Call me slow, but I came across something pretty big...

What I'm about to say might have already been said, but here goes:
I think I know what happened to Christa's baby, and it's not good...

In episode 5, towards the end, just before the Kenny/Jane fight, when Clem and Kenny discover that AJ is "dead", Clem says this rather cryptic remark:
"No, not again... not again..." with her eyes closed and her face facing downwards, in obvious pain/ sadness.

What I think this means is that Clem went through a similar situation. With the blatant parties involved being Clem/ Christa/ Christa's baby and maybe a few unknowns (X), Christa's baby likely died due to a walker related incident. What do you think?

  • Show us, Telltale. Give us Christa DLC.

  • That's what I thought when I first saw the scene.

  • haha, yeah... to be honest though I never really paid any attention to that detail due to the fact that things were heating up. SOmehow I would never notice that bit... derp

  • How can she be talking about Kenny?

  • Please answer! What if someone else doesn't deliver!?!

  • I don't follow. How would Clementine know what happened to Christa or her baby?

Edit: how the fudge to you make that flipping post image thingie work?

  • She was possibly referring to Kenny losing yet another loved one.

  • Clem was with her during most of her pregnancy. And we can see that at the start of S2, proper, (where Clem and Christa are in the woods lighting the fire), Christa doesn't have a) the baby b) already has a flat stomach thus meaning that Clem was with her during the birth and, later on, loss of the child.

  • Well, first of all, the OP is just talking about the baby, not Chirsta´s fate.

Second, Clem was with her during the 16 moths time skip, so obviously she knows how Chirsta loss the baby.

    You're late to the party.

But right. Probably. I have the same theory.

  • I remember Gavin tweeting about 'confirmation on Christa's baby' or something before ep 5 was released, so you are probably right.

  • Well sorry about that. I wasn't active on the forums between episode 5's release date and end of September (wanted to avoid spoilers.)

  • I know that. I thought the OP was implying that Christa and the baby died to the bandits or something similar.

I did not notice that she was not pregnant in the later scene (I'd have to view the scene again).

  • Cool:) That's a major discovery, if true. It's pretty neat that we can still discover new stuff in the game after 2 months or so.

  • I also meant walker related as in maybe Christa did something bad because of walkers. BUt thanks for the comment Viva :-)

I think it could easily be applied to a non-walker related situation. Just the baby dying in general. My guess is the baby was born then died of a cause(s) like malnutrition or weather. Walker is just as likely though.

In Amid The Ruins, when AJ born, and everybody thinks he is dead, Clem says: '' No, not again. '', so... it's not that what you thinking.

  • I don't think so. Telltale forgot that for sure.

  • That's what I thought immediately after I heard her say that. I also thought about this when she holds the baby and Jane tells her "It looks like you've already done it before" and just seeing how Clem can so easily take care of the baby and make him stop crying shows that she saw someone do it before. Now what I don't understand is why she doesn't have any clue of what happens when a woman is about to give birth (in amid the ruins), it's possible that Christa didn't let Clem be around her when she gave birth.

  • edited October 2014

well, maybe the baby did pass on during birth. Main thing is that we have an answer to what happened to the baby. ---> It passed away.

Thus ending the vast quantity of fan speculation when episode 1 was released.

  • I thought it was pretty obvious what happened to Christa & her baby in Episode 1. I think its funny that people need to be told how things happen exactly, they hate the unknown.

Yeah, I remember there was a theory she was either talking about Christa's baby or Kenny. I thought the latter.

  • There is another bit of information that was revealed during episode 4: Clementine doesn't know the actual birth process. Clementine can determinately ask if Rebecca's water breaking is supposed to happen. I also think there was a bit of optional dialog at one point where it is implied by Clem's speech that she doesn't know how to birth a baby. My theory is that Christa went into labor and birthed the baby somehow with little to no assistance from Clementine. The baby was alive for a good amount of time. This would explain why Clem looked so "natural" or "experienced" when hold and caring for AJ. I wouldn't be surprised if Clem's line to Jane about how holding a baby isn't rocket science is the same exact words Christa told Clem when Christa's baby was alive. Considering that the time skip was 16 months or 1.25 years, it can also be assumed that Christa's baby died in during the winter. We can hypothesize that the scene of Clem getting separated from Jane and AJ and Jane emerging from the snow without the baby is almost exactly what happened to Clem, Christa, and their baby. My other theory is that Clem doesn't know how Christa's baby died, just that Christa showed up without the baby after the two got separated in a snowstorm. this would make the scene of Jane showing up without AJ and Clem's line of "No, not again... not again..." more impactful. Well... that's my two cents.

  • I couldn't care less about Christa :/
