To try again in a couple months and he'd probably be let in. If Clem and AJ stayed in Wellington.

Would that have impacted your decision? Cause if you stay at Wellington, pretty sure he doesn't think of coming back.

And surviving alone for a few months could be better than nurturing a baby out there.
(Go Clem. Kill someone in Wellington to make room for Kenny.)

    I don't see why Edith doesn't tell this in both endings, I guess in the ending where he leaves it would be anticlimatic (when can she say that without breaking the feels?) and has been written this way for more feels.
