Mike didn't really have a character yet. I felt Jane was perfectly in character, but I felt it was a pity that there wasn't drawn any simila… morerities between her and Kenny at all.
It would have made the Jane vs. Kenny choice a whole lot more impactful on me if they had shared a moment or two of agreement or cooperation instead of just being opposed to each other all the time. It felt a bit too kindergarden'y to me.
Yeah I picked Kenny over Jane. I just felt like it was forced. like the developers were like "We need to finish this game up. We are behind schedule. Hurry lets kill some people and get it over with."
Jane may well have hidden the baby to prove a point but the biggest thing I got from her character was that she was a survivor. For me, it was completely out of character to get to a point where Kenny had a knife at her chest and she still didn't say "I'm shitting you guys, the baby's fine so let's all chill". It was suicide by Kenny and that in no way worked for the character on my opinion.
If she was banking on Clem killing Kenny, that was one hell of a gamble (and very unlikely depending on Clem's possible support of Kenmy, the choices on which didn't seem to factor into it) and would then go against what she said afterwards about just doing it to make a point. Either way, it doesn't work for the character.
I love Jane but that ending didn't work for me and it wasn't about her character as much as the writing.
I didn't see Jane as the type to hide a baby to set off Kenny.
Really? I thougth that part was very in character. She is willing to … moreshot off Troy´s dick and leave him to be eated alive, so that she hid AJ was no really all that surprising.
She showed almost no emotion for Luke after he died but showed it earlier.
She does show emotion for Luke after he dies. When Clem wakes up for the first time at the unfished house, Jane is nearly crying about Luke´s death.
. Mike became a total traitor. Stealing all the supplies, and running off with a guy who had just a short time earlier brought armed people to jump his group...
I agree. Fuck Mike.
She was banking of being capable of beating Kenny. Lets remember that Kenny his tired, weapon less, and has only one eye. She wanted Clem to kill Kenny only if worst came to worst.
and would then go against what she said afterwards about just doing it to make a point.
Yes. That´s the point. She is lying.
I love Jane but that ending didn't work for me and it wasn't about her character as much as the writing.

The writing was perfect.
Well, yes, its expressed rigth. I just simply dissagre with what you are saying. That Rest Stop scene was the second most powerful moment in the entery series for me, only behind Lee´s death.
Yes, but the whole mess started because Jane saw Kenny as danger.
What purpose did it serve her to go to her death?
If she told him AJ was alive then, Kenny could not have believed her and she knew that. She could have stopped the figth only if she ran to the car where AJ was and by then it was too late.
There are two perspectives to work from when evaluating Jane:
She's a complete and total villainous psycho who lies and manipulates like some sort of Loki/Dexter/Keyzer Soze hybrid
She's badly written.
...
Episode 3 Jane was completely different from Episode 4 and 5 Jane. Episode 3 Jane was a cold-blooded low-affect killer who could shoot dudes in the junk like it's no thing and then smirk while saying creepy lines like "act like you belong and you will belong", walking into a horde of dead while some guy's getting eaten alive.
After that Jane transforms into some sort of heart-of-gold loner who mopes every other line about her sister.
The sizable delay between 3 and 4 might be them rewriting her character to replace Luke's role in the Ice Cream/Pizza choice.
That makes no sense. Kenny was so attached to that kid, that's in the writing. All it would have taken to snap him out of it was to hear the kid was alive - even the possibility. At the very least, he would have paused giving Jane the chance to survive. That she didn't say it just doesn't work. It was suicide by Kenny.
Heh, she was the one with the knife at her chest.

I'm not saying that particular scene was like my describtion, I was referring to the overall tone between them. Every time you talk to one of them in ep5 they will be critizising each other. In the end I felt like it was a bit too forced, it would have made the choice more powerful for me if I knew I was choosing between two people who at least had, had one or two things in common.
Well, yes, its expressed rigth. I just simply dissagre with what you are saying. That Rest Stop scene was the second most powerful moment in the entery series for me, only behind Lee´s death.
Lol, nope. What it could take to snap it out of it is seeing the baby alive. Why do you think he could have believed a baby killer? Is obvious he could only think she was lying to save herself.

Even if you're right, not worth giving it a shot, no? If Kenny heard that AJ was alive and Jane was the one who knew where he was, he couldn't possibly take the chance and kill her.
Thing is, either you're right and Kenny would have killed her anyway (seems dumb of Jane not to even try and doesn't seem to fit with her personality) and that would mean that Kenny breaks character by putting his bloodlust over saving AJ which would be poor writing. Or I'm right and it was suicide by Kenny which is out of character for Jane and so poor writing. Neither scenario works.
Edit: Hmm.. just found myself browsing other threads and in one you talk about the chances Jane had to end the fight, including even being able to get to the car. So she was willing to go all the way to her own death even with the chance to get AJ himself. That is not Jane the survivor. That is writer against deadline.

If you compare that to the Kenny vs Jane fight,it is similar to that situation. Your character gets knocked out in a middle of a fight and you have to do something to stop them .
Just because Kenny & Jane are determinant characters doesn't mean they'll immediately die. Think about it yes determinant characters die a episode or 2 later but this is the 1st determinant character that dies from a human, not a walker. Yes in 400 Days there was a choice in Shel's chapter to kill the Random Guy & if you don't, later you find he told people and he lived but wasn't shown again.

I can´t believe what I have just read.
Damn, you got me.
Yep, I agree. That or simply, we have no way how to end this and people want multiple endings so WTF do we do? Oh I know!
But it was a childish fight. Just listen to Jane in the truck.
See, I knew it!
EDIT: By the way, what movie is that from?
And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kid!

I wasn't sure how to express it in English, hopefully it works well enough

You'll pay for this!
(I'm sorry, I don't know where it's from. I actually googled Satan gif to get that.)

Thread: What did the Kenny vs Jane fight remind you of
It's not about the "flame wars" going on in this website. It's about the REAL fight. The fight reminded me of this:

If you compare that to the Kenny vs Jane fight,it is similar to that situation. Your character gets knocked out in a middle of a fight and you have to do something to stop them .
What does the Kenny vs Jane fight remind you of?
It reminds me of the Lee vs Stranger fight at the end of Season One, especially when Lee is pinned and Clem has to shoot the stranger.
I'm one of the people who wasn't reminded of anything. It was that different for me.
I like this.
