Can we trust Randy (The Father on Jane's Ending) ?

I'm not sure about this guy

On one hand he seems nice ( Although people have pointed out he might be abusive towards his wife)

On the other he has a gun (That probably has more bullets that Clem's) so he can pull it out and take over

But then if you tell them to F*** OFF! he wont use it!

I'm also terrified he might become a Kenny 2.0 ( and if you chose this that ended REALLY BADLY) that has no love or care toward Clem (making him EVIL incarnate)

But telltale could just be teasing us and he might be fine

What do you guys's think?

  • Clem might be able to, but will Jane? Will they trust you? What about the next group of survivors that will come along? Will they get along with each other? Will they get along with Clem and Jane? Will Jane find herself too uncomfortable with taking in more and more people, that is, if they plan to stay at Howe's forever? Can they even stay at Howe's for long, what with the established herd roaming the forests around it, and the real lack of any resources surrounding the area?

These are the questions that I ask when I think about the Jane ending, not just whether or not Randy is trustworthy.

  • I'm Trying to answer on at a time ill ask the other ones Latter

But thanks it's good too see people conserned about Jane's relation to other people ( Although if you wait she let's them in)

  • I'm pretty sure he will kill Jane, since she is a determinant and all.

Everyone has guns. I would be surprised they lasted that long if he didn't. I dont think it means anything necessarily, just that Clem and Jane will keep an extra eye out. I liked the little boy though. "Cool hat." Oooh, Clemmie's got a boyfriend....

  • The moment I saw that he was armed I got a bad feeling.

  • Can we trust Kenny?

  • Better be safe than sorry : Jane should check how he reacts when she fakes his boy's death. If he loses his shit, it means he was crazy all along and Jane should kill him. Of course Jane won't be able to do it herself so Clementine will have to shoot him.

  • Determinant Boyfriend i hope

  • You can trust that he'd look after the kids. It's what a real man does, and that's what he lives for.

  • Those questions have no real answer, at least none showed in the game. Trying to make a justified answer to any of these questions will only lead to an argument of hypotheticals.

One thing is for sure though. Howe's is a temporary shelter at best. Eventually, Jane and Clem will have to move on elsewhere.

  • Basically all of those questions are just as valid to ask about Wellington :p

  • True but it just seems weird to me you know like why would you worry about love when trying to survive?

  • Being with people is part of survival. You cant just turn off your feelings. No one is going to be dating per se. People just sort of fall together.

No. There is no threat of walkers in Wellington. There is no responsibility for Clem to manage the acceptance of new survivors in Wellington. If bandits were to come and make a raid attempt, Clem wouldn't need to deal with it at Wellington, but she would have to at Howe's. She would have to be shot at if Howe's was attacked, and she would have to be ready to either flee at a moment's notice or defend the fort if another herd of walkers attacks.

There are a couple logical flaws when it comes to staying at Howe's, from security stability to trust issues between newcomers. Wellington is already an established community that trusts themselves, and it already has a reinforced perimeter to keep everything outside. The only flaw with Wellington is the idea that the people there could be bad, but with Edith providing all the supplies to Kenny (and Clem if she refuses to stay), when they didn't need to in the first place, that shows they're friendly to strangers at the very least.

  • I like it better that Clem and Jane are building their own community and at least they have familiarity with the building and the area. In the comics and on the show, the group takes in people and forms new communities all the time.

  • The other two seemed nice, but he was the reason I didn't let them in.

  • My point is that this "Randy" is quite similar to Kenny when we first met him - he's a macho father, he's rather fearless, and he seems to have quite the simmering temper. It's also likely the reason why Jane was so hesitant to "go through all this again." He may even try to take charge of the rebuilding process and effectively become Carver's successor.

Despite all this, I trust his family more than I would him. By working together, Jane and Clementine may be able to rein him in rather than let him dominate everyone.

I thought you were talking about Randy Tudor LOL

  • I don't really care, because most likely, the Jane ending wasn't cannon.

  • Yeah, Randy would be justified in beating the snot out of her once he finds out that she has a habit of faking kids' deaths just to "test" their loved ones.

the fist moment i saw that guy i thought he might be one of his "do EVERYTHING to protect his loved ones" guy. i really liked the implication that clem might after all still get herself in a similar situation.

i let them in. it seemed unlikely someone would send 3 people as scouts. (one of them a kid) and probably forcing desperate people to take what they need seemed far more dangerous. especially since a young woman a girl and a baby are not very deterrent.

also nobody forces clem to stay with them.

  • Drop it. Now. All of you.

    It's getting old.

  • Well Yeah like i said above He might be a "Clem less Kenny" witch i the long run is REALLY BAD

Umm what? There is no one true canon. Also the jane ending is the majority so they would piss A LOT of people off

Game just came out, I just don't see them picking Jane over Kenny sorry. From what i understand she was just a replacement for Luke anyways.

  • So you like that Clem has to help build a community of strangers, instead of joining one? You like that she will be put into the dangers of defending the fort, either out of gunfire or walker encounters? You like how her life is now at a greater risk now that she's back at Howe's, where walker herds have occurred before, and she will have to either get used to forsaking people to die or accepting the wrong ones in?

Alright. I won't argue against that.

  • Hopefully we will get to see Randy's family again, because their lives are not determinant and I personally like the idea of Clem knowing a boy her age. I assume that even in the endings where Clem either goes to Wellington or remains in the wilderness, Randy would have colonized Howe's Hardware anyway.

  • Because love is a fundamental part of humanity, and exploring its themes in an apocalypse is just as valid as any other focus of a story arc, let alone the tangential character building moments its attributed too.
