From the way I saw it - the walkers were right on top of you. I honestly didn't think saving her would have worked. I expected it to end the way the Luke situation concluded.
Sarah wanted to be saved. She deserved all the chances I could give her.
Kenny, on the other hand, was provided plenty of chances and th… moree liability he posed was of a more volatile, frightening nature. By Episode 5 he was effectively Carver's spiritual successor and I feared for the safety of anyone Clem was with.
Taking the gamble of saving her worked. Walter shows that compassion always has a risk in a brutal world, but at the same time even Jane herself can't stand being heartless all of the time. And I like to think that the ending where you allow the family to rebuild Howe's Hardware with you is a rejection of Jane's philosophy - trusting strangers is a risk, but in the end it's more practical than making enemies of them.
From the way I saw it - the walkers were right on top of you. I honestly didn't think saving her would have worked. I expected it to end the way the Luke situation concluded.
You see it as doing the 'dirty work for the people he loves' I see it as violent instability. The only predictable thing about Kenny is that he's unpredictable. He'll go nuts at the drop of a hat.
To be real, at that point he was the only one who cared about Clem and the baby, because they were the only ones left, everyone else being dead or traitors (totally not looking at you Mike and Bonnie).
And it had nothing to do with him saving them. He just wanted to know they're safe, and you can't deny that this always was his goal.
In the end, Kenny even says he doesn't trust himself to keep them safe, and that kind of quote doesn't come from someone who only cares about himself. He sacrificed himself for Clem and AJ, knowing full well that he was going to die out there alone. That's what Lee would have done. That's the complete opposite of what you described.
It wasn't about saving Clem and AJ it was about HIM saving Clem and AJ. He couldn't see past his own ego to notice that he wasn't the only one looking out for Clem and that he might be wrong in his decisions.
I think the same thing when people who hate Jane try to paint her as a manipulator despite the fact that everything she said about the Kenny situation was true and she returned out of concern for Clem when she had no earthly reason to.
I don't hate Kenny, by the way. I experienced a different Kenny than the people who sided with him in Season 1. I disagreed with him. Kenny isn't such a great guy when you disagree with him.
It wasn't about saving Clem and AJ it was about HIM saving Clem and AJ. He couldn't see past his own ego
Guy makes a wonderful sacri… morefice but SOMEHOW in the distorted minds of Kenny-haters this is actually something he can still be blamed for.
Stop it, you're being utterly ridiculous.
If Kenny wanted it to be all about himself, then why in the hell did he let Clem and AJ go to Wellington without him? That makes zero sense. He sacrificed everything for AJ and Clem in the end, there is absolutely no debating that. It was heroic in every sense of the word. Kenny's done a ton of bad shit, but the Wellington endings? That's just about the most selfless thing he's ever done.
It wasn't about saving Clem and AJ it was about HIM saving Clem and AJ. He couldn't see past his own ego to notice that he wasn't the only one looking out for Clem and that he might be wrong in his decisions.
And yet she could have stopped it at any time by saying AJ was still alive. And if you try and tell Jane to back off when Clem gets between her and Kenny, she shoves Clem out of the way and clearly wants Kenny dead. I'm not justifying what Kenny did. He went batshit loco and tried to murder someone, but Jane is the one who was pushing his buttons and sent him over the edge in the first place. Both of them were wrong, both of them were nuts. Jane is just as at fault for what happened as Kenny is.
Exactly its not like she "made" Kenny try to kill her, yes she did hide the baby to show Clem how much of a monster he is but in the end, it… more is Kenny who chose to try to murder her, murdering Jane wouldn't bring AJ back, Jane pulled her knife out and told Kenny to back off and then she sheathed it which showed she wasn't down to fight but then Kenny was all like "fuck that" and attacked her, he deserved to die.
I don't understand it either. The Wellington ending just shows what a great guy Kenny still is, deep, deep inside. Lee wouldn't have done anything else, but people just need reasons to keep hating on Kenny without reason, it seems.
And it's funny how everyone says Jane is saner.
She's not! The woman was completley nuts, way more than Kenny ever was. She talks about her dead sister all the time, and obviously wants Clem to take Jamie's role now.
She has manipulated her, lied to her and left them when they needed her the most.
Jane fans that say Kenny only cares about himself should really reconsider their point of view. Kenny cares about noone but himself and Clementine and AJ.
Jane cares about noone but herself. Not even about Clem. Jane left AJ for dead, I'm sure she would have gladly left him there if he hadn't screamed.
She doesn't care about Clem. She cared about Jamie. And to her, Clem is now Jamie.
even if he made a sacrifice for Clem and AJ in the Wellington ending, he was only willing to make that sacrifice because they were doing wha… moret he wanted, which shows that he didn't really care about doing the "right" thing as much as he cared about being "right"
Wow. Just wow. The lengths you people go to try to turn everything good Kenny does into another reason why people should dislike him, it's... amazing.
We dont dislike him , we just see what he is doing wrong . lets pretend jane really got aj killed by an accident . yes , i would have been pissed to , but killing her ? you (and most of the fans) have a problem . you justify his bad actions. open your eyes and face the fact , that kenny became insane . he already did , so should you .

