    1. Apocalypse just started when Lee and Clem met so how could they know anything about fighting walkers
    2. Clem was then 8/9 years old she's 11 and a half now and you think Jane would think that Clem will survive if she was there at that time the apocalypse started?
    3. Jane learned fighting walkers because she had the time to learn their weak sopts and what weapon is best to use
    4. Lee teached Clem how to shoot a gun he gave her a smart haircut and teached how to make a plan (and yes i know that the Homeless guy sorry but i forgot his name, told Lee to teach her)
    5. The first time Lee met Clem what was he suposed to do teach her how to shoot a gun?! she was 8 years then do you understand!?!?
and she almost killed AJ and Kenny in ep 5 did Lee tried to kill Kenny?!, no i don't think so so that makes Lee much Better person than Jane, Lee protected Clem with his LIFE as for Jane i don't think she'l ever do that (and sorry for my English it's not my 1'st language).
  • Sure Jane taught her some new tricks and stuff but they were like 2 YEARS into the apocalypse. Everybody has some grasp on how to take care of themselves and deal with the walkers now. The ZA just started when Lee and Clementine met each other. Of course they didn't have a clue on what was going on. Hell, Jane didn't even know what to do. It takes time to learn and to adapt to the new environment you are in, which is what Lee, Clem, and Jane did. Don't expect these people to come up with a solution up the top of their head.

  • But Kenny wasn't at fault like i just showed you in my first comment everyone else was the problem, Mike tried running away with a man who tried to get the group killed with all their supplies.

Jane was wrong about Kenny if she had not of hide that baby to try and anger him. Jane started that fight between them for no reason.

Also i never said that Lee was a better mentor because he got to her first he is a better mentor because he taught her how to survive, shoot and scavenge and in my play throw the last thing Lee told Clem was to stay away from cities which is a smart thing to do. Jane did not teach anything to Clem apart from that leg trick which really anyone can do like i said in my first comment.

jane got herself killed trying to get clem away from kenny, who was from her point of few the greatest danger to her. everyone went off b

  • Honestly, doesn't Clem pick up stuff from everyone that she is with? I think all the group members as a whole influence how Clem matures. I don't think there is one true mentor.

  • That is who I was talking to.

Oh yes Travestron did. No,we're part of the sane mind for survival, unlike them ignorant & naive Kenny fanboy.

  • Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you was replying to me. I have a hard time telling where the...erm, "Reply Box" is sometimes.

yep she's a better mentor * manipulate or give sexual pleasures to use people for your purpose. * abandon anyone to save themselves

  • That's okay.

  • what about troy ? he also says when he is about to die '' we gotta get bath before we.....'' . she was basically fucking him to manipulate and use him but as she had the upper hand she shot his d*ck off and attracted the walkers.

What's wrong with liking someone? LOL She liked Luke and Luke liked her. Like Mike said, Luke is casanova :P Kenny abandons anyone for a kid that's not even his. LMAO

  • To me, Lee will always be the better mentor.

  • A mentor to me is someone who provides trusted counsel and models behaviours which you would want to live by, so it comes down to the basic question of who do you want your Clem to be?

I noticed alot of people are commenting that Jane/Christa taught Clem alot of skills (like the knee kick trick, building a fire, stitches ect) but that doesn't necessarily make them mentors, that would make them teachers or instructors. Look at your own life would you consider every school teacher, university professor or work collegue a mentor or a teacher?

I think that if it is your preference Jane could certainly be a chosen mentor for Clem, as could Kenny, Luke or even Carver (you monster). She could decide to follow their philosophys on how to survive and It isn't uncommon to have more than one mentor during your life or change your mind on how you view the world.

For me personally it will always be Lee as a mentor for Clem and that is because I chose who Lee was during Season 1 and during Season 2 I tailored Clem's choices based on those same characteristics which is a legacy I would like to continue throughout the series.

  • Because Jane was in the apocalypse for 2 years!!! Lee was new to this

clementine would also not be alive if it where not for luck, luck, luck and even more luck. yes, she also told clem things she already know. but it took clem an eternity to find it out. and jane told her immediately everything,

  • Lee is the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be. Jane is all about teaching Clem to survive, whereas Lee is trying to teach her to follow her morals because when the worlds gone to shit that's all you'll have.

  • I've decided to just give my opinion without reading the whole thread because I've been drinking and allow myself things like that when I do.

Jane is smart and knows a lot about surviving, knows some good trick, and seems to genuinely care for Clementine(important for being a mentor) but she is manipulative(this is clear throughout), and Clementine doesn't trust her; not completely; nowhere near the way she trusted Lee. Her age has a little to do with it, but those initial interactions between the characters are quite important and vastly different.

So I'd have to say no. She's not a better mentor than Lee.

  • Is not the same leaping in a glacier, when Walkers are slower than usual because of the cold, and falling to the water themselves, than go to a cornered place, surrounded by walkers. If her sister wanted to be saved, would Jane have attempted to save her?

Anyway, that's why Lee is better. Lee would've died with Clementine there too. He wouldn't just go on without her.

How? Jane almost leaped herself into the frozen glacier and pulled Clementine out, carried her and ran to the house.

  • I think OP's reasoning fails when you say that Clem was 8 with Lee. She is 11 with Jane.

  • Nah. Lee was the best.

  • Jane is a better survivalist, while Lee was more adept in matters of diplomacy. It's a shame they never met. He could've kept a group together and she could've kept them alive.

  • True,
    beautifully written c: :D

  • Don't make me laugh.

  • the same "dream lee" that told clem duck's bite might just be like a cold?

mine was not even interested in finding out what people ate the day before, when handing out food.

  • like he did not want to harm her by searching for ever for the parents he knew were dead?

there is a slow way to prepare children for bad news. but to just wait months and make them false hope is nothing more then torture.

  • If Lee had come out and said "YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD, GET OVER IT". I could see her running away to find them easy. Clem was in a state where unless she saw them herself, she would never believe they were dead. I could tell my Lee was trying to tell her on a few occasions but she just started crying or brushed it off as "no...it did not happen, you just wish they were" (Ouch...I winced when she told me that).

Sometimes people well believe their own point of view regardless of what you do or say....that hardly makes Lee a bad mentor in fact, it shows he picked his battles unlike Jane.

there are many traumatized children that have been told their parents are dead and they believed it. and with a zombi apocalypse going on it becomes just more convincing. there are gentle ways to break bad news to children. start with the dad being bitten message and walk your way forward. but not to tell them at all?! he had months of time and did nothing.

she did run away. have you forgotten? and it was lee's fault.

only talking away the walkie talkie and then letting her have it. what did he expect would happened? how can you entrust a child to a convicted convict, that is depending on your play style ether to naive to keep that girl alive or to rash and violent to let her grow up to be a sane person.
