What? That doesn't make any sense. How does that show GTA being inferiror?
GTA 5 was a masterpiece, that is why the multiplayer is still popular, unlike TLOU. TLOUis easily over in like 6 hours. There were like maybe five stages at best. The ending was pretty much a F.U, we did everything for nothing and there was literally no point in continuing.
Ehh, dude... Sit in a gun store. Literally, sit in a gun store in GTA and aim at the door. Shoot every cop that moves through that door. The… more police will keep sending them again and again, and do not even think to fall back. Eventually you have a retarded pile of bodies.
Now try doing that in TLoU.
Mhm.
Yeah, but it's good enough that I find myself completely immersed in the experience. In most games human AI is programmed to basically run at you and act as cannon fodder while you mow them down. It's good quality taking all this into account. At the end of the day there's very few games in which AI is actually realistic.
You can do that in TLOU. Hold a choke point like that and the AI will not stop coming in. The reason it's harder to notice is because there are usually too many entrances, not because of superior AI.

Every time I've done that the AI's held back and taken cover, or flanked if possible. GTA's AI in general is just retarded, not that that's a bad thing. It suits the feel of the game. it isn't really serious.
I don't mind all this for example. Don't think it detracts from the experience, but it's there.

I understand you probably are having buyers remorse, Its not that bad of a game, i mean sure the game had a storyline a 5th grader could of seen, at least in TWDG actually had some moments where i said. "Well i didn't think that would happen."
Carley's death, Ben falling to his death, or whatever. TLOU, you know both main characters Joel/Ellie will "survive" so the story is pretty much pointless if your going to write a happy ending in a ZA.
The melee weapon enemies do admittedly charge stupidly quite often, but the firearm opponents have always hung back for me. At any rate, the AI's definitely not bad.
I agree with you on GTA. My issue is that George seems to think my statement was outrageous, when it really wasn't. :P
You're not a traitor, you just like one game more. Although they both take place in an apocalypse, they are very different, so I wouldn't be surprised if the opinions vary. I still don't know which one i like more.
What's with the hostility? Holy shit, dude. You've now changed the topic entirely. Story's all subjective and I do think TWDG's plot is bett… moreer.
If we're playing the game of 'make stupid assumptions' then I'll say you're envious because you don't own a PS3, and have never played it.

Yeah, well, that's cool. We all have shitty days. I just thought all the silly assumptions and condescending attitude was unnecessary but then again I do the same thing when I'm in a bad mood. We both have our opinions and that's great, but I honestly do think TLoU objectively has better AI than GTA's.
Not that GTA is even remotely bad or that poor AI detracts from it! Decent AI isn't really needed in the game, and it's fucking amazing without it. I never thought to compare it with The Last of Us because its strengths lay heavily in completely different aspects.
It's a fantastic, unbelievably fun game and its the next thing I intend on purchasing for my PS3.

As I hinted at in the beginning of this thread the one thing that keeps me from really getting engrossed in TLOU and putting it at the same level as TWDG is I'm not sure the TLOU universe is really going to ever go anywhere. In TWD we have novels and the comics to go along with the games and that really helps to get into the universe (even though they are separate stories the fact that they take place in the same universe really helps make the TWD look that much larger).
In TLOU we simply have one game and who knows rather there will even be a second one. They are in the middle of putting together a movie now (which I think is a huge mistake as very seldom do movies based off of video games ever do very well) instead of creating TLOU 2. If there ever is a TLOU sequel it probably won't come out for about five more years. And even if there is a sequel I feel like they dropped all their marbles into the first game and made it a little too finite in order to expand on it that much. Maybe that is why they havn't jumped right into making a second game.
ehh its not the best but it is cool. the shit that bothers me is the fucking fact that you cant hide the fucking bodies. really its a stealth game, sort of,\
In my opinion TLOU is over-hyped to death. Its no where near as good games like GTA 5, but people still sing its praises. The combat is c… morelunky button spam, the AI is brain dead. I don't remember struggling through this game once.
Is it a bad game no. Its good, to me the ending felt sequel bait. Personally i wouldn't of bought a console for this, I would give it a 7/10.
Yep both are amazing games. I love them all. I don't get why people get madthought lol like calm the fuck down hipster. people just like to bitch a lot if some things get too much praise. Bothgames to me a master pieces, again I count both seasons as onefuck yall if y'all don't like it, and are awesome. Right now I have tlous fever cause I just played it recently but wd is better
I gave both games an A+, and titled them the best games I've played for their respective years. Your opinion is your opinion, and anyone who… more gets butthurt over you liking this game more than TWD should get that stick out of their ass pronto. I don't think you're a traitor.
Although I do have to say, I like The Walking Dead a bit more.
I was just thinking about creating an Ellie and Clementine comparison thread. The two games (now three with season 2 out) are very similar i… moren how they tell their stories and develop their characters. Gameplay is obviously much different though as Last of Us is more of a shooter while TWD is a point and click game where you get to occasionally choose how characters will respond.
If we just compare storyline elements (as that is the only thing that can be compared) I think Last of Us has slightly better character development but TWD has an overall better plot. Ellie in my opinion has the best character development of any character ever created for a video game and her relationship with Joel is very heartwarming. However the plot of TLOU still fell into the very generic 'save the world' story that many video games have. While TWDG was a very comforting plot of characters just trying to survive in an apocalyptic world.
Also TWDG does a much… [view original content]
As to the, well kind of, point you made you're right, the last of us universe kinda gets a small hit cuz we hardly know shit about it, where in the walking dead we have all those other sources. And that to me kinda annoyed me that they didn't explained more of the very interesting fungus outbreak. I mean I thought that fucking WDgame had a long time skip then tlou came lol. 20 YEARS.

