I said nothing about demonizing them. I just didn't trust them because they immediately locked Clem in a cold shed, alone, with no food or water, along with an untreated bite that could become infected. The fact that Carlos couldn't tell a dog bite from a walker bite two years into the apocalypse, and not to mention he's a doctor, left me feeling suspicious of their intentions.
There wasn't anything inherently untrustworthy about them. They treated Clem like a threat because she was a threat. You can be wary of people without demonizing them.
That smile was meant to disarm him - get him to lower his guard - a fake smile. That voice and smile were supposed to make her appear non-threatening.
Sadism is not the act itself but the reason for the act. Doing something that inflicts pain is not sadistic in and of itself. If you think about it he wouldn't be very good bait if he was dead. He needed to be moving and making noise.
Nobody deserves it, you say? That's naive. A lot of people deserve a lot of things that we don't do because we live in societies governed by laws.
I don't have a screenshot of the scene, but that creepy as hell smile Jane had on her face sure made it look like she was enjoying what she … morewas about to do. I'm sure she would have watched if it weren't for the walkers. She didn't have to shoot him in the dick, she could have shot him in the chest, or she could have just killed him which would be just as good of a distraction. But she didn't. She shot him in the dick, that is sadistic.
My major point being that one incident against somebody that deserved it doesn't equal sadism. People too often use words that they don't properly understand.
Sadistic or not, if Jane was merciful with taking out Troy she would've shot Troy somewhere where it would have killed him immediately. She … moreshot him in a place where he'd not die immediately, but the Walkers were certain to get him. She wanted him to suffer. Now, I'm not saying she is a sadist, but she wanted Troy to suffer. (And personally I wanted to see him suffer to for being such an asshole, because that's just karma IMO.)
sadistic- deriving pleasure from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others.
I don't think that smile was only to disarm him, fake or not, I believe she was actually excited about what she planned to do. That was the most threatening smile I've ever seen in the game(excluding gorked out Nate that is).Shooting Troy in the dick not only inflicts a large amount of pain and suffering, but is also pretty damn humiliating for a man. The blood is what attracts walkers, and he wouldn't have died immediately if she shot him somewhere else.
Wow, and I thought I would be ruthless in the apocalypse. I would never shoot a guy in the dick, just as I would never shoot a girl in the vagina. That's just fucked up.

It's only humiliating in a situation where you could survive. It's a death sentence in the apocalypse. There wasn't any evidence that she derived pleasure from shooting him. It's only sadistic if you don't actually pay attention to the fact that it's describing a consistent set of behaviors that indicate a pathology that you don't have any evidence for.
Sadism - the tendency to derive pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others.
Tendency implies a pattern of behavior indicative of a pathology.

Kenny is a vampire and he leeches life out of others as he kills them and this keeps him going. We can see this multiple times over the game… more.
* Larry. He kills Larry without hesitation, just showing how he needs to kill humans

What's to be suspicious about? They don't trust Clementine. If they keep her around she might be infected (bad writing) and if they let her go she might take their location back to carver - a justifiable fear. Clementine is a threat to them either way. They're being cautious.

It's humiliating either way, Troy was under the impression that she liked him, and then she just turns around ans shoots him in the dick. He dies knowing that the girl he was into was just using him and shot him in the dick, how is that not humiliating?
We aren't arguing whether or not Jane is a sadist, we are talking about whether or not the way in which she dealt with Troy was sadistic or not. Which it was. Hence the reason why I posted the definition of "sadistic" and not "sadism".

Seeing as I'm playing as Clem, I don't really care how they feel about the situation. All I know is that Clem need their help, they didn't help her and she almost died because of that, and for some reason they do a complete 180 and all of a sudden rely on Clem for everything. For that, I am suspicious of them.

Jaime existed, or Jane is just a really good actor why would Jane make up a story about leaving her sister that makes her look bad?
If she really made up Jaime dont you think she would have made Jaime's death make her look better, not "Yeah i left Jaime to die" plus she brought up Jaime before theyre was a Kenny problem.

