Who was your Clementine?
So in Season 2 there was a lot of emphasis placed on determining who Clementine would become- would she maintain her innocence or would she become a more brutalised, ruthless survivor- and I'm curious to see who most people wanted Clementine to become. I know my opinion, now I want to hear those of everyone else.
Personally, my Clementine was the ruthless, survivor type- in fact, had the game given me more of a chance to side with Carver I probably would have. In the scene were Carver is questioning you in his office I decided to agree with him, and- in terms of survival- his logic DID make sense, even if it was still horrifying. I was glad to see him get his face mashed in, but what I think I liked about Carver was the way he didn't see Clementine as a child. The rest of the characters (Kenny, who is one of my favourites, included) still saw Clementine as a little girl, when she had become much, much more. Carver and Jane were the only two who seemed to understand that (but for reasons I won't bother boring you with I'm not a Jane fan). I didn't have any sympathy for Carver and gladly watched him die, but at the same time I think he influenced my decisions more than any character in the game. Everyone will probably hate me and wonder why the heck I would like Carver, but that's just my opinion.
So, who was your Clem?
Comments
Tried to remain innocent, and was 90% silent.
My Clementine?
Honestly;
True XD
That's my main complaint about Season 2: it builds up to this "who your Clementine be?" thing, then suddenly switches to Jane V Kenny and the season ends without her character being truly resolved. Unless the person you choose to go with determines who she becomes in Season 3.
Yeah, to be honest it felt like the only thing you get to decide about Clementine is where she physically ends up, not who she is. For S3, my favored route would be Clementine as deuteragonist to an adult, (Preferably Christa, if she's still alive) with her personality based off of the choices we made in S2.
My Clem was a Sass Master
Lee, reincarnated.
My Clem is a survivalist, still maintains her innocence and still sassy at certain point. Kinda cute.
As nice as possible I guess. Really, I have no idea, she really didn't develop much and kind of kept a monotone in her voice nearly 100% of the time.
My Clementine defended those who were in danger, she tried to be as nice as she could to everyone and she saved many peoples' lives.
She was kind and self-sacrificing, but had lost her patience with rude adults and had no sympathy for stupidly cruel people. She refused the last request of a man who most likely murdered Christa, took pleasure in seeing Carver's mutilation, and ultimately killed Kenny after his violence culminates in outright murder.
My Clem? Oh, she was the ultimate Sass Queen.
But honestly, I'm not sure. I played Clementine as to how I would react in each scenario, and my personality is a damn mess. I mean, I'm horrible at forgiving people, so for about 80% of the whole game, I was really rude/mean/sassy to Rebecca, Carver, and every other character who (once) treated me like shit. However, I didn't stay to watch Carver get his face mutilated. Didn't think he was worth my time.
So I'm not really sure what the end result is.
I replayed the game a bunch to figure out what the best things to do/say in S2 so I could have the perfect Clementine I want (not trying to objectify her, I know she's her own woman), but it wasn't really that different from my first time playin through. Calm, cool, and compassionate. My goal was to keep everyone alive and not give the bad guys what they want. Still a bit sore over her cursing, but I may have to get over it and no drinking/smoking.
My Clementine is more of a ruthless survivor, than a little girl who is still innocent. Like or not, the old world isn't going to come back, there is NO cure, and people are going to keep getting more and more ruthless as the days go by. My Clementine knows this, and has adjusted to it. My Lee taught her to keep that hair short, aim for the head, and survive at all costs. In Season One, My Clem knew we had to put Larry down or else we were risking him turning & killing all of us, My Clem knew we had to kill the St. John Brothers as they were major cannibalistic threats who knew where the Motor Inn was, and leaving them alive was far too risky, and she understood that. (In my first playthrough, I killed Danny, and spared a beaten, bruised and toothless Andy. But I regretted it, so in my second playthrough, I killed them both.)
My Clem understood we had to steal from the station wagon because we were starving, and we needed that food. In Season Two, I played her the same way I did with Lee. I watched Carver get his face caved in, I stole from Arvo, etc. Sometimes we have to do immoral things, and that doesn't mean we're bad people. This new world is a dirty place, and sometimes you just have to play dirty to survive.
My Clementine was just like my Lee; a "sensitive badass."
I forgot to mention, that my Clementine is selfless and caring. I saved Ben, and I saved Sarah. My Clementine is also nice, and forgiving in a way. I was always nice to everyone I could be, but sometimes, you just can't be nice to people. Some people don't deserve forgiveness, or sympathy.
I don't play games no more, I get shit done, and while I'm nice as much as I can, you fuck me over, you're going to wish you hadn't.
