It's funny because naughty dog fans aren't so narrow minded so she can probably post that she likes twd on their forums if it's a constructive thread like this one.
It is True, Development doesn't necessarily mean that they had the plot fully planned out then, In an interview Neil Druckmann clearly states they drew inspiration of The Walking Dead Game.
While the plot of the game is very generic in regards to them finally finding a cure then needing to obtain it it is also a very different situation due to the ending in my opinion. The entire time you're rushing to the world saving ending only to be met with a dreadful realization.
I absolutely love Ellie's development and her character as a whole as well. Her voice actor did such a fantastic job of bringing her character to a new level of realism.
As for them not leaving room for a sequel or continuation. Is that a bad thing? S1 of twd left a lot of room for their sequel but in all actuality it wasn't needed. Just like with twd their game left you in a place of unnerved tranquility. Where you knew there was more, but it wasn't exactly necessary to see it for yourself. Every good story needs a stopping point.
I was just thinking about creating an Ellie and Clementine comparison thread. The two games (now three with season 2 out) are very similar i… moren how they tell their stories and develop their characters. Gameplay is obviously much different though as Last of Us is more of a shooter while TWD is a point and click game where you get to occasionally choose how characters will respond.
If we just compare storyline elements (as that is the only thing that can be compared) I think Last of Us has slightly better character development but TWD has an overall better plot. Ellie in my opinion has the best character development of any character ever created for a video game and her relationship with Joel is very heartwarming. However the plot of TLOU still fell into the very generic 'save the world' story that many video games have. While TWDG was a very comforting plot of characters just trying to survive in an apocalyptic world.
Also TWDG does a much… [view original content]
They are both awesome games but they both have a thing of becoming to easy on the second playthrough
TLOU/TWD>GTA5
I get the compar… moreisations , a grown man protecting a girl in a broken world but that is where the comparisations stop because further they don't have that much in common when looking at the game(s)
In following ellie and joels story I can see them not making a second. Why would they? It ended in the perfect scenario (as could be expected from the universe). I wouldn't mind them making another story about the two, but as is often the case you run the risk of ruining the first story by making the second one. Cough TWD. But they don't need to follow their story to expand on the universe. We saw two quarantine zones, two small towns, and a handful of other sites. There is a vast world they can jump to. Where is the army getting their orders? Where are they getting their gear like the new car batteries? Are there govt scientists working on a cure like the fireflies? Just a small number of points taken from what the game gave us.
As I hinted at in the beginning of this thread the one thing that keeps me from really getting engrossed in TLOU and putting it at the same … morelevel as TWDG is I'm not sure the TLOU universe is really going to ever go anywhere. In TWD we have novels and the comics to go along with the games and that really helps to get into the universe (even though they are separate stories the fact that they take place in the same universe really helps make the TWD look that much larger).
In TLOU we simply have one game and who knows rather there will even be a second one. They are in the middle of putting together a movie now (which I think is a huge mistake as very seldom do movies based off of video games ever do very well) instead of creating TLOU 2. If there ever is a TLOU sequel it probably won't come out for about five more years. And even if there is a sequel I feel like they dropped all their marbles into the first game and made it a little too fin… [view original content]
It's not so often the gamer community gets such an astounding story game. Especially one that mixes the shooting genre, the cinematic scenes, and the deep heartfelt character-revolved-around story. I think it gets the rating it make for itself.
man if you sold your xbox and if you game collection really was huge you should have at least bought a ps4 just seems silly to buy a ps3 xD
… more
anyway imo the last of us is very overrated but it is better than nearly all of the games that came out in 2013 but people praise it like it is the messiah of gaming its just so overrated
Hehe, I wasn't too fussed about making a profit off of the games. I only asked for an additional £20. xD Probably stupid of me, but yeah. Bet I made someone's day.

The only inspirations I found were:
-BBC's Planet Earth
-No Country For Old Men
-True Grit
-The Road
-Earth Abides
… more -Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead (The comics, not the game. Not the same thing.)
-Children Of Men
-28 Days Later
-The Day of the Triffids
-I Am Legend
-City of Thieves
-Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
-The Stand
Not yet, partly because I'm taking it really slow but mainly because I'm absolute shit at it. xD I try to play like John Rambo on hard difficulty despite not having nearly enough ammo and facing overwhelming odds... Stealth's never an option for me, I don't know why but it just isn't. >.< Really, really loving it so far, though.
I think they admitted that they took plenty of inspirations from "The Road". Ending scenes are almost identical.
Btw, "The Road" is amazing, I recommend everyone to watch/read it.
How do people honestly find her annoying? She's a 14-year old girl who keeps things light despite the situation and I find that awesome. Her shitty puns are amusing and her feisty attitude is a laugh.
Yeah, it is a better game. TLOU is cliche, but yet a better game in question of esthetic ( gameplay, visuals, design ). I can't lie, TLOU is a very original game, and better than TWD. Of course, Naughty Dog are a AAA Company, Telltale no. I'm just not sure why you posted it here, are two completely different universes. You can post on Telltale Talk next time.
Yeah I was never very good at that games combat mechanics either. It has great mechanics, just not ones I can pull off. Has more realistic combat than your average shooter. Let me know when you beat it. Can't wait to see what you make of the end!

