Choose: Luke or Kenny?
If you were Clementine and you got stuck having to save either Luke or Kenny at the end of episode five, who would you choose? Why?
I would personally choose Luke because he treated her right throughout the whole season. Kenny verbally and physically abused Clementine on multiple accounts and I don't know if life with Kenny would ever really be peaceful.

Kenny doesnt physically abuse Clem, but he can accidently smack her in the face.
Anyway if there was a choice to save Luke or Kenny Id just curl in a ball and die
I just remember him hitting her on more than one occasion, or pushing her. I completely lost my patience with that man and his piss poor attitude, as much as I love him. I also just don't think he's the most stable option. Luke's health seemed wonky near the end of the season, but I think he wouldn't have done a lot of what Kenny did to Clem.
As much as I didn't like the Kenny vs. Jane fight, if there a fight between these two I'd literally do nothing. Set the controller down and stare at the screen.
Luke, I like Kenny and all but I just don't agree with most of his opinions, the way he treats other people and how he handles situations (as well he's the only one who's ever gotten on my nerves, I've been fine with every other character).
Instantly save Luke with zero regrets.
I think that'd be a lot harder than Kenny or Jane. I didn't really care for that much. I'd pick Kenny. But I'd make a special save file for Luke so I can have them both. But when has Kenny physically abused Clem? The only time I remember him 'hurting' her was by pushing to her the ground during the fight with Jane.
The only other characters that ever bothered me were Mike, Bonnie, and Arvo. Bonnie's annoyed me since Day 1. Mike was such a cool guy and I was really disappointed when he was just going to get up and leave Clem and the gang like that. Arvo turned out to be a huge jerk, but I did feel bad for how Kenny treated the kid. That's pretty much it.
I actually really love that trio. I actually wanted to go with them, but the plot demanded we have a Lee dream sequence and a finale, so Arvo got his "vengeance" for his sister.
I would have preferred to go with them than with Kenny at that point (who's on a downward spiral and has been the whole season), but they seemed so alright with leaving Clem that I couldn't help but feel a little betrayed. I totally loved that dream sequence, though, mostly because I miss Lee like crazy. If only he were still in the game. Sigh.
Depends on the exact situation, but in a generic choice like Carley/Doug I'd go with Kenny.
I didn't feel betrayed as it did make sense, they obviously wouldn't bring Kenny, Jane was a complete wildcard, they can't be sure what to do with AJ as they only have food that isn't for babies and if they did take him with them they could bring the wrath of Kenny against them, and with Clem the game constantly portrayed Clem as being a really close friend with Kenny so they have no idea what she'd do. Though taking all of the supplies was a bit over the top.
Speaking of the supplies, if Bonnie had drowned in the lake with Luke, we only see Mike and Arvo with one bag, yet Clem can still accuse them of stealing all of the supplies. Kind of weird.
Yeah, I thought taking all of the supplies was selfish. I know they've got to survive too, but it wouldn't have hurt to not leave the other guys stranded with absolutely nothing. You're totally right about Bonnie being there or not, though. Personally, either way, they shouldn't take everything. I get Mike and Arvo leaving together, since they've been buddy-buddy and against Kenny the whole time, more than I do the same scenario with Bonnie... Mostly because Bonnie has that sort of important talk with Clem and then all of a sudden changes her mind within hours. It just seemed weird to me. Maybe it seemed worse because Bonnie was there in my version.
Well Bonnie can either be nice to you or very pissed off at you based on the Luke decision, though she might have a thing for Mike or at least it seems like Mike Likes Her.
That's the third guy she's possibly been involved with throughout the games. And I thought people judged Luke for being with one girl... She was nice to me in mine. I think that's why I sort of was surprised a little by what happened with the trio. It was kind of like oh yeah we're friends we're cool and then all of a sudden SURPRISE WE'RE GONE
Yeah, wish they could have stayed, I mean that was an easy way to get rid of two (or three) characters in one swoop. Originally you could even have the choice to shoot Mike, however they took it out at the last minute for unknown reasons.
I don't know why you'd choose to shoot Mike unless he turned into a Walker or he got in a fight. He's a pretty chill guy, so maybe the endings for the last episode were altered at the last minute? It'd make sense as to why those characters just disappear conveniently.
Nah, doesn't seem like it affected the endings, if you notice, if you threaten Mike, the scene drags on for a long time really weirdly and you feel like you should be able to move your cursor, that would have originally been your time to shoot Mike.
When people mod the scene in, you can ask them about Mike and Kenny will reassure you that you did the right thing by killing Mike, so it has no effect on the endings, though it makes me curious as to why they took it out.
I'd choose Kenny.
While Luke was a great guy, and even though I liked him, I don't think he had the ability to to keep Clementine safe.
Kenny proved he was more than capable.
As Lee, I chose Kenny to be Clementine's next guardian, back in Season 1.
And that is something I still stand by.
And Kenny had a soft spot for Clementine.
He encouraged her to believe in herself, and showed he had confidence in her, by entrusting her with very important tasks.
And not to say that Luke didn't, but one thing Kenny had, that Luke didn't, was experience at being a father.
And when did Kenny ever physically abuse Clementine?
