What changes would you like to see in season 3?

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

Here are some changes I'd like to see.

1: I'd like see a determinate character actually survive. And not be killed off a couple of episodes later.

If Mike or Bonnie become determinate characters in the next episode, I'd like them to actually survive.

2: I'd like to see Clementine have a flashback of Lee, or a dream sequence.

And in it Lee gives Clementine some sound counsel, and what he says is chosen by the player.
So in that way, players can play as Lee again, whom seemed to be a general favorite among players.
Even If it's for a few brief moments, it would still be nice.

3: I'd like for them to introduce a new character in the series, who is religious.

After all, just because it's the apocalypse, doesn't mean the old world is dead completely.
After all, we saw it in: The Book Of Eli.
Plus it would be interesting to see how such a character would affect the group, and the game.

4: I'd like for one of characters, hopefully Kenny, to get a dog in season 3.

Apparently the zombie virus is only deadly to humans, not animals.
And it would make sense that a domestic dog would seek out human company.
Plus, I think it would be cool to watch a dog take down walkers; one after another, or anyone threatening the group.

And why I'd want Kenny to get the dog.
In season 1, Kenny can mention that he had a dog before the apocalypse, and was devastated when he had to euthanize it.
I think it would give Kenny another good coping mechanism, something he can be close to, and allow us to see a softer side of Kenny.

That's what I'd like to see.
How about you?

  • You mean Season 3?

  • Hubs, longer episodes, and better writing.

    1. I agree, it's seemingly pointless to save a character, possibly multiple times, only to find that they just die anyway. At least you get to spend time with them right? Right? Ri... oh never mind.

    2. I would think that Clementine would have flashbacks if she was reunited with characters from Season 1 or 2 that she got separated from, a dream sequence would be cool, maybe deceased characters appear in Clementine's dream to talk about her decisions.

    3. It's odd not having someone completely religious in the group, the tv show and the comics had quite a few religious characters.

    4. I'd like an animal to be apart of the group in general, maybe a dog or a cat :3 MAYBE... just maybe... a Raccoon!

  • I'd like them to return to the way season 1 was with hubs and minor puzzle-solving. Horrible deaths have more impact if you actually KNEW the character's story. Puzzle-solving elements are a great way to create instant hubs where, as you attempt to solve.....whatever, you talk to the various characters and get pieces of their story as well as clues. It can also make the episode seem longer.

    That's what I want from season 3.

  • It took forever for me to get that train started in season 1. BUT I agree I do like games that have logical puzzles.

  • What I want in season 3;

    Hubs.

    Character development.

Determinate characters not being a mute.

LILLY. (If not in episode 5)

  • Something I've been wanting since Season 1.

A choice where you have to pick to save one character (Carley or Doug), but letting the timer run out will result in them both dying and the story will go on. That would add even more of a replay value to the game. Also, not sure how Telltale can fix this but I think it's cheap when players pause the game just so they are given more time on a decision. I mean, the timer runs out for a reason, you're supposed to pick before it runs out!

Agreed on determinant characters. Now that we know the pattern, as soon as someone gets to be determinant, it's pretty much a sign to stop giving a crap about them. It also makes the writing surrounding the character go downhill. At least that's what happened in Season 2 whereas in Season 1 Carly/Doug situation was much more meaningfully handled.

    Hubs

Season 2 lacked the chances of exploring the environment and chatting with the characters which in turn has caused many of them feel more distant than in Season 1 where you actually had more chances to get to know everyone.

    Minor puzzle-solving

Pretty much linked with hubs. I loved how in S1 you, for example, had to do some minor detective work, figure out how to get the train working, etc. These instances give a great opportunity for hubs instead of just feeling like some artificial padding slapped on the game. "Here's your hub although there's actually no reason to have one, but go look at that random chair/rock/tree over there".

    Diversity among characters

I'm not talking about racial diversity. That's already delightfully well represented. I'm talking more about ethnic and cultural diversity and different subcultures. Like, most survivors we have seen are pretty "ordinary". I would like to see a character who, for example, is/was part of goth culture or hippies, punks, etc. What about different religions? This should be done by showing subtle hints about their earlier and current outlook on life, not to be slapped on our face like "Look I'm a christian since I won't stop preaching about Jesus Christ!" Telltale has already shown it can do well in this department. Walter and Matthew were a couple but, unlike in most media with gay characters, their sexuality wasn't treated like it was the only identifying thing about them.

    Longer episodes

I don't think this really has to be explained...

  • Better writing, longer episodes, hubs, and maybe a hint of "Telltale cares about this franchise."

    1. "The story is tailored to how you play"(choices/dialog that affects the story and characters differently)

    2. More free roaming areas to interact with characters and objects before progressing in the story. Season 1 had lots of this. It was great for building character development and adding more immersion into the game.

    3. A new character like an animal companion, homosexual, religious person, or a once famous person(actor, musician, circus performer, etc.)

    4. More puzzles

    5. 2 hour episodes again

Choices that matter. Longer episodes if possible. Able to interact with characters more when in hubs. Side quests. Determinant characters don't have to die and don't have to be cast side and forgotten about like Nick.

  • "she got lucky"

Bring back Lilly and the us about what happened to her!

  • I'd like to see children, elderly and babies walkers walking around, to be more realistic.

  • Everything you guys already said, plus the sort-of-love-story we had between Lee and Carley in season 1 (but longer) between 2 of the main characters. I would also like to meet a group of crazy people who sacrifice other survivors as an offer for some kind of God-of-the-Walkers. That would be creepy as hell...

  • That's a good idea.
    I like it!

  • I agree, about having a religious character in the next season.
It doesn't make any sense that there isn't one now.

