I don't think they would add DLC for the Ice Climbers, they said that they removed them in the first place because the 3DS limitations were that it couldn't handle 8 players on the screen at once, and if they added the Ice Climbers again then they would have to make it a Wii U exclusive which they already said the roster would be the same between both versions. I think they're gone for good :P RIP
I have a PS3 version, and i have a PS4. I never got into the game on PS4 because they expected people to pay another 60 dollars for the same game. I know when they first started doing this, game companies would charge you 10 dollars for the upgrade ( I know for a fact AC:Black Flag was one ) but not the TLOU they want that full price for the exact game they released a year prior.
Currently at the part where you play as Ellie and things are progressively getting better and better. As far as I'm concerned the game is definitely deserving of its praise, especially if the quality stays consistent until the finale.
Nearly lost my shit when that time-skip to winter happened. Figured Joel had died. :S
Yeah I was never very good at that games combat mechanics either. It has great mechanics, just not ones I can pull off. Has more realistic combat than your average shooter. Let me know when you beat it. Can't wait to see what you make of the end!
You're just about at, or by this time already done with, one of my top 5 favorite parts of the game (Spoiler: David). The quality definitely persists until the end.
That time skip scared me. I figured there was hardly a way Joel could survive rebar to the abdomen, then it skipped to Ellie alone in the woods....
hell no. i get that this is the WD forum bu really be objective. now if you dont like it, you dont like it. byt cmon ppl dont like it cuz of the swearing?? really kids cuss far much worse, and say far much nasty thing than that. her attitude? her attitude is great, she always tries to lighten the mood so she wouldnt show how scared she is.
yes. can i ask you a question? which world would you like live? i mean universe? WD or TLOU?? you die you turn, turning into a walker depends on individual (the time), you got herds, BIG herds, and for some reason they seem to know where people are.
or TLOU: they can run, and theres different kinds and they are hard motherfuckers to kill, well clickers and bloaters. you die in 2 days when bitten, and you get spores.
now you can choke them and kill them. you can, it seems, that you can kill them to shots other than the head. where the walkers from WD they just keep coming. also you can really sneak past them, especially clickers also the common one but they can see. where walkers seem to SMELL you, hear your and see you. you can use noise too to distract them. the thing both universes have in common are that peole are still probably the dangerous.
I really like TLOU, too. But to be honest, TLOU is completely different than TWDG.
In TLOU, people don't die and come back to life. They … morecan get bitten or breathe in the spores, and get infected but not die. Then there's the type of monsters like clickers, runners, etc.
So, no, you're not a traitor. You can like any game you damn well please.
Completed the game about ten minutes ago, and holy shit, I fucking loved that final level. I was immersed in it to the point that I felt Joel's anger, and charged through the hospital brutally murdering the Fireflies without a second thought. Only after I mowed down the surgeons while one of them screamed "YOU FUCKING MONSTER!" did I realize what I'd done.
Really made me question what I'd actually do in that situation, and I liked the fact both Joel and Ellie survived... The Walking Dead conditioned me to believe that one of them would end up dead, but I was pleasantly surprised. Thought the open-ended nature of the ending was fine.

No doubt the Last of Us is a defining game of the generation. And, yes, the story is much better in terms of quality than both Walking Dead games.
Although I personally like Clementine more than Ellie, they're both a heir apart in terms of writing quality. And I liked Joel more than Lee in terms of character development. The gameplay is also astonishing.
Zombie's aren't that much of a threat than they are in TLOU, and I've always liked the gore and decay of walkers, rather than the infection and fungi of clickers and runners.

TWD for sure.

Until I walked into the surgery room I hadn't given the fireflies deaths a second thought. They were standing between me and Ellie, whom I needed to save. Then he held up that scalpel and told me how it was. It hit me that what I was doing wasn't good, it might not be bad, but it was wholly not good. I still had to kill him, and I didn't feel sorrowful doing it, but it made me think about why I did what I did. It obviously wasn't for the betterment of humanity. It may not have even been for Ellie, because deep down I'm sure she would have readily given her life for the cure. Then Joel lied to her on their way home and it hit me. It was for him. A completely selfish act, but one I agreed with nonetheless. The ending took "morally grey" to new heights and I loved it.

I love how the start of the final level to the ending is basically the beginning sequence reversed. Masterfully done. Starts off with Ellie unconscious and potentially dead which directly reflects Sarah's death scene, then she ends up being carried to safety, then she's being driven along in the car, and then she's happily living life with Joel.

Huh, I never put that together. That's amazing! Even now, months and months later, this game still holds surprises with how brilliantly created it is. That's why Naughtydog gets a gold star from me.

So stoked for the movie, I hope it's done well. Same goes for a second game if they plan on doing one. If so I'd like them to take their sweet time in order for it to do the original justice.

Yuck! I can't imagine them trying to recreate Joel and Ellie's characters and relationship on the big screen. But I enjoyed the game enough to at least give it a shot. I really hope they put even halfas much effort into the movie as they did the game
As for a second game... I have little doubt they will come out with a second game eventually. The question on my mind is if it will follow the pair we've grown to love or not. What's your position? Would you prefer a new group, or the old one?

