Who and what do you think Daryl Dixon is?

A short while ago, I heard a rumor that some claim that Daryl Dixon might be gay.
And I also heard that the show's creators have also toyed with that idea.
Whether or not those rumors is actually true or not, I don't know.

Well it got me to thinking about the idea, and honestly I don't see him that way.
Especially when I considered his relationship with Carroll, though it was not sexual persay, you still got hints of an attraction between the two.
His concern for Carroll, their flirting with each other, and his anger when Rick banished her, seemed to indicate he was not only attracted to her, but that he also liked her.

And while he was traveling with Beth, sometimes the way they acted, almost seemed to indicate an attraction there as well, more so on her part; as Daryl is obviously a very emotionally guarded individual.
Whether or not there was actually a thing developing between those two or not, I dont exactly know nor do I care.
One thing is for certain is that Beth was able to help Daryl open up.

I think Daryl is a straight guy.
And since he came from a broken home, is obviously very guarded.
So it's obviously hard for him to connect with and relate to other people, though not impossible.
That's what I think Daryl Dixon is.

As far as who I think he is.
I think he is a very loyal man.
Who also has the ability to be very caring, although he has trouble showing it.
And I also think that he's an intelligent man, even though he may have not had much of a formal education, that we know of.
( Just because a man may never have had a chance to go to school, or complete it, doesn't mean he's stupid.)
He's obviously grown significantly since the show's beginning.
And will be interesting to see what Season 5 has in store for him.

As for any surprises we might learn about him.
It honestly would not surprise me if Daryl was married before the apocalypse, at one time.
Perhaps Daryl even had a child.
( The reason I say he may have had a child, is that when Sophia turned up dead, his reaction reminded me of how a father might react.)
But because of the example he had in his Dad about being a husband and father, it didn't work out.
Not to say Daryl was abusive, but because of the piss-poor example his Dad gave him, he didn't know how to be a good husband, or dad.