Simple as that.
My Clementine was tough and harsh at times- I totally agreed with Kenny about killing Arvo out right. I stood up to Carver and called him a murderer. Other than Carver's Draconian rules, being at Howe's was actually a pretty sweet gig. I wish Clem or someone else could've offered up Rebecca. Carver wanted Rebecca's baby. If Clem had the option I would have tried to make a deal with Carver and give him back Rebecca. My Clem really bonded with Jane, but in the end left with Kenny. Although, had it not been a life or death choice my Clem would've sided with Jane. I stayed to watch Kenny kill Carver and hacked and axed Sarita. I saved Sarah and shot Rebecca and saved Nick instead of Pete.
Was innocent as much as possible, none of that "still not bitten" bullshit.
Also, was silent most of the times the group was arguing.
Best type of Clementine
Just want to point out something: Kenny thought Jane had lost the baby and got mad and in his rage tried to kill her, whilst Jane planned it all out in her head. Kenny killing Jane is manslaughter, it's not pre planned and unintended. Jane was attempting murder.
I still want to play Season 3 as Clementine (for reasons I'll leave another forum to discuss), but I agree that not much was solved at the end of Season 3 (oddly enough, one of the reasons I'd want to continue as her).
I played my clem as i would play myself. She was kind, and sassy. Brutal when she needed to be but also understanding of others. She mistrusted reggie cause he was too happy for his situation to warrant, but was protective of sarah, because she needed a friend. She stood up to carver, and kenny too. Had sympathy for arvo, until he shot me. But there comes a point of no return, where she just says Enough. And then shes done with you.
Im talking to you Kenny.
Cold, calculated, collected, and calm.
My Clementine is always slightly distant toward others' kindness and has built a shell to keep herself from being hurt. She never wants to feel the same she did the day she saw her family dead and had to kill Lee. As a result, her actions are guided more by cold logic rather than tender emotions. At the same time, she feels a greater sense of responsibility to her morality at times (such as breaking the ice from underneath herself to free Luke or defending Kenny, Jane, and A.J. from getting robbed and deserted by Arvo, Mike, and Bonnie) even if she knows the actions she's following are illogical at the time.
She also has a dark side. She feels weak, emotionally unstable, or individuals that can pose a threat be left behind. Her actions, at times, can even be guided by slightly malicious and callous intent. Showing herself to be a bit more cruel and emotionally unhinged at times.
Overall, my Clementine is a complex character that hasn't yet set her own way and only abides by the rules she's put in place. Even if that means she can be more cruel to others sometimes.
Semantics. Kenny still lost my sympathy by Episode 5.
She was very caring and sympathetic for those she cared about, but very harsh and unforigiving if her trust was ever broken.
Who was my Clementine?
My Clem was sassy, badass, kind, and brave.
I took every opportunity to reference Lee aswell.
MyClem be like this girl
damnnn i cant imagine my clemmy will be like this xD
My Clementine is a survivor who prefers not to have to babysit adults who should have a clue that the world has changed. The strong do what they will and the weak suffer what they must (Thucydides quote I think) I try to keep that in mind when I play.
My Clementine tried to keep her humanity for Lee's sake, she wanted to stay true to who she was back in season 1.
Fuck yeah!
I won't let my Clem dress like that... But, learning that acrobatic Jon Woo shit will be Clementine's next lessons.
me too xD actually .. more badass reloaded
Kind, compassionate, can be playful, tries to be a peacemaker, optimistic, likes to try new tactics, likes an easy challenge(Let's take em'.), not afraid to stand up against the enemy and protect others, guilt-driven, brave, sometimes sassy, a thinker, and mini-badass zombie killer. Just don't get on her bad side.
My Clementine is... all over the place, tbh. She's practical yet her need to keep her humanity intact sometimes overrides her sense of practicality. And if they happen to go hand-in-hand, that's a bonus. B^)
She's forgiving, but doesn't take excessive bulltshit from people (you know specifically who I'm talking about). Takes initiative, while also wanting to take others' thoughts into consideration (when in a group). She's pretty understanding for the most part and can empathize with people easily, only to an extent as she can be brutal and do the whole 'tough love' thing I guess.
Overall, she's pretty complex.
Badass.
I pretty much made my Clementine like I made my Bigby Wolf, blunt, brutally, and callous to her foes, but caring and compassionate to her friends and family. I also developed her to be similar to Jason Brody from Far Cry 3 (expect less insane) as she slowly has to let go her childhood innocence and adjust to her new environment, and become someone totally different in the process. It really sad actually.
As a matter of fact, I might do a comparison threat between the two later.
