Sorry about the late reply, but I don't personally see how being able to avoid it would put blame on the victim. I mean, you don't know it's coming, no one can predict it, it all depends on time and place. Let's say they gave you the option of going to two different places or just leaving a place before anyone notices. Lots of people do have choices, you just never know where they would lead to. If you did choose one place over the other, it's not your fault some screwed up individual took advantage of you, it was theirs and the unfortunate circumstance of time and place.
David Cage is a terrible game writer though, he puts a rape scenario in every game. Hell, in Heavy Rain had whatshername getting fondled and… more borderline raped like five times.
His treatment of women and more importantly rape as a development arc to make the heroine stronger and more able is disgusting. If a woman isn't about to get a train ran on her, she ain't developing as far as DC is concerned.
I remember playing Heavy Rain at a friends' house when I was in high school about three years ago. We were playing it from 7pm 'till like 5am laughing with each other and taking turns.
And when the Madison shower scene started, we lost our shit for like a good three minutes. We were still teenagers, so a naked lady made our sides hurt. Then my friends' mom came up and asked what we were doing and he barely muttered "looking at porn, idiot" and for whatever dumb reason that killed me.
At least we enjoyed ourselves, more than I can say for a lot of other people.
Oh, so many things. Giving Clementine a Tyreese-Like death, Killing off Bigby wolf, Killing off AJ, Making a game based off of a Nintendo game or a sonic game, Making Clem so badass she isn't clementine any more. Canceling GoT and TFTBL.

If they get rid of Clem or put her on the sidelines, it would be waste of building up a good character after 2 seasons imo.

I never stated they should. In fact, I'm super opposed to the ideal. I stated if they felt they had to (for wh… moreatever reason) put rape into Clem's story arc, address the topic with respect and class and not trivialize it as something to further Clementine as a "strong survivor."
If they did do something as disgusting as make rape simply a development event, I can assuredly say here and now I wouldn't be buying any more products from TT ever again.

Cause it's casting aside characters and intrigue for the intent to make the plot exploitative and violent just for the sake of violence. That's why films like Natural Born Killers and Taxi Driver will always be considered more genius than Hobo with a Shotgun or whatever over-the-top gore fest comes out.
