I actually really liked Episode 1 for being so vicious and unflinching (some would say 'voyeuristic') with its violence. Carlos' torture in… more Episode 2 came close, with him wheezing and screaming in agony while failing to reassure his daughter.
Kenny and Carver, on the other hand, are fucking robots who don't react at all to their beatings. Personally I wish the writers got over their macho obsession and had Carver begging and screaming in anguish, just like how Troy was humiliated by being mutilated and left to be eaten alive.
Same thing with Arvo. Poor kid gets his face smashed while wearing glasses, yet the frames don't even break and cut his face up?!
To me, some of the best moments in this game had no brutality to it at all. If TWD wanted more horrific scenes let them happen to another character for a change. Clem's been through enough shit so that she can empathize with whoever gets it and some more interesting choices can be made from it.
I agree the emotion is that special factor but come on we need to see the more horrific side to the ZA. People forget that there is a darker side to the world we live in

dude, everyone would be f**ked if there was a rape within the close group, cause it's either Clem or like Jane or something, most likely Cle… morem and no one wants to see that, or even see foreshadowing hints because of censorship-stuff. But, you never know.
My reply was to Clmentine-3oo: "dude, everyone would be f**ked if there was a rape within the close group, cause it's either Clem or like Jane or something, most likely Clem"
Well, obviously not, but again, we've seen a lot of brutality already and We already know that people are super screwed up. I'm not sure how watching, what, rapes, flayings? How would that improve the story?
I'm just saying there's not much option considering how we were left in season 2, I don't want to see Clem so broken. :<
Though I get there would be a lot more animosity in a real apocalypse, but we've had enough hard times with the idiocy of season 2 episode 4
They might as well start a new series with the darker events like rape and stuff. If you want to go into a drama of mental stability. I mean it sounds interesting to see the mind of a victim and choices they may make, but I feel like not for here, not TWDG in any way.
I don't really want it to just be a ton of violence. If there would be violence in season 3 I would not want it to just be for the shock factor, but rather make someone emotional by making you feel attached to the character or hate for a character when they see someone having harm brought to them. After a while the "shock factor" kills are less shock factor and more boring. I want to either feel glad they are getting the punishment they deserve or feel horrible that something like that happened to the character.

His glasses has plot armour. He needed the glasses to have the perfect aim to shoot down Clementine. Had Kenny actually broke his glasses, he wouldn't have been able to use the rifle.
Personally, I felt watching someone getting their face beaten in was brutal enough and I felt like it was done for just that reason. People seemed to enjoy that but I didn't. I think the game is brutal enough. If horrible things happen in the context of the story, then fine, but I don't want to see it just to make the game more exciting or whatever.

Gore, brutality, rape ect.... IMO these things are used in movies today in horror movies to make up for lack of creativity. The greats can make a movie, or game that instills fear with the right music, and imagery. They use things that cause your imagination to go into overdrive. You don't even need to see something to be afraid of it when a scene is done correctly. It's like getting home alone, and hearing the stairs creek and wondering if someone is there. You didn't need to see anything to actually feel fear. Imagine Clementine moving through an old abandoned house. The wind is blowing outside, thunder in the background, tree's scratching the windows... Searching the house not knowing what's around the corner. I would prefer that type of fear over just watching brutal, graphic scenes.
Thank you. This is exactly what I'm talking about. If Telltale made a recreation of Glenn's Death it would be fucking scary. We need moments like these. The sit down with The Stranger hit a point of being so unnerving and cold. Thats what we need but more graphic and darker

You made me think of the mansion from Resident Evil Remake when you said that. There's some creepy atmosphereic moments in that game. I like when games can do that when they can scare you just from the setting, rather than the amount of enemies coming at you. Silent Hill 2 & 3 were really good at that how they could make you feel scared just walking down the hall of a dark run down building and hearing something from far off or nothing at all but just your footsteps.
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
I think what I liked about those games too is how the [at least for those titles] the characters thoughts played into the description when inspecting objects, and sometimes had a way of making you uncomfortable. I remember in Silent Hill 2 you're in this morgue type room where you can see the legs of a body sticking out, and on checking it, the words come up 'is it my imagination or did that body just move?'
Looking at games like Resident Evil 5 & 6 and all the stuff they throw at the screen just isn't scary. Fear from those earlier games was from what you couldn't see. I could link gameplay clips all day, but the making of videos for the Slient Hills probably explain far better in terms what it is that can create a good horror game =D

ooh like iin the 4th Resident Evil (my favorite, played it a thousand times), they use the music as a cue for you to start expecting zombies so then you start getting worried when you heard it, or like one part when the zombies spunded like they where coming from behind you but they were farther ahead.

There weren't many moments that scared me in RE4, but bits did like with the dog, do you remember that? If you save the dog it comes back later to help you, but then after the boss fight when you're near the church you see a doggy standing there in the dark. My automatic response was to go running over to it thinking "aw my doggy's come to see me!" and then I realized a few seconds before it wasn't the nice doggy before i think its head split open and it tried to kill Leon XD

I don't see why the game needs it. It is not like the game is 'hiding' violence from it's players, it is already very brutal...but it just does't need it in my eyes for extra effect. If the game actually was soft where it felt like the lack of brutality was unrealistic, then sure. But nothing in the game has felt like it yet. i don't think they need over-the-top violence just for the sake of the 'apocalypse'. Since the only way YOU know how brutal the apocalypse is is from other sources of media...not from real life.
oh my god yes xD you are my favorite lol
Or like in the place before that area with the catapults that you have to shoot down and then crank up the old cannon, the Ganados there sounded like they were chanting in your ear lol
to me it sounded kind of like "Muzeeduzeedee, Muzeeduzeedee, ha ha" heh heh me and my siser would copy all their weird sounds

I want an emotionally investing experience with a plot that has a clear concise direction. Not some gore-fest torture porn, I want a narrative that focuses on the human-spirit. The good, the bad, and the ambiguous. But, most important, I want the violent segments to carry weight and have a meaning rather than be put there to "shock" people.
The Walking Dead is becoming more and more evident to be a world crafted around an unsubtle mentality. Characters in the show, game, and graphic novel are too damn easy to relate to. Either they're "good" or "bad." I want to see more Joel's and dare I say Jane's (although a little less sloppy in her case). Characters that aren't written to be identifiable but written to make you feel a sense of moral complications and you can't write good characters if the game is consistently ramming violence down your throat in an unsuccessful attempt to make the narrative more "edgy."
Play Manhunt or Postal 2 if you want brutality.

It was there but it was only mentioned or referred to. We never saw it happen or knew the details
Honestly, Kenny reacted about the same as I'd expect for someone getting clobbered in the face: a series of disoriented grunts, coughs and gurgles
I love Ubisoft.
More zombie attacks could make for some good brutality.

knew the deatils? i'm worried about you man
Clem: Me too
I guess so. Still doesn't excuse Arvo's hardiness or the implication that Kenny isn't even strong enough to break his glasses. :P
Maybe Arvo found the world's largest supply of superglue

What else could they do? Id rather they didn't turn this series into torture porn.
Clem?? Fuck no!
Who said Clementine had to be a part of it? No one
You're taking it out of context. I never said we would have to watch a snuff film
My reply was to Clmentine-3oo: "dude, everyone would be f**ked if there was a rape within the close group, cause it's either Clem or like Jane or something, most likely Clem"

Very well said, indeed.
People on this forum just keep getting more and more rude
yeah, i agree. Well said.
forgot to add that i totally read your comment in Lee's voice

But its the TWD. The show and comics show a grim side of reality that is meant to frighten those who are still use to the cozy life
