Hank was my favorite character in BrBa, actually. So let's linger here for a few seconds longer.

There is a lot of time when I find a new respect of Kenny. At first I think him a good guy. He feels guilty about Shawn's death. He saves your life no matter whether you defend Duck or not. He agrees to bring more people to the motel and have them treated by Kat while they are starving. And I don't like the idea of staying for death. So I always sided with him. But then after I chose to save Larry (I just cannot kill someone without even trying to lend a hand with a lady begging me), he disappoints me so much. He refuses to help Lee, from the barn to the drugstore. That hurts me so much. It shocks me to see him killing Larry, but I try to understand him. He has to be alive to save his family. But he never ever tries to understand me. I really, really want to tell him that not siding with him doesn't mean I won't save him with my life. If it is him whose heart stopped beating I would also try to save him. That causes me even to hate Lee when he shows a "I don't dare to do things like killing Larry" face to Kenny. Then after my Lee saved Ben, he refused to help find Clem. At that time I really really want to tell him to go fuck himself. But still I raised the family point, for Clem.

But in S1E5, I can feel him trying to change (especially if you do not drop Ben). He lost what he had tried so hard - even not afraid of being a selfish murderer - to protect. He still raised the Larry problem, but he threw the statue to the wall and tell Lee that he wouldn't hurt him. He tried to see from Ben's view. He encouraged the group to keep moving on on the attic. And to get all the dialogue I get a play through of going to find Clem with only Kenny. When he said he was so glad that he didn't let Lee go alone (especially after finding the bite), I also feel so glad that I chose to let him go with Lee. After he lost in the herd, I thought that he went back to his family. I felt so sad, but also glad for his changes. There was a Chinese saying that if you have learnt the real meaning of life in the morning, you've lived a worthy life even if you are going to die in the evening ( sorry for the poor translating...). Before S2E2 when I heard that perhaps he was coming back, I looked forward to that so much.

After his coming back, I felt so happy (however still I think the Kenny-Clem relationship should not be so close at first. After all I am not Clem). When it comes to his losing temper towards Sarita and the sitting problem, I didn't feel bad. I didn't count on him to changing totally to an easygoing one. But the argument with the cabin group gets me bad feeling. I still remember the time he helped Lee to get two strangers into the motel.

In E3 he surprised me a lot. When my Clem told him that she didn't like his plan of "punching the 1st son of a bitch grab his gun blah blah..." (if I got an option I would beat him down so that he wouldn't get himself killed), he said IT IS OK. I can even imagine a "fuck you Lee I can do it without you" there. When it comes to choosing from "walkie talkie" and "attracting the herd", he can raise the point of combining the two together instead of denying the other plan. We even won't get a "Kenny will remember that" if we agree to leave him behind. I thought perhaps we won't need to face the siding problem any more. However the way he killed Carver bothers me. I even want to grab Luke's gun and shoot Carver in the head with one bullet ( that is what and all he deserves) if the one who would have to do that is not a 11-year-old little girl, so that Kenny won't do such a horrible and terrible thing.

In E4, he really pissed me off. The way he broke down after losing whom he cares. The way he treated Clem (who he should have treasured). The way he cares about whether Clem sides with him. That "dear" old Kenny came back. I even started to think what would happen if Clem got bitten, sarcastically.

In E5 he starts to be nice again to Clem, and decides to make protecting the baby his life goal. But that doesn't make me feel better about him. He just finds a new family, a new "boat". He doesn't do better than he did in the end of S1, when he tried to think about how to live with losing all he cared for, when he did start to change. He's still wandering in the darkness came from E3, with a flashlight named AJ & Clem, and doesn't really know or care how to find the sun. We can see that from how he treats the others, Arvo included.

At the end of S2 I got a lot of feeling for that poor old guy. In my 1st playthrough I shot him. That's not a Jane/Kenny question for me. It's a whether to stop murder by killing the one attempting to kill another question. And when I saw Kenny lying on the cold ground, saying his last words, I cried. I got a feeling totally opposite to the one I got in the first time when I thought he was dead. Then I felt sad but glad, even a little "proud" that Kenny "died" as someone different from the guy who cares no one but his family or those who sides with him all the time. But now, "Jesus...what has become of you, Kenny?" is what I thought while crying for his fate. My Clem is always what I want her to be. She didn't be come of some stranger for me. But Kenny... the lights once shines at the end of S1 just fade away. He just went all the way deeper into the darkness.

