TT will have to pick canon ending
Because most of us are playing this game on last gen consoles and we will probably get rid of them and get current gen consoles within the next year.
And unless TTG can somehow transfer our saved choices from xbox360/ps3 to ps4/xo i dont see how they would not just pick a ending and stick to it and kinda make season 3 a clean slate free from our choices.

Then people will complain:
"Our choices doesn't matter! BOO"
they did that since day one, they did that at the end of season 1, who cares.
This is different, because it is changing your choice to a different one, which Telltale never did before.
It's better to branch the story out, atleast to prove people wrong.
n00b writers.
They can either do what they've been doing which is to generate a set of choices or provide previous players with a basic set of choices during a short 'Previously on...' sequence. It wouldn't be nice losing our saves but there are ways around it without having to disregard our choices.
I'm telling you a new protagonist and story is the way to go. In my opinion anyways.
^ NO!!. I respect you're opinion, But mine is that this is Clem's story.
Why do people never consider them starting a completely new story in the TWD universe?
The most we'll get out of Clem's story in S3 is maybe a few mentions or scattered details.
They won't pick a canon ending because that would defeat the whole point of their games, and they won't make 5 different stories to start from because it'd be insane work. Clem's story is over, accept it.
That's what I'm saying.
Season 3 will still have Clem.
It ain't over till Telltale announces that Clem won't be in season 3. Until then I strongly believe she will be continued on. I don't want a new story with some person I couldn't give a toss about, I want Clem.
Why can't we believe that Season 3 will still have Clementine involved?
Making one ending out of five to be 'canon' would be a terrible decision. Not only it would mess up the narrative experience, it's basically catering to the minority who chose the same ending while shafting everyone else.
Unless Telltale plans to intertwine every ending somehow, or create yet another lazy timeskip, I don't see how Telltale can continue Clementine's story.
They have obviously already been working on season 3 and known about it for a while now.. They have plenty of time to continue from where the player left off in Season 3.
No telltale won't have to pick a cannon ending. IF they wanted to, they wouldn't have made three different endings, to us to pick,
And if you REALLY want them to pick a canon ending , Jane ending was the most picked, sorry mate.
Everything indicates otherwise. It's just not happening.
I've been here in Season 1 and I remember how people were in denial about Lee's death.
You'll get over Clem by the time next season is here.
From Interviews I have seen they seem pretty damn keen on continuing Clem.
They're just being vague mate, at this point , so soon after S2's finale, they can't confirm nor deny anything.
If you're talking about that Greg interview, it's pretty apparent how uncomfortable they were with the subject when Greg kept pushing it.
I have known Clem for twice the time though, so realistically It would take me twice the time to get over her and I will still be very angry at Telltale if they give me some generic shithead as a protagonist that holds no emotional value to me.
I can see it happening.
No canon ending
They seemed pretty open about it and dropped some hints in that Spoiler cast.
They can't confirm anything. That's not how game devs work.
If those guys disclosed anything so soon, they'd be in trouble.
TTG need to pick a canon ending because of tech issues unless you can transfer your save from xbox to playstaton or vice versa i dont see how they can keep going without a clean slate.
Well I hope they prove people wrong and create 5 different beginnings.
That's a lot to expect from Telltale.
I just don't have the faith, is all. I still remember how they told us 400 days would matter a lot in Season 2. Lol.
The Walking Dead game is Clem. There is no way season 3 won't have her in it. The easy way to fix it, which I would think they would have planned all along is............6 Months later. No matter which ending you picked you will see Clem on her own. (Maybe a short flash back of what happened depending on what ending you picked). They can go on very easily without having to do a clean slate.
It seem you underestimate Telltale's capacity at work, mate.
I can see where you are coming from, I admit I also have my doubts but hopefully they can improve off the criticism of season 2 and make an amazing third season.
we had the same discussion after season 1 and TT kept clem, we are too far invested into her for them to switch characters.
umm why do you think telltale are releasing both seasons on xbone and ps4? cause there is no way to transfer our saves so we have to play it again but you know what? fuck that cause i have it on pc
True, there's plenty of time. But it's all down to whether Telltale has the manpower, or more importantly, the motivation to ensure that all players can continue from where they left off since their chosen ending in Season 2.
It's just as Pride said, I can't expect Telltale to go through all that without a hitch, not after how badly 400 Days was incorporated in Season 2. I can expect them to go through a time skip to save them the time and effort, though.
The easiest way to deal with it would be to have a pre-play thing like we've already seen where you just select the choices that will impact the next season.
Then, if you don't want to make 5 different beginnings (or 3 really, with slight variations) then you time-skip and use brief conversations or even written text explaining how the character got to where the game starts from whatever ending the player was in before.
^That's the low budget way to do it anyway![:) :)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Example of what I mean when I say 3 with slight variations.
One where both Kenny and Clem are in Wellington. If you left with Kenny you both came back a few months later. If you went in and Kenny left then Kenny came back a few months later.
One where Clem is with Jane. Bad stuff happens with the family either while they are in Howe's, and the family betrays Clem/Jane OR the family attacks Clem/Jane for turning them away.
If Clem is alone no variation is needed.
^Not suggesting these as openings, however it took me about two min. to think of how to start with 3 endings instead of 5 while keeping the production cost low for the variations. Each ending would need to point to a common story arch fast if you're trying to save on production.
BioWare is making a system with Dragon Age where you can just fill out your entire personal canon and import it across any system you want. Don't see why Telltale couldn't do that too.
This. so many this.
All these petty problems could easily be solved if they'd just end Clementine's story.

No thank you to a canon ending.