He never intentionally hit her, or anything close to it.
When I started episode 5 I had already decided if I had to choose between Kenny or Luke, I'd choose Luke. No matter what the situation I would choose to save Luke because he trusted Clem and Clem trusted him, even if you were horrible to Luke on several occasions he would still care for Clem when he had no reason to do so. The same could be said for Kenny but he had a reason to care for Clem although he was broken and was beyond repair, so if given the choice I would've chosen Luke.
Luke because Kenny is going insane.
Kenny, always Kenny, over everyone else (maybe except Clem).
Luke, because he was only one of the group I really trusted with Clementine. Even when he hecked up with mistakes or his plans, his honesty and ability to keep going was what I liked about him and was what I always kept in mind after what Nick said about his friend "I wish I was like him, I wish I could keep moving all the time. I'm just not built like that." Kenny fell apart after Sarita, Luke lost his whole cabin group [and his folks like he mentioned] and even when regretting failing them, he still kept it together for the others. But I think as well him being less aggressive and not so snap-decision like Kenny was what I prefered. He was less likely to pick a fight or to go smashing some guy's head open with a crowbar of justice. That said his wimpiness for that worried me, because men like Carver were dangerous and Luke was still willing just to leave the guy rather than take out a threat like Kenny ended up doing [even though I don't agree with how violent Kenny went about that, even if it was out of revenge and he was pissed off] .
Despite it, Luke still felt like a character that could still learn and adapt, and I liked that humanity in him too and thought that would've been good for Clem and A.J, and was what I reaaaally wanted for my Clemmy and that baby, even if he ended up dying before Season 3 and we never saw him again, picking Luke for ending, I could think at least 'okay, they'll be alright for a while'...;_; instead, we had to pick between the lady that one minute tells Clem to abandon everybody because screw trust and then vows to stay the next because one day of opening up to the Clementine is apparently enough to forge an eternal frendship that involves 'hiding badies and acting like they've been BBF for years.' that felt as natural as a balloon for a condom. Meanwhile you have the option of picking the other guy who's a nice uncle one minute still mourning his family and on the path of redemption with A.J, and then is smashing heads open, beating up an Arvo, and stabbing rogue ladies in the chest the next out of anger that he admits he can't control.
I don't hate these characters, it's just picking survival or survival, what did it matter? They were exactly the same [in that they would do what they had to in order to survive] and why something as forced and cliché as a fight? Two distinctly different options instead of two near identical ones would've made the decision a lot harder and not just on character favorites but moral decisions; hold onto one's humanity and show mercy on others, or do what one has to and survive no matter the costs. I just wish Luke could've been the humanity option to give those kids...and then, you know, change save slots and pick Kenny/Jane for the other, because I'm not narrow minded I just would've prefered humanity more.
Luke, he's the sane one of the two.
Kenny, buddy, I´m sorry but...
Always Luke.
Kenny, I've known him since the beginning, he was my best friend as Lee and Clementine, and he would never do anything to hurt Clem or AJ, all he wants is to protect them and keep them safe. Luke's a good guy, but I trust and love Kenny more than him.
When did he hit her? The closest thing to physical abuse was when he said he oughta slap her. It would depend on the situation. In the case with Jane she deserved to die. If Kenny just lost his temper and wanted to kill her that would be when I stepped in
If you run to protet Arvo when Kenny is beating him in No Going Back, Kenny will accidentlly hit Clementine. Also, if you decide to get in between Kenny and Jane and try to stop Kenny, he will push you to the ground.
It was an accidental elbow. I didn't help Arvo so it never happened
Neither
Luke.
Luke same reasons what you said @choircorgis ...Kenny = time bomb.
Between the guy with a bullet wound in the leg and the guy with a smashed in eyeball. I'll pick Luke. His personality was more relatable to me and seemed like a kinder/more reasonable soul than Kenny's. I know it's not good in the ZA, but I want Clementine to be around people like that.
I save Kenny Always
What I meant was maybe he did something in a past version of the story that would somehow make it right to pull out a gun... Well, I'm curious, too. It seems strange cause he's definitely not the first person you'd think of needing to eliminate out of everyone in the group...
By abusive I meant more verbally than anything, but there was one occasion where he shoved her (I believe in episode six), he accidentally hit her once (although that wasn't done purposefully), and I think there may have been one other time but I could be totally wrong. Verbally, he was way out of line with Clem at times and it made me so mad because he found ways to blame her for things that she couldn't control (like Sarita's death, etc.) By the end of the second season, he just seems like such a broken person. I don't know how long Clem would be able to survive with him, no matter how much he tried to fix himself. He does love her, but I don't know if his love and will to protect her would be enough over time. He's not a people person and that can be an issue in a world where other people are all you have.
Well it seems like there was nothing else, it would just be Mike coming towards you trying to get you to put the gun down like usual. The choice I guess is whether or not you'd be willing to kill someone for betraying you.
Yeah... I don't think shooting him is the right thing to do, but giving him a piece of your mind wouldn't hurt.
Well it is heat of the moment and a lot of people probably wanted one of them dead in that moment.
Luke, for sure.
That's true. Funny how people's instincts vary depending on the heat of the moment. I think that's what makes TT games so interesting.
