Sure, "Expert Atheists"...First off it's scientists who made the conclusion and not Atheists, also no it isn't, don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Also theories are flawed but change to receive new data, Evolution as it is isn't "Almost certainly wrong", it just isn't completely correct.
The theory of evolution (survival of the fittest) is in the process of being debunked. Even expert Atheists are reaching the conclusion tha… moret evolution as it stand is almost certainly wrong. They don't admit God is involved but the current theory is very flawed.
You missed the point entirely. Darwin’s dilemma: "There is a still deeper darkness awaiting the man who discovers that even his own thoughts cannot be trusted, that reason itself is an illusion. For what is the human brain? It is a clump of matter, a chance conglomeration of molecules. And what is human thought? It is a by-product of that chance conglomeration of molecules. But, obviously, chance-produced thoughts are meaningless thoughts". What he means is how can you trust in evolution, or any of his theories when the very human mind can be flawed in the way it's created? This is why Atheism rips itself down. As an Atheist you are forced to admit that your non belief in God is called into question by your flawed brain.
Atheism doesn't "invalidate itself" If the monkey was smart and if the plane worked then yes I'd fly it. The processes that led to now ar… moree mindless, yes, but "not" unguided. We're pretty good at being alive here in this tiny little pocket of the universe because many "many" things that were before us "weren't" so good at being alive here. Fascinating things happen when you have things reproducing over and over again over long periods of time.
It's the rational rejection of stories about a magical super being in the sky, talking snakes, unicorns, dragons, and other such nonsense.
Your God has always been and always will be a "God of the Gaps." It's a way to pretend you understand how the universe works without any work. Since humans "like" to know how things work it's appealing to latch on to stories like Santa Clause, and God; both of which there is equal evidence for.
I dont need to prove anything here, you're the one making positive claim about something. Its impossible to disprove negative, thus the reason burden of proof is on positive claim.
Apple, Cardiac surgeon's who have done thousands of heart surgeries are a little more reliable than your average Joe.
Paladin, the hallucinations you speak of are only hallucinations when they aren't validated by outside observers ie: If you are floating out of your body, that can be a hallucination. If you are floating outside your body and observe me talking on the phone to my mom and I was in fact talking to the phone with my mom it isn't a hallucination.
thus the reason burden of proof is on positive claim.
But you are still not able to prove that it does not exist. The day we have observable evidence that proves heaven does not exist is the day it will be considered fact.
I dont need to prove anything here, you're the one making positive claim about something. Its impossible to disprove negative, thus the reason burden of proof is on positive claim.
I'm sorry but you aren't facing reality as it is. Just like I posted above. There are atheists out there who are incredibly kind, helpful people. They are polite, and care about other people's feelings. The fact that they don't believe in an after life increases their love of life and the feeling it's short, and want to make the most of it. You aren't facing reality as it is. You are facing reality as YOU see it, and that isn't real. That's just how you feel, an opinion. Not a fact.
I live in middle of nowhere and barely see anyone. Im not used to being nice for no reason, its just not who i am. Im only nice to certain people and that list is small.
No. Not false but you make statements claiming that they are fact. That they are logic when they aren't. Don't claim something as factual, or logical when they are nothing more than person beliefs. I believe in God, I believe in creation. But I except that I could be wrong. You don't apparently feel that way. You believe you are stating fact when you aren't.
Oh I have. And to quote another brilliant man: "Claiming the universe came from nothingness only shows that even brilliant men can say nonsense". If I told you 0 + 0 = 1 you would laugh and call me an idiot. That's exactly what these people want you to believe. Stephen Hawking talks about quantum fluctuations being responsible for creating the universe from nothing. Only problem is that if quantum fluctuations are happening than there is not nothing, there is something going on.
"Nothingness" leads to everything, that much i know. Im not even going to claim to know everything about this subject, but there are plenty … moreof brilliant minds who know about this and you should listen to them instead.
krauss
I have seen few of his videos on same subject from few years ago, but not this newest one, but im sure its the same as before. He does like to make fun out of religions so try to not get offended. If you ever have a free hour or so, check it out.

I'm sure he is going to bring darwin's dilemma into this conversation as well. For some odd reason he thinks the lack of undeniable proof is cause for calling the theory "debunked" and "almost certainly wrong." The misnomer here is funny. It doesn't mean the theory is incorrect, it means it needs revised. Like spell checking an essay. Also, these "atheists" (scientists. Interesting how he doesn't classify them as scientists. Is he implying all people who accept science are atheists? Seems like a poor stance to take) are coming to the conclusion that the dilemma, the explosion of life circa enter Era who's name escapes me here, was only 4 to 5 times as quick as it is more presently. Not that major of a difference and probably explainable with enough time and GASP Rational thought.

The argument that the rational thought of the mind is inconsequential due to it being chanced evolutionary changes that have led to its creation is remarkably... trivial. It reminds me of the solipsism argument in that both are remarkably uninteresting and pointless marks. It remains that what we see can be proven via our own thoughts and the recorded thoughts of others around us. This proves to any reasonable person that solipsism is a misguided fallacy but this doesn't dissuade believes from the idea for it can't be proven untrue. The evidence supported theory that chance has led to our minds gives no bearing on chance giving our thoughts falsity. Why can we trust that out thoughts aren't shattered remnants of evolutions chances? Well.. why can we trust that our thoughts aren't protruding from a brain floating in a clear glass jar? The answer is common sense and ration thinking.