You traitorous ***, joke, both games are awesome and i guess yeah in some way TLOU is a better as a game since you actually play the game, and no you're not a traitor, is not like you signed a contract to link your soul to TWD XD
man if you sold your xbox and if you game collection really was huge you should have at least bought a ps4 just seems silly to buy a ps3 xD
anyway imo the last of us is very overrated but it is better than nearly all of the games that came out in 2013 but people praise it like it is the messiah of gaming its just so overrated
They are both awesome games but they both have a thing of becoming to easy on the second playthrough
TLOU/TWD>GTA5
I get the comparisations , a grown man protecting a girl in a broken world but that is where the comparisations stop because further they don't have that much in common when looking at the game(s)
I played them both, but it really depends which one you play first, If you played TWDG season two and then The Last Of Us after of course TLOU will have a bigger impact as that was the last one you played, But I guarantee if it was the other way around TWDG season two would still be on top. All things considered It has now been a while since I have finished both games and sometimes you gotta let it die down before you judge them.
And I gotta say The Walking Dead Game Season One and Two still come out on top Nothing tops Lee and Clem.
I mean lets face it, The Last Of Us drew inspiration off Lee and Clem and in an interview they even admitted this. But its still a great story.
In The Last Of Us its a compelling but set story. In The Walking Dead I made Clem and Lee what I wanted them to be and really chose the future and outcomes. From the get go I already had this instant connection with Clem whereas in TLOU I had to wait a bit for the connection to form.

It is True, Development doesn't necessarily mean that they had the plot fully planned out then, In an interview Neil Druckmann clearly states they drew inspiration of The Walking Dead Game.

Not true, TLOU was in development since 2009 while TWDG was around during 2011 at the earliest.
Nope. I've seen Hazzer around these parts all the way back to when Amid The Ruins was released and discussed A LOT on the forums. He just talked about TWD, not TLOU. He just recently got this game and wanted to share his thoughts. He just wants to talk about the games, what they liked and didn't. Is it comparable? Maybe. But before you spout nonsense and make accusations, make sure you have solid evidence he is a troll. He has the right to share his experience with us and I'm cool with that. Keep your snobby accusations to yourself.

Sorry? I thought we were talking about AI and combat... ._.
To be honest, I don't feel these games can be compared. Zombies are where their similarities stop, really.
If I had to choose; TLOU is more fun, but I enjoy TWD more overall because of the story, choices, characters and the fact that I'm a fanboy.

Huh, odd. The AI often just runs at me. No doubt GTA AI sucks, although GTA with great and challenging AI wouldn't work as well.
WiiU doesn't even try.
XD

ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?!
SECRET OF THE MAGIC CRYSTAL IS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE, YOU FILTHY HERETIC! YOU CAN GROOM PONIES IN IT.
ET HAS SHIT AI AND SECRET OF THE MAGIC CRYSTAL IS FLAWLESS.
"What's with the hostility? "
I'm sorry, i don't mean to come off hostile. I just had a really shitty day today. I apologize if i came off that way.

Did you consider on just getting the PS4 version, its superior in almost every way.
We're talking GTA, right? I'm gonna wait for the PC release so I can get mods. Nabbing a second-hand PS3 copy in the meantime.

It didn't have a generic 'save the world' type ending at least.
