What happened to the town?

In episode 4, Kenny and Clementine notice a town beyond the tree-line.
Kenny is dead-set on having the group start out for it in the morning.
Regardless of when they start out, after the shootout, they head for this house the Ruskie tells them about.

My question, why not keep heading for the town?
They knew it was out there and had an idea where it was.
Why would they trust the word of a kid who had just earlier had tried to rob them, and kill them if need be?
Especially Kenny?

  • That bugged me too. Writing error I guess, they shouldn't have included the town in Episode 4 in the first place if they were just going to abandon it in Episode 5.

  • Yeah, I was curious about that too. I think that town was the same town that was shown on the No Going Back slide.

  • An original storyline died.

  • The plot forgot what it was doing.

  • RIP in pepperoni

  • arvo changed the route .... remember ???..... "food , shelter, follow me "

  • Writers forgot how to write.

  • I think the Russian ambush and Arvo changed their plans.

  • Writing error that could have easily been fixed with a few lines...

Kenny: "What about that town we were going to?"
Arvo: "No. No. Been to town. Empty. No people. No food."

(few more lines of general distrust, with everyone except Kenny and determinately Clementine trusting him since he obviously fears for his life, so they decide to head that way)

Boom. Done. Error resolved. You could argue that it's dumb to trust Arvo, and I wouldn't disagree, but at least it acknowledges the issue instead of the characters suddenly getting amnesia, and there's really no reason why he would tell such a lie in the first place, since going to a potentially populated area has to be safer than in a single group with a guy who wants to kill you.

  • It was lost in the void of plot-hole's and last minute touch-ups that would undoubtedly make up a vast percentage of the worst episode in the Walking Dead franchise (including 400 Days).

  • Wait, are you talking about Amid the Ruins or No Going Back?

  • No Going Back (from this shitty last episode).

People, Arvo changed their plans, and Clementine just mentioned it to Jane in EP4.

The group probably thought '' The House is close! '' until they search the place with fences... I noticed that too, they would have extended the episode a bit.

  • I don't know how type of person like more Amid The Ruins than No Going Back ( Gamespot maybe, but they are fuckers ;-; ), but like you said... okay, opinions.

  • I respect your opinion, but I find Amid the Ruins the worst and most poorly written episode in TWD and No Going Back is my second favorite (behind No Time Left).

  • Oh, I agree. Episode 4 was quite diabolical in it's writing. But I personally thought it, at least, was interesting in terms of the characters and the whole "is Sarah worth it" left me pondering more than once.