We clearly experienced different Kennys. I never got the loyal Kenny because I had the nerve to disagree with his bullheaded plans. After Lily snapped, thanks to Kenny killing Larry, the only person consistently in my group was antagonistic to the extreme.
Now you are being unfair.

It felt rather good. He was annoying the hell out of me. When Jane went all regretfull about lying and stuff, i was like; no sweat sister, good riddance. Let's go!
I ended up with Jane and the baby and let the family in.
The death of Kenny reminded me of when Rick killed Shane on the show. I didn't hate Shane, either, but as bad as it felt Shane had to die and so did Kenny.
Oh my god, I killed Kenny!

Lee's relationship to Kenny has no influence on Clementine's relationship with him whatsoever.
Even if he hated Lee, he still cared for Clementine all along. In Season 2, one single line is influenced by Kenny's relationship to Lee.
From there on, Clem can build up their relationship entirely new.
And even if you say the most hate-and hurtful things to him, he still wants you to be save. Even if you shoot him, he says it was right of Clem to do it.
We clearly experienced different Kennys. I never got the loyal Kenny because I had the nerve to disagree with his bullheaded plans. After Li… morely snapped, thanks to Kenny killing Larry, the only person consistently in my group was antagonistic to the extreme.
I don't think Kenny wanted to live anyway just like Luke he lost all the people he loves and he kept talking about them I believe all what he wanted is to be with them..
Wrong. Clem trusted Lee more than anyone and would have had her opinion of Kenny filtered through that lens.
She still would have witnessed his behavior and would form her views of him through those events.
Because even he understands how far he's fallen and that he was wrong to try to murder Jane. But realizing that after the fact doesn't absolve him or make him less dangerous.

But she DID manipulate both Clem and Kenny. Twist and turn her action any way you want, it doesn't change the fact she made them believe the baby was dead while he was not, with the sole purpose of changing Clementine's opinion of him.
everything she said about the Kenny situation was true
Provoking a situation to make it concur with your opinion is very different from being proven right. "I said this dog was a dangerous biter and I was right, look at how he bit me after I kicked him"... Her move was plain dumb and irresponsible, and let's not even talk about morals.
I don't hate Kenny, by the way. I experienced a different Kenny than the people who sided with him in Season 1. I disagreed with him. Kenny isn't such a great guy when you disagree with him.
Now I totally respect that and I agree, one's opinion of Kenny depends a lot on one's first season.
Doesn't make this reasoning "even his best redeeming sacrifice moments are actually evidences he is selfish" any less baseless and dumbfounding.
I think the same thing when people who hate Jane try to paint her as a manipulator despite the fact that everything she said about the Kenny… more situation was true and she returned out of concern for Clem when she had no earthly reason to.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. Clem is better off with Jane than any of the others. I shot Kenny for the simple fact that he was wrong. I shot him for the same reason I wished I could have shot Lily.
Kenny had already demonstrated a violent steak with Carver and Arvo. He flipped out when anyone dared to disagree with him. He went from moments of catatonia to being violently angry at the drop of a hat. Jane didn't say anything I wasn't already thinking. Half of the time I was wondering why it took so long for her to catch up to my train of thought. Everybody was afraid of Kenny - for good reason. I was afraid of Kenny. I didn't know if he was going to shake my hand or break my face near the end.

