Characters that you have a bias towards (positive or negative)

So as you all know, most people will gain biases towards certain characters, it could be a positive one where they like the character and would follow them anywhere, or it could be negative where you hate them and would issue death threats.

My personal biases are for my top three characters (Ben, Nick, and Arvo) because I really liked them.

So, do you have a bias? If you do, who is it towards, and why do you believe you grew this bias?

  • Kenny and Jane. both negative, for obvious reasons.

  • Yeah, episode 5 did a number on both of them. People seem to be polarized on them, outright hate them both, or like them both.

jane i like her but i have some bias negative feelinga towards her now that some of her fans talk shit about people then blame the kenny fans

same goes with some kenny fans talking shit then blaming the nice jane fans who actually want to discuss things instead of creating bait threads

    Negative:
    *Carver

    *Troy

    *Arvo

    *Jane... Kinda.

    Positive:
    *Clemmy!!!

    *Lee

    *Bonnie... I love Bonnie.

    *Lilly

    *Kenny... Kinda.

The list goes on and on and on...

  • Luke and Jane. I found their personalities the most agreeable.

  • Luke, Jane and Kenny. All positive.

    Obviously Clem.

  • I try to stay as independent as much as I can and try to avoid being biased, but if I had to say:
    Positive: Clem (clearly)
Negative: Arvo (sorry, I know you may not like this, but after he attacked our group when I didn't steal from him, that was it and tried to get him killed from that point).

  • Positive: Raccoon

    Negative: Bandit #3

  • Kenny (in a positive way) I mean ever since reuniting with him in S2, it's like reuniting with a family member or a long lost friend. Plus he's the only member from S1 and someone we actually know. Since reuniting with Kenny, I've basically sided with him on all his decisions plus Kenny and Lee are best buds in my game.

  • Episode 4 was actually the one that made me despise Kenny :P

    Positive:

    • Clementine: the heart and soul of the series. I'd love for Telltale to remember that it is the novelty of seeing a little girl's coming of age in a zombie apocalypse that makes TWD unique, not the story of another morally-questionable adult man.

    • Sarah: Kindly, underrated, and as far as I'm concerned the most likable character in Season 2. Her creators' utter resentment of her only strengthens my appreciation of what she represents - kindness in an unkind world.

    • Christa: Competent, beautiful, and forgotten.

    • Carley: The most shocking death in Season 1

    • Ben: Stupid at times, I can relate to his insecurity, and immediately regretted how harsh I was once I realized he had a death-wish.

    • Arvo: An abused, trod-upon boy whose suffering is unsettlingly 'justified' by his violence towards Clem. It may have worked on most folks, but it hasn't changed my sympathy towards him, partly because there actually is no consequence to him shooting a little girl.

    • Nick: A sensitive boy at heart, his harsh temper and depression result from the stress of keeping up in a world where masculinity is defined as 'toughness'. He was definitely more interesting than Kenny 2.0.

    • Kenny (Season 1): A likable man whose ugly personality traits were tempered by his loyalty and his forgiveness of Ben

    Negative:

    • Troy: Despite my 'love-thread' for him, this guy doesn't even have the redeeming value of being scary. He's just a violent thug, and deserved to be treated as such.

    • Carver: A monster with no humanity left in him. An entertaining villain, and one who kept the first three episodes feeling cohesive. He shouldn't have been replaced by Kenny.

    • Jane: an 'edgier' regurgitation of Molly the sole survivor, I honestly don't understand why Telltale loved her so much so that she ended up making it to the finale. I don't have any sympathy for her "woe is me, having basic human empathy is sooo hard" shtick.

    • Kenny 2.0: A writer's pet, whose screen-time neglects other characters, forces people to see him as a misunderstood tragic hero, and entire existence ends up tarnishing the good memory I have of him circa Season 1.

    • Sarita: A plot device whose only personality trait is "Kenny's nice, foreign, doomed love interest". The real problem is that Telltale themselves defined her just as Kenny's girlfriend, which was a lazy waste of an interesting sub-plot.

    • Carlos: I never forgave him for shirking his doctoral responsibility in order to let a little girl die, and you never get to call him out for being an overprotective dad. I do wish the rivalry between him and Carver was expanded more - contrary to Episode 2, I had the sense that Carlos was actually the leader of the group.

  • How could you hate Bandit #3? Couldn't you feel his emotion and pain? He definitely had one of the best stories this series has seen.