And along with your greater character diversity, how about having a character in the game, that was rich before TWD?
And then to see how the apocalypse has changed them, through the story tell of their previous life?
Or how about one that was a famous entertainer, and who now has become just like any other survivor, who's stardom from before, has but almost been forgotten by others in this new world?

  • Better character development, more meaningful deaths, male children (Why only Duck? There has been 3 female kids.), no wasted deaths, less liabilities, and I don't know how to explain it, but I like the overall looks of the S1 characters more than the S2.

    Also, whats a hub?

  • Waaaaayyy more character development. I wasn't even attatched to most of the characters this season

    1. hubshubshubshubshubs
    2. More character development
    3. More focused goal/objective
    4. Determinates affecting the story more
  • You should watch the movie "The mist", inspired by S.King's novel...that's pretty much what happened there. Religion is often abused in times of crisis.

  • A bit more religious themes for some characters would be good. Like, a guy holds on to a cross necklass that someone he loved gave him, then someone can ask, "why still hold on to that?"

"Hmm? Oh, this? A pastor gave it to me before all this. It gives me a reason to keep going. I can't count how many times I just wanted to... Give up... But every time I look at this, I realize... This is something the world can't take away from me: faith, hope, friendship, purpose. See, I'm not like most people. I can't survive just to survive. I need a reason to keep on, and this... It gives me a reason. I will live the rest of my life to help others, even if it will kill me. My time will come when it comes, I don't need to fear death anymore. This whipes away the one thing that drives most to suicide or insanity: fear."

  • These are not in order, by the way. I just wrote whatever came to my mind first.

    1. Hubs.
    2. Better character development.
    3. Longer episodes.
    4. A new friend that is Clem's age.
    5. No more "liability" characters.
    6. No more Molly repeats (cough Jane cough).
    7. Clem reacting more to situations.
    8. No Lilly, Molly, Nate, Tavia, or Jane returning.
    9. Kenny should stay dead if he dies. (I love Kenny, but let the poor man have his peace. We get it, Telltale, you like to torture him/kill everyone he loves).
    10. If Kenny does somehow survive 205 then I want to know how exactly he survived, if we don't find out in 205. No "I got lucky" bullshit, unless that's being saved for a DLC or something.
    11. If Kenny does survive (which I doubt), then please TTG, stop with killing off any new loved ones. It has gotten very old.
    12. Fewer pointless deaths just to be shocking or edgy.
    13. More story branching and having our choices actually matter....
    14. Have at least one character who gets a determinate status in 301 survive and still have lines all the way up to 305.
    15. A sympathetic antagonist like the Stranger, and not a boring, cliche, overdone, Governor rip-off antagonist like Carver. Basically make the antagonists feel like a real person with shades of grey, and not just 100% morally black like Carver. It's much more interesting.
    16. Arvo still being alive, hopefully. I feel like he has an interesting, tragic story to tell.
    17. At most two writers for the whole season (and any other future TWDG seasons). One of them must be Nick Breckon, and keep the 203 writers far away from anything TWDG related.
    18. More puzzles.
    19. As much as it would break my heart, have Clem lose her mind due to all of the guilt, at least for a little bit.
    20. Creepy zombie worshiping cult.
    21. Have Clem remember her parents more often, too, not just Lee. She knew her parents way longer than she did Lee, Kenny, and Christa combined.
  • Those are great ideas to add to the diversity list. Would indeed be interesting to see how some "high status" person would cope in the ZA where money and fame don't mean anything.

  • I would like there to be no character favouritism on Telltale's part.

I would also like things to become less predictable. Sarita's death was the most predictable thing I've ever seen.

  • I think the only religious person I've seen in TWDG is from Episode One of Season One. That woman who wants to shoot herself because being a walker is 'not Christian'.

Someone should write a letter to Telltale right now.

I'm too shy, but someone should definitley write them an E-Mail with our points.

It's not too late yet, it probably is still in it's planning stages. And who knows, maybe they actually listen to our points.

You don't need to include points on how you want the story to progress, just some of these points.

    Maybe it helps.

  • I agree with 1 and 3.
I just want more puzzles, more development, and more 2 hour episodes.

  • If Clem is the protagonist in the next season it'd be a really cool moment for her to be face to face with a walker about her age. Knowing it's only a matter of time. :(

On the other side, probably longer episodes and hubs. I don't even care about puzzles, I just want hubs.

  • I'd like to see steam release a episode on time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Have a determinable survive longer than 3 episodes.
    2. Have some sort of crazy/deluded person that worships zombies or keeps them as pets or something. The St. John's worked as good antagonists and showed how the apocalypse has made some people crazy.
    3. Make choices have a larger impact. There's too many useless choices that affect nothing, such as giving Victor water or taking Jane's nail file.
    4. Hubs.
  • And Ben.

  • I'd like all characters to be treated with respect, and not overshadowed by someone like Kenny. I want no wasted character arcs, Nick and Sarah seemed like they were going to have a coming of age story, but they were both cut off in the center of their respective arcs. I'd also appreciate determinant characters living for a while, and if they have to be killed, I'd like it to respect their character, I don't want another Nick situation.

  • I personally, stuck by Kenny.
I saw Jane as nothing but manipulative, selfish, and down-right crazy.

The way she berated and ridiculed Kenny in the truck, questioning him as a husband and father, was completely inappropriate and cruel.
I stuck up for Kenny again, like I had been doing the whole time.
And then Jane proved how crazy she was, when she was willing to kill Kenny, all just to prove some bullshit point!

I had stuck by Kenny ever since season 1.
And I stuck by him in season 2.

Jane proved what kind of person she was.
    Completely self-centered!
    Kenny is selfless.
When it game to going into Wellington, Kenny pleaded for them to take the kids, even if meant he stayed behind.
    That's what I call a REAL man.
And one hell of a guy!