For the "emotionally harms her" part, he apologizes. At the end at Wellington, he said "I want you to meet people who don't regret what they have done to you every time they see you." He cares about Clem more than Jane ever would have.
Kenny, though dangerous at times, would never hurt Clem
Kenny purposely shoves Clem out of the way because hes pissed at Jane and du… moree to his anger issues he can determinantly elbow Clem in the nose, not to mention how he emotionally harms her.
I think they would see/smell them anyway if they walked around. So it was the best option to covering herself with walker blood. But maybe she could covering herself and AJ in blood and then still walk around the herd.
Yeah, perhaps you're right.
Would have helped to know what was on the other side of the herd and if it was worth the risk though. She could have walked around, or turned back.
I'm not sure what Clem's destination is at that point.
Disagree with him as Clem and see that Kenny is emotionally manipulative and if you can't see how obsessive/possessive he is you haven't been paying attention.
For the "emotionally harms her" part, he apologizes. At the end at Wellington, he said "I want you to meet people who don't regret what they have done to you every time they see you." He cares about Clem more than Jane ever would have.
Yeah definitely see the analogy. I thought Shane was a douchebag too. Nobody steals my chick and lives
Kenny just was a beserker. He was too overbearing and dominant. Shoving Clem away and stuff. No respect for others or for Clem. Jane is just the wiser choice. Pulling that trick with the baby wasnt the prettiest, but all in all and apart from the commitmentissues, she aint that bad. I don't trust her, but as a companion, she is a wise choice.
The death of Kenny reminded me of when Rick killed Shane on the show. I didn't hate Shane, either, but as bad as it felt Shane had to die and so did Kenny.
When Kenny was about to stab Jane, the only right thing to do for me was to pull the trigger.
After finding out about Jane's "plot", I was pretty pissed, but ditching Jane would have more or less equaled suicide, so I went with her. I kind of did get her intentions of "showing what Kenny was capable of", I constantly had a feeling that Kenny really was a timebomb just waiting to blow. Through the entire second season you can just tell that Kenny was quite unstable. Never willing to compromise, always so snappy and short-tempered.. You cant blame him, after everything he's been through. I really wanted to stay loyal to him, but I just couldnt agree with the way he was doing things.
Also, I just couldn't help but feel that Kenny thought of AJ as somekind of a replacement for Duck.. He just needed somebody to take care of, because he didn't really care about himself anymore. And Im pretty sure he would have been willing to do some crazy stuff to ANYONE that tried to get in the way of him looking after that baby.
The ending where he selfessly tries to get Clem and AJ into Wellington does sort of debunk many of my comments about him... But there was no way for me to know that during my original playthrough. At that point, killing him was the only reasonable option in my eyes.
You guys disagree with me but you're not really giving good reasons to why I'm wrong, you're just arguing to why you don't like Jane in comparison. What further solidifies my point is that if you shoot Kenny he thanks you and admits to being out of control, and hell, he even admits it if you don't shoot him. It just shows that he would have rather died than be proven wrong.
Also, I don't understand how people get so angry at Jane for tricking the both of them. Sure, it may have been a bit unorthodox, but it's not like she tried to murder Kenny like he did to her. Also, several times when you try to break them up during the fight, he violently shoves you aside so he can continue to try to beat the shit out of Jane like a madman; that alone made me lose hope in him as a character.
I don't understand it either. The Wellington ending just shows what a great guy Kenny still is, deep, deep inside. Lee wouldn't have done an… moreything else, but people just need reasons to keep hating on Kenny without reason, it seems.

Just for the sake of asking, do those of you who think that Jane could've just called it off? I doubt that was actually an option. If we're being realistic about Kenny here, he really didn't like Jane, and if she had tried to call it off I'm pretty sure it would just come off as if she was lying to not be murdered, and if that were the case she'd still be justified, because he's trying to kill her over what she said was an accident.
even if he made a sacrifice for Clem and AJ in the Wellington ending, he was only willing to make that sacrifice because they were doing wha… moret he wanted, which shows that he didn't really care about doing the "right" thing as much as he cared about being "right"

Jane "carried her sister across four states" kept her going the entire time even though her sister didn't want to continue and eventually she just couldn't do it anymore. There's only so far you can drag someone before they begin to drag you down with them.

It was shown the baby doesn't cry around Clementine and isn't old enough to See Walkers as anything scary/threat.
The baby doesn't cry around Clem though, the narrative told us that.
Kenny Leaving you at Wellington and learning to let go was a fine ending too. But Jane is troubling. She's obsessive and manipulative.

You do know Lee is most known for going through hell to save Clementine, right?
Look at the leave Kenny ending. The baby cries then.
Voicing concerns is a little different from taking action and manipulating the situation. To be truthful she didn't have to prove anything.
