based off of two more series; Tales from the Borderlands based on the popular ARPG/Shooter "Borderlands" series, and "Game of Thrones" based on the media franchise of the same name.
Now, I actually am kinda interested in seeing what the general opinion of Walking Dead game fans (such as myself) think about these titles. Are you a fan already of the Borderlands/Game of Thrones series? Are you plannng to get these games? Are you only interested in these games because they're made by Telltale?
Personally, I (even though I had heard of them) am unfamiliar with and am not at all a fan of either franchise (especially with Game of Thrones), though I do plan to play both of those games just because they are being made in the same gameplay format as TWAU and TWD (I love that story-based, choice-based gameplay style btw).
So what about you? Will you be getting those games? Is it because you're a Telltale fan or a fan of their respective franchises?
Comments
I'm not that interested in Borderlands, but I'll give the first episode a shot and see how it goes from there.
Game Of Thrones though, I'm excited about. I heard many good things about the show and I'll see how it goes.
not interested in any. wil check gameplay but more than likely wont buy them
I am extremely excited for Tales from the borderlands and we should be getting news during PAX
Is this confirmed? And when is PAX?
At first i couldn't stand borderlands because that's all we heard about while waiting for amid the ruins, but now that i think about it, i do want to check those two games eventually.
Meh not too excited for tales, but might check it out.would rather a wolf among US season 2.
Game of thrones I am freaking excited I love everything game of thrones. Honestly more excited about it than the walkong dead season 3.
I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones (the books and the show), and I am very interested to see how TTG's version of it will turn out. My only hope is that the series doesn't feel rushed, as that is one of my biggest pet peeves of any game. Honestly, I have a hard time figuring out how it would work, since GoT/ASoIaF has so many PoV and side characters... It will be interesting to see how they fit into the story (if they do at all), or if TTG will choose to take a different approach and do something completely different.
I believe both gonna be awesome. Especially GoT
Puzzlebox said that they will be at PAX at the end of this Month (August 29-September 1st I believe) and since TWD S2 finale release date should be out by then it has to be all about Borderlands and maybe Game of Thrones
Puzzlebox: We're not going to be at Gamescom, but look for news coming out of PAX Prime in Seattle right after that!
If it's a new generation of Telltale games with better gameplay, where the player's choices affect the story significantly more than in TWDs and TWAU (and with less blatantly irrelevant QTEs), yes.
If the consequences of choices on the story are just as illusionary as in previous games and only really count for the statistics at episodes' endings, I won't start playing new franchises. I'd stick with TWD for a season 3 because I'm already attached to the story and characters, but frankly I've become very disenchanted with the lack of story branching.
EDIT : ...And I think Telltale should start making full games, without the episodes system.
I'm SUPER excited for Game of Thrones, I love both the show and the books, and I had been wanting Telltale to make a game based off of that long before it was announced. I'm not really sure what to think of Tales...I might just buy the first episode, and go from there. I liked Borderlands 2, but mainly because I would just play it with friends, the story didn't really interest me that much. Still, I have faith that Telltale will figure out a way to make it awesome.
I fully support Telltale making other games, but I also fear them dropping the quality of TWD as a give/take situation.
i hope borderland series finishes off quickly so we can move onto good series (imo) like maybe twau season 2 or if all goes well season 3.
I never played Borderlands, but I'm really excited for GoT.
Borderlands sounds cool, loved the games. Never heard of Game of Thrones show. (No joke).
No need to worry once TWD S2 finale comes out you won't hear anything about The Walking Dead from Telltale for a while....Evil laugh
I'm not very interested in either but I'm still gonna give it a shot. I waited months to play wolf for the first time cause I wasn't interested, played it and instantly regretted waiting to play it, I won't make that same mistake again :P
I'm excited for both of the games, especially Game of Thrones. But I bet Tales from the Borderlands will be awesome too. Bring it on, Telltale! :-)
GoT is going to have allot of sexual references.
one thing is for sure.... all those characters are going to die
Naturally.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I'm really excited for Game of Thrones, GoT+Telltale = Heaven.
Not a big fan of Borderlands, though...
I'll be in the minority here and say that I'm more excited for Tales From The Borderlands more than Game Of Thrones because it seems like a really odd match up, plus it has multiple protagonists, and you don't know who is telling the truth and who is lying, that's already telling me it'll be interesting.
Looking forward to it too, Telltale haven't properly stretched their funny muscles with a full fledged series since Sam & Max Season 3.
Yes sir, Mr. Robocop, I mean RoboSheriff, sir!
Shut up arvo.
Hello there.
Personally i am not interested in either games universe but since their telltale games i will get them anyways
Yes sir, Robocop, I mean RoboSheriff, sir!
'Ello
Hello Tyrion.
I am the god of tits and wine.
I agree with you there, but I don't follow either series (and this is certainly a biased opinion since I am just barely familiar with Borderlands), and I think Borderlands is a better match. GoT looks like an odd matchup.
One day your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth.
at first i didn't like the idea of a borderlands telltale game, i thought they would try and make it more serious, but i have heard it is funny so i will try it
Got liquor?
Borderland looks alright. I haven't played the games but it looks pretty good. I'll probably get it, and mostly because Telltale made it.
On the other hand, I'm a pretty big Game Of Thrones fan, so I can't wait for that.
The answer for me is both!
Im still wondering how they will pull off GoT with how short their doing episodes now. They could do it if they focus on 1 character but if they try to do the game of thrones perspective chess with many characters I dont think it will go so well.
