We should go relax on our chill corner then, ignoring all the jerks.
Sadly I can't do that though, I gravitate a lot towards being a mediator and trying to calm things down, sometimes I mean, not all of the time.
Sorry that you find it rude. If a child goes too long without giving up on the idea of Santa... say into early adolescence, is it rude to l… moreet him know that it's just pretend?
There's no good reason to suspect that such a fantastic claim is true, unfortunately
I'd "love" for there to be a heaven, but there's simply no reason to suspect that there is one. The reason it's important to understand this is that believing that there is one, when there isn't, downplays the impact and importance of death.
There is no point to expect such thing as afterlife to exist, simply because once your brains stop functioning, you cease to exist. After yo… moreu die, its just the same shit as before you existed, nothingness.
And personally, i wouldnt want such thing as afterlife to even exist. Once i die, i want to stop existing.
You should.
From all the conversations I've had with you, and all the conversations I've seen you in, it seems more and more obvious that… more all you do is strive to make yourself seem smart. But you being of completely average intelligence your arguments usually fall apart quickly. You then blame it on others not understanding and the like when the truth is it's you who is lost. Once you've lost your points you quickly degenerate into name calling, passive-aggressiveness, etc. It's pretty sad actually. So when you see a topic you think you can manage keeping yourself aloft in you pounce at the chance. Which brings us to the aforementioned occurrence, because when it comes down to it you had little reason to tell the other person their loved one was gone unless you were trying to prove a point. If they are atheist as you then their mindset would be the same. Otherwise you're just trying to be a right arse and/or trying to make yourself look intelligent via a simple topic.
A magical land in the sky, spirits, ghosts, and all that nonsense are fantastical claims and there isn't any good reason to believe any of it.
No good reason?
Religion.
Faith.
Light in the darkness.
They're all something that makes a shit ton of people get up in the morning. If atheism is the way some people go, then that's fine. But If people that are assholes, and so happen to be atheist, want to belittle people's beliefs, then they better have a good explanation and better bring some good points and arguments to the table, or else they're just shit talkers who want to seem smart and superior. Example; zykelator.
Zykelator doesn't "need" to prove that. It's the simplest explanation for how things work.

What in the living fuck are you talking about. You are saying that the doctors saw this ghost go to a phone and talk to his mom....and she w… moreas talking to him....WHAT?!
That isn't what these doctors say, they are all the patients or the doctors are high! You're probably talking about that one movie where the kid said he went to Heaven during a surgery. I hope you realize that the doctor said he was high and it happens a lot if they are dead or alive. If you aren't talking about that then I want to know what crazy people you're talking to.
Would you not be offended if i told you that your loved ones will exist for eternity?
How in the world is that offensive?
Let's look at the words here, because you seem to act ignorant when it comes to things like this.
Loved ones, exist for eternity.
I don't see how those words up there are even offensive, let alone by themselves. You're literally trying so hard to make it seem like you have a valid argument, when you don't. Countless people have proved you wrong, yet your mind is still set in stone. Like Belan said, it's about the intention.
Again, you're 100% missing the point behind telling someone that their lost loved one could be in heaven. It isn't about forcing religion on… more someone, it isn't about forcing spiritual beliefs upon someone. It's about comforting the individual. It's seriously that simple. No one is making the grieving individual put stock in the theory of an afterlife. They should simply be happy that someone is offering support and concern for their own well being. That is entirely the point behind it all.
I just explained how it isnt a comforting thing to say... Would you not be offended if i told you that your loved ones will exist for eternity? Or do you not think that existing for eternity isnt a curse, but rather a gift?
No, we don't. Unless you're actually prepared to give a good, logical argument for this, please don't say such baseless things.
"Nothing indicates that you exist after your brains stop functioning" Is this not good enough argument for you?
I dont need to prove anything here, you're the one making positive claim about something. Its impossible to disprove negative, thus the reason burden of proof is on positive claim.
My house man, never know when a Coyote or neighbors dog might come charging. It can be dangerous when you live in the country where a group of angry Muslim men want to cut your head off for being Ex Military.
What I've gathered from the arguments I've had with zykelator in the past is that he is a very pessimistic individual who wants to make the people he comes in contact with ( people with different viewpoints than him) as cynical and down-spirited as he is. He also seems to actively seek out comments that he disagrees with, and provoke the user who made that comment to the point of frustration and/or anger. I may be wrong, but that's just what I've experienced and witnessed from the guy.

