Sarah might not been on the deck, she could have been prepping Rebecca, maybe they would all hide since Luke spotted them earlier and the deck wouldn't have collapsed at all.

I would be liable to change my answer to Nate if we're able to play as him or at least see more of him next season. 20 minutes of game play just isn't enough time to consider him my absolute favorite character unfortunately.