I'd be happy either way but I think I'm leaning more towards a new location and new characters. In a way I believe continuing Joel and Ellie's story would downplay the first game's ending and result in a dead horse being beaten but a big part of me also wants to see what happens to the two of them.
I'm indifferent, really. :P Don't mind at all as long as Naughty Dog match the effort they put into the original.

Apparently a potential The Last of Us movie would have Maisie Williams (Arya Stark from Game of Thrones) as Ellie. This is kinda exciting and could potentially be great or a flop. Never seen Maisie in anything other than Game of Thrones which she is spectacular at and Arya holds some similarities to Ellie in some ways.
I do agree that it might be time to expand the The Last of Us universe. Perhaps from the point of view of the fireflies or Tommy and we see Joel in a smaller role?
Anyway it seems like a decent choice for Ellie imo. No one can recreate Ashley Johnson's voice performance as Ellie of course, but Maisie seems like a good choice
As for Joel, Gerard Butler seems like a favorite. He looks pretty close to Joel imo.

In regards to The Last of Us, and The Walking Dead, they're both great games.
Both have wonderfully written stories, in spite of the fact that the core of both stories are basically the same.
Both have wonderful voice acting.
Both have wonderful characters.
I can guarantee you though that if anybody thinks that there is any insecurity in this thread the level of insecurity would be about ten times worse if you tried to post a TWD vs Last of Us thread in a Last of Us forum. TWD has an entire universe full of comics, novels, and video games. Plus a tv show that takes place in an alternate universe and that same alternate universe is getting a second tv series to go along with it. While in the Last of Us section they basically have one game and who knows if there will ever even be a second game (my guess is if their movie bombs there will be no second game).
I posted in a Last of Us forum until that horrible dlc came out. Havn't bothered with that franchise much since then.

The story was basically exactly the same as what they released in the comic series earlier. It would have been good for people that didn't buy the comic but it was pretty cheap of them to make people pay for the comic and then basically tell the same exact story in the dlc. Hell they didn't even let you see Ellie's reaction to Riley turning and rather she shot her or left her or what.
The dlc was a complete ripoff. TWD on the other hand told a completely original story in their season 1 dlc.
The comics told a completely different story from what I've seen. Ellie's not even fourteen in them, which isn't the case with Left Behind. They didn't show Riley's death for a very clever, artistic reason. Naughty Dog didn't feel the need to show her brutally succumb to the Cordyceps Kirkman style because it'd ultimately be pointless. It's more poignant when left to the player's imagination.
Even if the comics and Left Behind were based on the exact same events, the DLC would still be completely worth it. Reading a comic is a very different experience to playing a cinematic, beautifully voice-acted and emotional piece of game content that let's us delve more into Ellie's character and history.
Hardly a rip-off. They provided what was advertised.

Well what I saw was them trying to sell the same exact idea twice and attempt to get away with it by saying this just happened at a later date then the comics did. If I am going to pay money for separate stories within a franchise at the very least I expect different storylines.

Seriously, if you're gonna criticise something at least do some research. The comics follow Ellie and Riley before the events of Left Behind. And again, even if they were the same storylines, it wouldn't matter... It'd be worth the money to see everything beautifully animated and voice-acted with more awesome gameplay as well.

Yes a comic where Ellie and Riley go to a mall and play arcades and ride horses is a completely different story from a video game where Ellie and Riley go to an abandoned mall ride horses and play arcades. But it is all ok because they say they happened at two separate times. Oh and yes we are going to charge money for both.
THEY ARE DIFFERENT. >.<

As part of both communities, I can safely say the TLOU community isn't insecure, I've seen people on TLOU forums and such talking about TWDG and none of them jump to take a shit all over the 'opposite' game like this community does. The most TWDG-related conversations there are 'Oh, you like TWDG? I do too' while here people are crucified for liking TLOU.

It's because it's a Playstation exclusive. I would love to play TLOU but my PS3 took a dump just before it released and I'm not getting a PS4 or XBone until they have been out for a year or two (PC is my primary).
PC Master Racers and XBox Fanboys will take a dump over TLOU in the same way some Ford fans will dump over anything Chevy; it's a transparent attempt to justify one's own purchase to make themselves feel better about dumping globs of money on an entertainment system. They want to feel like they made the "correct" choice and fanboyism is a result of their own insecurity regarding this matter.

To tell the truth I think The Last of Us has TWD beat in almost every department. Writing, Acting, Gameplay, Music, sound design. (I'm sure being a AAA game probably helps alot, but still)
Hardly ever see any flawed logic in TLOU. And never see any inconsistent or lazy characterization. That's 2 things TWD suffers quite frequently from (Season 2 mostly being the prime example).
If I were you I'd definitely watch one of the various 'Last of Us Movie' vids on YouTube if you can't play it. Some of them are done really well, with every story detail included. By the way if by knowing a character's gonna die you mean Riley, don't worry, it's not really a spoiler as the player already knows she's going to die right from the beginning of the DLC. :P

What makes you think it was horrible? It was brilliant.
THEY ARE DIFFERENT. >.<
That's not even the... -sigh-
Whatever, dude.
I'll just leave this here.
It's not a rip-off.

And fucking damnit, now I know that a particular character is going to die. Should have avoided this topic
