Better to Sleep?

Before No Going Back was released, there was a glitch on the PSN where the title was Better to Sleep. I've been curious about this and have looked it up thinking it was a famous quote or poem to no avail. Does anyone know what this is in Refrence to?

  • I'm going to take a guess and say it's because of the dream Clem has about Lee after being shot.

''Better to Sleep'' is basically referring to how everything is better in her dream when she's with Lee instead of her situation with Kenny and Jane + being shot and robbed in the cold.

  • Really? :) I didn't catch it. That's pretty interesting though.

  • It sounds familiar, but it makes me think of Hamlet's speech: "to be or not to be" when he says something like "a chance to sleep, per chance to dream..."

  • I don't know if it's a reference to anything, all I know is that Better to Sleep was the original name of the episode before it was changed to No Going Back and definitely refers to Clem's dream about Lee and how she reawakens to the Jane and Kenny fighting, thereby symbolizing it is better to sleep.

Fun fact, the achievements of No Going Back are all named after poems or lines of poetry.

  • All the Dead Lie Down..... I don't know why but whenever I see that Acheivment I get sad....

  • It might have been sleep as in death

    So better to be dead

  • I guess in a way its saying its better to dream than live in the nightmare.

    Or something.

Whenever I'm sad or depressed, I feel like sleeping. Maybe the title, Better to Sleep, is related to that? I think Season 2 was rewritten around Episode 4 and was originally much darker.

It's saying sleep is what'll happen if you play something as boring as No Going Back.

And it'll be better... and more consistent.

  • Better to Sleep was a working title for the Episode, probably one they never had any intention of using. The game files state A House Divided was originally called Don't Look Back and In Harm's Way was originally called In Cold Blood.