All knowledge we currently have shows that human mind of produced by brains and once they dont stop functioning, you cease to exist. =/= Heaven and hell do not exist.
Nothing has changed? All knowledge we currently have shows that human mind of produced by brains and once they dont stop functioning, you cease to exist. =/= Heaven and hell do not exist.

Very nice.
Meh... Just read the reply above yours. Cant be asked to write the same again.
Or you could just give me an actual specific reply to… more what I had said.
It is
No it isn't. Not at all. Seriously, you're trying way too hard here. Like I said above, its nothing more than a freaking condolence. Its not like they are slapping you across the face with a bible and forcing you to share their beliefs. They're just offering comfort. If you don't want to put any stock in that comfort, then fine, but please actually try and recognize these people's intentions instead of 100% missing the point.
I think the difference between you and me is that i wouldnt lie to someone to make them feel better.
We don't know the actual answer to whether there is or isn't an afterlife, so lying about it is an impossibility. There is no harm done in comforting someone.
He cherry picks what he finds most relevant aka what he can twist to support his stance. Which doesn't actually prove the validity of his stance, but prove he doesn't know how to conduct himself in a debate.
I'm sure he is going to bring darwin's dilemma into this conversation as well. For some odd reason he thinks the lack of undeniable proof is cause for calling the theory "debunked" and "almost certainly wrong."
I know too many people like this, it bothers me and makes me think our school systems aren't teaching right or that people are too developed in the past they won't give the future a chance.
It doesn't mean the theory is incorrect, it means it needs revised.
Just like I said!
these "atheists" (scientists. Interesting how he doesn't classify them as scientists. Is he implying all people who accept science are atheists? Seems like a poor stance to take)
He might not of wanted to say that but she sure implied it, again what disappoints me about our system of learning and science in the world.
Not that major of a difference and probably explainable with enough time and GASP Rational thought.
You'd be surprised how many people don't use that. :P

What in the living fuck are you talking about. You are saying that the doctors saw this ghost go to a phone and talk to his mom....and she was talking to him....WHAT?!
That isn't what these doctors say, they are all the patients or the doctors are high! You're probably talking about that one movie where the kid said he went to Heaven during a surgery. I hope you realize that the doctor said he was high and it happens a lot if they are dead or alive. If you aren't talking about that then I want to know what crazy people you're talking to.

Well, finally here is some voice of reason. We don't need Gods to say what is moral and it bugs me when people say you do. We are all Humans and we are all the same (Not in opinions :P) and this has turned into a Opinion based religious argument.
I need to bump that Religion thread in Telltale talk back up again.
Athiesm and thiesm are true, but none of them are right. Nobody has to have a God to judge what is right and wrong, the important thing is t… morehat everybody needs to know what is right and what is wrong. So, yeah, the topic in this thread is about "Real Life Choices", not opinions. Thank you.
I'm only talking about the beliefs by themselves.. not any sort of organization (I don't know anything about any Christian organization somehow empowering Kony anyway).
Yeah, but thank God L'il Susy learned about witchcraft in time! Now she won't end up with all those teenagers in Hell!
I wonder, though, if Jack knows about the underlying, original purpose of the pagan-based Christmas holiday? He better get to saving all the children's soul's from the devilish-Christmas trees.

To see him be put to rest? I don't see why you'd have to be so negative about it and say he doesn't exist anymore. Although true, you can't just forget about him and pretend like he never did.
If all the pain didn't mean anything, what would be the point of going on.
Its all about faith. Either you believe in something bigger th… morean you or you don't.
I have seen some things i can't explain in life, that no one has the answers for.
There is more to life than what you see.
He's just not making up random things to explain things that don't have an immediate explanation.
Neither is he. Why does it have to be 'making up random things'? Why do people label religions like that? He has faith, so what? Let him be, let him believe in what he wants to believe in. I don't see how it affects your life and the way you live. He hasn't even insulted any part of that guys beliefs/non-beliefs. He explained himself by using is faith.
Can you get over the fact that some people like light in their darkness?
His eyes aren't shut. He's just not making up random things to explain things that don't have an immediate explanation. Sometimes the most… more rational thing to do is to admit that you don't know how something happened or happens. Taking that stance leaves room for inquiry. Just making up woo nonsense to explain something doesn't lead you any closer to the truth.

I don't think anyone is necessarily saying that they know how these feelings happen... just that they do happen. We don't specifically know what personal occurrences George is talking about here, but they could potentially be enough to warrant a specific belief of some kind. One can take a certain stance on a subject and still leave it open for inquiry. Just because we don't know how something happened doesn't mean we should abstain from forming an opinion.
From my own experience with things like this, I feel like I have enough of a reason to personally find strong potentiality in an afterlife, or at least some spiritual aspect of our being.

Christians like that aren't Christians, in my opinion. God said "Love thy neighbor", and I don't think he stated any specific neighbor. You don't need to worry about people like that, they aren't the majority of Christians like people are trying to portray them as.
Eh... Only on the Internet, the majority of people are still religious and let's face it one of the main reasons why this sort of behaviour … moreis so prevalent among atheists is because religious people do the exact same thing in real life.
The Christians I know treated me like dirt when they asked me if I believed in God and said no, even blaming me for my grandmother going to hell just because I didn't believe in God, despite the fact that I expressed no opinions about it and was being extremely respectful because, well it's the right thing to do.
In any case I'm saying that both sides are jerks and the reason why it doesn't stop is because both sides keep being jerks, in any case I wouldn't argue with these people they are simply venting their frustrations and are downright unreasonable, same as Christians and other religious groups who refuse to just accept and respect each others beliefs, I'm not saying that all religious people are li… [view original content]
