How can anyone forget Ben Paul? He was always screwing up! As much as a disliked Ben for being partially responsible for half of my group's deaths/depature, I saved him from the bell tower in Crawford and I tried to save him from the Savannah alley.

I always remember Ben because he always screws up all the time like I always do. Acting in the best interest of the group but then backfires on him tenfold. But deep down he was just a young man making a bunch of horrible decisions. The only thing I really hated about him is how he lied about giving the supplies to the bandits. That honestly could have saved Doug/Carly life if he just fess up to the group.

In all honesty, I'd consider Ben to be one of the game's biggest/most important characters.
Despite the fact that most of the story's developments that happened as a result of him weren't exactly positive, he played an incredibly influential role on where the story went from episode 3 onward.
A lot of people tend to cite Lee, Clementine and Kenny as the "big three" of the game. I think Ben deserves to be on that list as well, to make it "the big four."
In fact, even if you do let him die in episode 4, he's still the 4th longest lasting survivor of S1 (behind the big three).
Yes, I remember Ben! Clementines friend, and he also came with me to search for Clementine. Poor kid, screwing up all the time, and never got a chance to fully redeem himself. Eh, I'll consider him willingly going with me to rescue Clem as close to redemption as he's going to get. Still a shame his character couldn't develop more.
It actually was, his last name is Oberson as several people mention it, and if you do nothing when he grabs Ben, your choice comes up as "You let Crawford take care of him".

yeah... i did too, but i should admit that I REALLY BADLY wanted to let him die a painful death... He was just causing too much trouble and by choice.

He had good intentions and wasn't purposely trying to sabotage the group, but he was a major liability. Which i also why I told him he couldn't come to look for a boat with Kenny and I and when we kept him working on getting into the armory at Crawford. But he still manages to fuck it up! Why wouldn't he assume, oh, this axe must be keeping the door closed for a reason...we are in a building surrounded by undead...
if given the choice, I would've pushed him off the train after he confesses to lying about the bandits. By the time you get to Crawford and Savannah there's time to cool off and forgive him, but in the hours following the raid and the deaths of Katja and Duck...I really wanted to push him off the moving train

yeah i agree with he generally had good intentions(actually i'd have to say "not bad" intentions) but the fact he lied about the bandits and stole, and let someone else die for his crime was just too much for me, and I considered that 'crime by choice' even though he's not really evil person. I can't agree more that i would've chosen to push him off the train after the confession if i could. lol.