In my 3rd play-through I choose to let Kenny live, with the cost of Jane's life. (I let Jane die and then kill Kenny in my 2nd play-through because it means to be an asshole one.) I must admit that with the companion since S1, nostalgia and sympathy for him, I feel not so bad as when I let Kenny die. I still remember that Jane is lying frozen on the snow ground, but when I hear Kenny laughing, I feel comforted. His death in my 1st play-through hurts me so bad. But when it comes to whether to stay in Wellington, I didn't hesitate to let Clem stay. That's not only for Clem and baby Alvie, but also for Kenny, because the whole S2 breaks my hope of really changing him in the good way. He sacrifices himself to leave Clem and AJ in the community. But that is what the Kenny not having changed in the end of S1 can do. Clem and AJ is those he cares for, not a shitbird like Ben, or a lady who he just met for a few days. He can run straight towards Andy with a rifle aiming at himself for Duck, so there is no way he cannot do the same for Clem and AJ. So at that time, I think the best end for Kenny, is fulfilling his wish to have Clem & AJ live a safe life. If it ends up with Kenny failing to protect Clem & AJ, or dying while still being concerned about their safety, it will be worse. And I cannot see any chance that he can get along well with a random group.

After the whole season I rethink about him. I found that the Kenny who cannot stop feeling guilty for Shawn's death, the Kenny who saved Lee in E1 whatever he did, the Kenny who brought Ben and his friend to the motel, perhaps had already gone after he killed Larry. Soon after that he led the group to steal. A week after that he can use a girl to save his time, and leave Lee struggling under the door with several walkers on it. The Kenny who "just, just past so many people who may need help" (Kat's words in S1E1) starts to get him over. That's very dangerous, actually. Kat starts to feel that and worries about it. I wonder what would become of his family if Duck's getting bitten hadn't suddenly breaks in.

However, what nearly breaks him down actually gives him a chance to change. After his last dream of the boat breaks, along with the impact from Lee and even Ben, he is forced to think in another way. That could have been his chance. And he did change a little. But S2 tells us it is just a little, and that little change dies after the shit Carver did to him and Sarita's death. And never comes back.

This told me that he has an urge to get revenge, as, for all we know, he could have killed Vernon in the timeskip of seeing him in again. Please no flame war defending Kenny, but hes unstable at times. And I will admit, I wanted to watch him beat up Carver. So bad, but I couldnt do it. My Clementine shouldnt have to see that after having to kill Lee in my playthrough

  • I can see why they made him Russian. Imagine if they had shown Kenny wailing on a Hispanic or Asian or Middle Eastern kid while shouting "You wetback piece of shit" "You fucking gook" or "You terrorist piece of shit."

  • The moment that defines Kenny for me is S1 Ep. 2 . When you are given the choices to Kill Larry or try to save him. I initially chose to save Larry because i wanted to stay neutral friendly to all the character in the group. Though I later found out that a Sudden Cardiac Arrest can not be treated only by CPR. You would need to shock the heart with a defibrillator to correct the irregular heartbeat. Finding out that if Kenny had not did what he did well Larry would have gotten back up but not the way I wanted. :( Also Has any one repeated the train scene with Ducks Death. I found out if you keep silent the whole time Katjaa and Kenny talk. You get a opportunity to reach out and touch Kenny shoulders. It then say Kenny learns that you are compassionate. If you don't have this event i notice that he continues to be a jerk with all the choices you differ on. Another defining moment for me was S2 E5 When Kenny is consoling Clementine saying that she had made the right decision. The way he acted in his death was admirable and heartbreaking. So I like Kenny dissapointed that i picked that ending though it felt like how i imagine clementine to deal with the situation. #Bring LEE back alive

  • "Go on and wait outside" menacingly hold crowbar This told me that he has an urge to get revenge,

Kenny had a urge to get revenge for getting a beating and losing a eye. Oh, Kenny, you horrible person, you! You should have just given Carver a lollipop or something!

as, for all we know, he could have killed Vernon in the timeskip of seeing him in again.

No. The others said they lost Brie and Vernon because of the boat, not because that guy with the mustache killed him. So, Kenny didn´t not kill Vernon.

  • Kenny: Hon, give me a second i need to talk to lee a second.... There is gonna be fallout.

Lee: For killing Lilly's dad? Yeah, i would imagine so.

    Kenny: What do you think?