Another moment in high school in my senior year, there was this class I used to go to that only had 5 students. Including myself. One of the guys was Stacy, and it was odd to me during that year that it was actually his name. He wasn't exactly the "best" student in class. In fact, he got on my nerves pretty well. Whenever he did, I thought about insulting him by saying "Well, at least my name isn't a girl's name!". It was like I was faced with
[Make fun of his name] or [Maintain self control]
I always thought about saying that to him, and yet, I never did. I probably would've gotten into a nasty fight if I had. (Not trying to say anything offensive about names or anything here. I'm just telling another one of the hard choices I made before.)
Sure, I know plenty of chill Christians, so you don't have to explain it to me, it's just a bit dumb that both sides are playing victims, in any case sure let's just sit back and relax.

Yeah, faith isn't a good thing when it's misplaced. We know that the "holy books" for each religion were made up by people too. Those holy books are chock full of Harry Potter style magic and mystical creatures.
I'd really like it if Hogwarts was real, but no amount of faith will make it real.
there's simply no reason to suspect that there is one
It's called faith. Also , your santa example is pretty ridiculous. We know that santa was made up by people.
Santa "could" be a religion if he was marketed correctly. The main idea is that they are both make believe. Both were imagined out of thin air and pushed as ideas to keep people in line. Most adults don't need a magical man in the sky watching their every move to be a good person, at least I don't think they do.
You are saying that the doctors saw this ghost go to a phone and talk to his mom....and she was talking to him....WHAT?!
What? No. He was giving an example.
It is to "me" and I hate it when I'm grieving and somebody tries to undermine my loss with that nonsense.
They are like "Don't worry! You'll get to see him again eventually!" and I want to just shout at them.
"Fuck you! No I'm not! He's gone for fucking ever. That's why I'm sad." I absolutely hate how religion tries to undermine the importance of death and loss. It's a lot easier to send somebody to war, for example, if you think that if/when they die they will go to heaven, when in reality they are losing everything they will ever have.
I get that, but it's still rude as hell. It's undermining that person's personal loss.
"Don't worry, you haven't 'really' lost that person forever."
It's completely rude. It takes a lot for me to not blow up on somebody when somebody close to me has died and somebody says something like that to me. So far I haven't blown up on somebody in person, but that's because I understand what they are "trying" to do.
I don't hate him. His mind works alright, for the most part. He's just lacking tact and doesn't care about a lot of things that normal people care about. I did have him on mental mute for a while with some of the Jane posts though
Evolution is a fact just like gravity is. Theory of evolution is simply explaining how evolution works and that is the only thing which you can debate about not being 100% correct.
You missed the point entirely. Darwin’s dilemma: "There is a still deeper darkness awaiting the man who discovers that even his own thought… mores cannot be trusted, that reason itself is an illusion. For what is the human brain? It is a clump of matter, a chance conglomeration of molecules. And what is human thought? It is a by-product of that chance conglomeration of molecules. But, obviously, chance-produced thoughts are meaningless thoughts". What he means is how can you trust in evolution, or any of his theories when the very human mind can be flawed in the way it's created? This is why Atheism rips itself down. As an Atheist you are forced to admit that your non belief in God is called into question by your flawed brain.

I'm a Christian that keeps my beliefs to myself.
So, can I join you?
It's called faith. Also , your santa example is pretty ridiculous. We know that santa was made up by people.
... Kony2012 was a hoax.
I can sense the Jane in your post.
It's not worth getting riled up about , trust me.

"Sorry bro, but there are no good reasons to believe in what you believe because I say so. Those are just stories because I say so."
Santa is a re-made version of St. Nicholas for advertising Christmas decorations. Santa isn't a religion.
What? No. He was giving an example.
Plot twist: Santa isn't a religion.
Actually , I never believed in santa. Therefore I didn't have to face the harsh truth.

I really hope you don't view all people who believe in God/Jesus like this.
But you tried to, making illogical arguments in the process.
Fucking irony, dude.
Run.
Trying to pick an avatar that I'll successfully keep for a while.
Ugh, female things.

You're a little late on that, whoops.
You're not wrong.
You're totally correct. Take my upvote.
Hahahha
Take my upvote for someone taking your upvote.
Just a friendly tip.

I agree.
And thank you.
Whether or not to remove my father from life support
Calm down it was a joke.

That must really suck, mind if I ask what you chose?
A completely made up example me thinks
Because you say so isn't a good enough reason to believe that these magical tall tails are true