To be honest, I don't know why people think The Last Of Us' story was so great. I actually wanted Ellie to die in order to find a cure! But if we swapped Ellie with Clementine? I would never let her die. I think TLOU was great, but TTG's Walking Dead has a way better storyline.

I really like TLOU, too. But to be honest, TLOU is completely different than TWDG.
In TLOU, people don't die and come back to life. They can get bitten or breathe in the spores, and get infected but not die. Then there's the type of monsters like clickers, runners, etc.
So, no, you're not a traitor. You can like any game you damn well please.
Threads like this make me lose faith in TWDG's fandom sometimes. People seem to be paranoid because two games share similar themes and apparently there can only be one. There's enough space for both and you don't have to keep comparing them, especially here on the TTG forum where people are bound to be biased towards TWDG.
It's not very often gamers get such a story game. Especially one with realistic combat, character development on this level, interesting characters, great atmosphere, and such an intriguing (though cliché) story. I think it gets the perfect amount of rating for what it gives.
Also I said what I did because you said "the story is full of cliches." which, in context with the OP's title that is The Last of Us vs TWD, could be taken as support for TWD; only that one is clichéd and the other isn't doesn't make sense.
I love her attitude. Sure she curses, but that's not unexpected 20 years after the fall of civilization. She has a much more positive impression of the world even after it's completely shitty (which I think is directly linked to her being born into it already being fucked up. It would likely be different if she was introduced to normal life then had it ripped away). She is strong, courageous, outgoing, determined, yet still has attributes that mark her as a little girl. She is a near perfect creation of the young, flawed survivor.

Seriously though, it's like going to be the best smash yet, and smash is already hype as fuck. There's no way anything comes close to the Wii U after smash 4 hits.
Well, personally, i hated everyone in TLOU except for Joel's brother. I suppose the only thing i liked was the atmosphere, everything else in TLOU, i thought was very average.

But, In all seriousness, No your not a traitor, its good to play other games instead of just one. I used to only play Minecraft and Pokemon, now i like zelda, TWAU, TLOU, TWD, hell, i even played a lot of stealth games (Splinter Cell, Dishonored, Metal Gear, Etc.) Play what YOU wanna play, we wont judge you. It's good to get out of your comfort zone, Now about TLOU, it was an AMAZING game, I enjoyed Watching pewdiepie play it, as much i enjoyed playing it, My only concern is that ellie could have been a little LESS of an asshole, Hell, they might as well have given her an apple and said, "Here, Eat This so you'll look like even more of an asshole) But yeah, Its a Good Game.
well, i did think Tlou was a little better, but your not a traitor to telltale or us, No, your betraying clemycloo (not me) and she is already lonely without lee.

I did like The Last Of us alot more but the replay value on the singel player is very low, i'm still on chapter 3 on my survivor playtrough.
No, that is false the inspiration came from the novel "The Road"
No actually i meant TLOU

Hahaha?

I agree with you there.

I agree. She annoyed me throughout the entire game unlike Clementine, who was very likeable.

Probably won't upgrade to a PS4. Already spent enough money in order to play it. xD If it ever gets a PC release though, I'll probably buy it again.

I still need to finish reading the book version of The Road.

The ending is so fucking sad, I almost cried reading it.
I never played it, but it looks like a lot of fun. I would like to play it once.
Well, Telltale Talk gets far less traffic and this post ultimately relates to The Walking Dead. I want people to compare and discuss the two games. :P
Oke, you're a traitor... i don't know why, you still play games don't you?
Maybe if you like TLOU more and start about that on a Telltale forum then you could consider beeing a traitor to Telltale
I really like the last of us, 9/10. But I still prefer TWD because we can make choice.
Oh, ok ^^ ( Don't care for trolls, all random. )
Smash Wii U is enough for me to say it's better than all the current gen consoles.

Some people find her swearing annoying:

But I see it as a part of her character and it also relaxes the atmosphere a bit.

I was hoping that she was going to die the whole damn game. I have never gated a character from any game more than i hate Ellie