There has been no indication that Troy is getting sexual favors from any of the prisoners, except for Jane. Judging from the last interaction Jane had with Troy, Troy was under the impression that Jane was just as into it as he was. It's also obvious that Jane was manipulating Troy to escape the pen, but abandoned that act as soon as she saw that she could just escape with the rest of the group. Troy is an asshole, but that doesn't make him a sexual deviant or a rapist. And you can't have a debate without attempting to put down your opponent can you? I haven't insulted you once, and am still able to get my point across, are you just incapable of being civil?
At the time, we've only known the cabin group for less than a day. Of course I'm going to care more about the character I've known since season 1, not to mention the character I am playing as.
Saying you're naive is not an insult, it's an observation.
He was under the impression that she was into it because she was lying to him with that fake smile and the altered voice. Troy is more than an asshole. He enjoys inflicting harm upon people. At the time of the group's arrival Jane was the only female prisoner they had - obviously he was only looking to get sexual favors from her. Using a position of authority like that is a form of rape. The subject is nuanced.

Jane presented herself very heroically. She said she carried Jamie for months across three states.
This was the backdrop for making the "reasonable" argument that people should be abandoned and left to die. The point isn't just to make yourself "look good", it's to influence someone toward thinking a certain way or plant the seeds of an idea.
"Even I, powerful and good and trustworthy Jane, left my own flesh and blood to die! Twas the only option! You can leave people to die too! It's better this way! Right Clem? wink wink."
It's very skillful manipulation and lying.
Think back: When did Jane first discuss her "sister"? When Jane was building a case for Rebecca to let her baby die.
And it was Rebecca who actually gave Jane the idea about her sister's fate: "What happened, she died?"

Saying your using name calling and trying to act superior isn't an insult, it's an observation.
I'll tell you one thing, we don't know for sure that Jane was being raped, or if Jane was using her body to get favors. But if we look at the facts, ... nope, still unclear. We are given subtle hints and events and conversations that allow us to make our own decisions. I believe that @Tinni and myself included believe that Jane was using her body to further herself was what was going on. And I believe that you took the Jane and Troy situation as being a rape situation. I'm not going to argue with what you perceived, but you have to argue with what others think because it's not aligning with your opinions. Just an observation.

Is is sadistic or general indifference? Choose one. Because a sadistic act cannot be indifferent. The hallmark of a sadistic act is not the pain itself but the enjoyment gained by inflicting it.
I always did find Jane's smile, and general indifference to shooting Troy in the dick/leaving him to get eaten by walkers pretty disturbing.… more She is a rather stoic and unfeeling person in her debut, but whenever Clem was around she adapted this "misunderstood warrior with a tragic past" persona. It was such a drastic change from her original personality, it is possible that she's just afraid to get close to people again..but then I think of that infamous creepy smile and I'm not so sure. And as I said in a previous post, she knows how to fake emotions, and lie convincingly to reach her goal, who's to say she wasn't lying from the beginning?
And I believe that you took the Jane and Troy situation as being a rape situation. I'm not going to argue with what you perceived, but you have to argue with what others think because it's not aligning with your opinions. Just an observation.

I was not clear. The act itself was sadistic, and the smile she had on her face indicated that she was enjoying what she was about to do. What I considered indifferent was how she acts afterwards, as though she didn't just shoot a guy in the dick and leave him for dead.

I think it's quite obvious that I care more about Clem than the cabin group, in fact I'm pretty sure that everyone playing cared more about Clem in that moment, and didn't trust the cabin group. I already listed why I didn't agree with their methods, and why I was suspicious of them. Jane also says it was better to leave Jaime or you should, she says it ate away at her for a long time and later said she says Jaime didnt want to live anymore.
Anyways i doubt the writers of Episode 4 went that detailed into characters to the point were characters lied about there passed family members, if they did we probably wouldve found out in episode 5 as a way to make Jane look worse.
