Why Mike thought Rebecca would be annoyed wearing the Grey Coat?

BTW, instead of associating the uniform of a confederate trooper automatically with the minority of rich slaver owners, he should have realized that most people who wore and died in this uniform were young poor frightened fellows thrown into Hell, starving, who had to see their friends blown in pieces by cannon fire, shrapnel and gatlings. And when all is said and done, he as survivor in terrible times of the ZA, everytime he felt hunger, pain, everytime he was scared, had more in common than he'd ever believe with a white southerner from poor background of the civil war era who died before his time after seeing his friends die absurd and cruel deaths without understanding very well why he had to fight.

In the winter of 65, we were hungry, just barely alive...

I loved Rebecca for telling Mike how stupid he was to even think she would care in her situation. He pissed me off so much there. Serious

  • I'm from the UK and at my school they never covered it, from what I remember history was heavily based around Roman, tudor times, plague, great fire of London and the world wars lightly in primary school then mostly about english civil war, WW1 & WW2, Agricultural & Industrial revolution Year 7 to 9 of secondary school. Then if you took history for GCSE from what I was told it was mostly focused on the wall street crash and other topics of recent history but not the civil war... I think it really depends from school to school and what topics they choose to cover. I was never taught about the civil war (from what I remember) at school, but taught myself because I enjoy history.

I live in Europe and we learn about it in the 3-4 year of secondary school, I don't know why you can't believe they don't teach it in some countries.

Same I just did a few comment above yours in reply to someone, saying what we was taught about and that it really depends what topics schools decide to cover. They're not all the same.

Yeah, I'm British and we were never taught about the Civil War in school at all...

  • The people doing face palms and insults need to stop. Not everyone is born in America or taught American history. It was an important note in history but not everyone is that into history. How many of you know about the Cold War or the Mexican Revolution or the damn Chinese Civil war? Thats right! China had a civil war and it was in the 1920s-1940s.

Hypocrites don't know about that shit? Than STFU. It shouldn't be required to know it or I can call you an idiot for not knowing those wars I mentioned! The willingness to learn about history is whats important not that you don't already know it!

  • im sorry i can't hear you over the wars that were a lot more deadly

You'd think you don't have to be american to know about one of the deadliest wars in human history don't you think?

  • you don't have to be a prick about it. not everyone learns about the american civil war.

  • I'm confused, are you still refering to the American Civil War? I'm not sure how that's one of the most deadly, what with it being based in N.America, rather than across continents, like the world wars or Crusades, etc. I'd call them more deadly in terms of scope and lives lost, personally.

You'd think you don't have to be american to know about one of the deadliest wars in human history don't you think?

  • That's still the same continent. Why would countries on the other side of the world automatically study it? Especially when there's a good chance they have their own country's history to prioritise, and probably their own country's civil war (many have had at least one).

I'm Canadian and I knew this. It's one of the most well documented wars in history. It was covered in my history classes in elementary schoo

A joke added to lighten things made you pissed with that character?

  • Lol Mortal Kombat. Oh no! Pixilated blood and boobs! And can you believe they can say "bitch" on TV now? What is the world coming to?

M-Rated games from the 90s are a joke now. They're primitive compared today's offerings. Don't let nostalgia blind you.

The South believed that land owners had the right to own slaves.
And the Union wasn't alright with that.
Plus the South was making a killing in cotton, and the Union wanted a piece of the action.

Anyway, the whole idea of Slavery, was why Mike and Bonnie thought Rebecca might object to the confederate coat.
Which, considering they were in freezing weather, was completely ridiculous.
She ended a coat to keep her warm, period!

  • Ooooh nice! Lets blatantly ignore my point so you can look better than me.

  • it was a lot of factors, which ended up where the south left the union because of upcoming pressure from the north.

One of the major reasons being that the Confederates invested a lot of money in owning people and making it illegal to own people would end up severely damaging their economy. Not only would they lose a majority of the money they invested buying the people they'd lose a majority of their "workforce."