Jane, Arvo, Mike, Bonnie and Lilly. I absolutely despise them.

I have a positive bias towards Luke, Nick, Molly, and Omid.

    I can't stand Jane.

  • I have bias against Kenny and Jane both being negative. I care about them, but they are rather irritating.

  • Kenny, Molly, Luke, Sarah, Pete and obviously Lee and Clementine have my positive bias. Though I don't hate anyone.

  • Positive: Clem, Lee, Luke, Kenny, Omid

    Negative: Arvo, Carver, Vernon, Michelle

  • Positive;

    1. Lee - for obvious reasons. In the most amazing "hero" scene ever, he marches through death itself while dying and he doesn't give a damn because Clementine needs him.
    2. Clem (Season 1) - for obvious reasons. Sweet and innocent while clearly clever and aware of her surroundings. Hopeful.
    3. Luke - Clementine's (Season 2) Clementine - Comepletely loyal and a great thinker.
    4. Sarah, Ben, Nick - Three very real characters. Sarah suffers from anxiety. Ben screws up. Nick suffers from depression. They are all characters who suffer from real life problems and I connect with each of them.
    5. Lilly - She looked out for the entirety of the group, not just her immediate family. She was genuinely concerned for Clementine's safety.
    6. Kenny (Season 1) - Great resolution of character arc in Season 1. Saving Ben/Christa is his final act of redemption. That's how I remember Kenny.

    Negative:

    1. Larry - I get where he's coming from but he's just a jerk. I tried to be so nice to him and he still thinks I'm against him or something. That being said, I did try to save him.
    2. Carver - Psycho.
    3. Nate - Just creepy.
    4. Kenny (Season 2) - Tragedy of Kenny V.2.0. Introducing...an all new version of Season 1 Kenny where we follow him as he loses everything again.
    5. Sarita - What a waste. Plot fodder.

Michelle is one character that interested me that I don't talk enough about...I've already discussed my attachment to Arvo to death at this point, but the most intriguing thing about Michelle is that it seemed so obvious that she was just a scared kid trying to be tough because she thought it was the only way to make it out in the world. I hate that she killed Omid but her reaction afterwards shows that she probably has never killed anyone before. I find her kinda sad and interesting at the same time. She reminds me of someone I knew when I was younger, that probably has something to do with it.

  • I liked him. Nothing he ever did was malicious. And Clementine liked him. "I like Ben. He's my friend. We don't leave friends behind. Thats my vote" Even after he left her that time.

Who could honestly like Ben? xD Ben was the worst thing to ever happen to the group. He wasn't meant to live in a Zombie Apocalypse.

  • I really think they did a disservice to the Arvo character. What was really the point of spending the episode watching Kenny beat him just so that he can shoot Clem for seemingly no reason and have that retroactively justify Kenny's abuse? It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

  • In season 1: Clementine the moral compass of the season. I would side with her on pretty much everything, luckily she always wanted to do the right thing and it would work out quite nicely. It did make it awkward to play as her in season 2 since that moral compass is now gone and she makes the decision whether it be good or bad.

In season 2: I would do everything I could to not get along with Carver and Troy for obvious reasons (they bad people).

I love Carver, he wasn't a bad guy really in my opinion. He was a really smart guy, that would go ape shit crazy if he lost his temper. Sound Familiar? At some point in our lives we meet someone like this, he is generally a decent guy, but when he loses his shit, Watch out. That is what made him such a brilliant character to me, is because i could see other sides of him, that i think a lot of players just don't want to look or dismiss any similarities they may share with him.

Ben, the pathetic kid. He reminded me of my kid brother, How could you be mean to this kid. I always felt bad for him and Kenny reminds me of my best friend. A complete pain in the ass to deal with, sometimes.
    Alt text

Nate, I love this guy because he reminds me of myself. After coming back to the states, I just don't care anymore, its how you make it through bad stuff, you just turn them feelings off. When you go through a lot of shit, and you seen a lot of bad things, its hard to take the world seriously, or pretty much anyone anymore.

They did so bad with Arvo, I wanted him to actually be a character we could interact with and learn more about, but instead they thought he'd be used better as a plot device to make Kenny look bad (And then, have the audience hate him by shooting Clem, and that somehow justifies Kenny's excessive abusive of him. I don't even know what they were trying to prove about Arvo or Kenny at that point to be honest.) just like Sarita was only another person for Kenny to lose and become unstable over.

Everything just felt like a mess to me, idk.