    Lee: . . . (silence option)

Kenny: Fine, then Fine. I saved duck on the farm and didn't save Shawn. Now i kill someone before it can put your little girl in danger, now i'm even more of a monster.

Kenny: I don't care. You do what you have to do, im-a going to keep doing what needs to be done.

  • "Just take the kids!"

  • Some people are above such sadistic forms of pay back. I would have killed Carver too but Kenny took it too far.

  • Sadistic? Carver was dead by the second hit. Also, is not really going to far, considering that Carver did the same thing to him, only much worse because Kenny was alive and concious during his beating.

  • Carver was dead on the second swing not like he was alive feeling that. Unlike Carver who beat Alvin almost to death and then would have just rinsed and repeated

  • In episode 103 after Kenny and Lee get the supplies. He argues with Lily and says "You know how we got the supplies? Your friend and I just allowed some girl to die so we'd have enough time to get them." He tried to get Lily to hate Lee. That was definitely off putting.

...Sorry for the double post(?), but for extra consideration - imagine if the shootout scene had Middle Easterners instead of Russians. That would've been really touchy for Telltale to have pulled off.

  • The moment my outlook on Kenny changed was when he applied the salt lick to Larry's noggin. Sure, I hated Larry and knew it had to be done, but something about that moment just triggered warning bells.

Later, as Kenny spiraled, I tried to keep on his good side only because playing as Lee, I felt we could understand each other if only on a fatherly level. As Lee, I hoped that if anything happened to me, Kenny would look after Clem.

However, playing as Clem, that changed. As happy as I was to see Kenny (something familiar) I knew that relationship didn't exist. I could be more objective. Doing so I found him a liability (especially when dealing with others).

  • How do you know how Vernon died? If he died 'because of the boat', how do we not know Vernon and Kenny crossed paths? Do you work at Telltale?

  • No, but the odds of him having met up with Vernon during the timeskip, let alone killing him in a way that the rest of the cancer group would specifically NOT mention Kenny when they talk about Vernon's death are pretty slim. So much so that I'd say it's near impossible. All the evidence, what little there is, points to him not having anything to do with Vernon's death.

  • The way Kenny defends his family just got my respect because im the same person in that way. And with Carver.. i think in Kenny's situation i do the same, because i got the same urge for revenge especially at moments like that. Carver gone too far, So kenny goes too far too. Fair enough.

  • "Hey, it was a tough choice, but you took care of the kids. That's what a real man does."

Except if a girl is kidnapped and you don't like her guardian, I guess.

jesus... this is beautiful, the Wellington ending goes all the way back to S1E2. Why is Kenny so perfect?

  • When he left Lee behind at the store.
When he killed Larry just as we revived him.
When he ran away as one of the St. John's were trying to kill Lee.
When he refused to come save Clem despite the fact that Lee looked out for his family.
When he beat a bound person...just because he could.
When he tried kill someone for making a mistake.

All of these examples display my fundamental thoughts on Kenny: he's selfish, violent and will betray you at his convenience.

  • You probably defend Kenny's action of killing someone for a mistake.

The Carver is strong in you...

    Echopapa posted: »

  • I never had that conversation, but the moment that defined him for me was when he refused to help me search for Clementine, he said "If it was me, would you be there for me? Because there's been plenty of times when you haven't."
Which is bullshit because I helped his family every single time, I disagreed with him a lot but I was always there when he needed me, considering this wasn't the first he'd let me down I was pretty fucking pissed and I think he's an asshole because of it.

  • For me there are two.

The first is when he kills Carver. It's not so much the act itself but the attitude that goes with it. Kenny has arguably taken more abuse (physical and emotional) than anyone in the game and it's all let out here. Although it is a dark moment and shows what Kenny is capable of, it is a truthful moment. He never tries to pretend that he's shining star. He knows what he is and it is in that room with Carver that he welcomes his darkest desires, carrying them out without any hesitation. He embraces the fact that he is a violent creature because he knows that deep down everyone else is the same, regardless of whether they wish to hide it or not.

The second one is at the end of Season 3 outside Wellington (if he lives of course). It's in that discussion that you realise that he will do anything to make sure that Clementine is safe. And even before hand with Alvin Jr., he just wants to make sure there is a glimmer of hope in the future. He doesn't want Clementine to leave, but he knows it's her best shot at surviving and finding some form of happiness. We see his core emotions and the fact that deep down he will never stop caring.

  • People said the odds of him returning were very slim. All I am saying is you don't know how the timeskip was and what even happened.
