Some Walking Dead Hypocrisy or whatnot

Apparently, losing someone you care about is an excuse to justify behavior for people like Kenny. But not Lilly. Or Jane. Or someone who's name is not Kenny

Kenny has the right to act like a douchebag to protect his family. But not Larry.

That awkward moment when you let Clementine be in the same room with someone that was going to turn sooner or later. But apparently, Kenny had a good reason to be quick in smashing Larry's head in with a saltlick. But then I realized, that if I had shot Duck square in the face, while in Katjaa's arm, I would've been a huge fucking asshole. After all, the "don't blame me, he was going to turn sooner or later, I was just looking out for family (Clem)" excuse would've worked perfectly fine here.. right?

The fact that Lee was a convicted killer went in through one ear, and out the next.

That moment when you realized Lilly was just looking out after the group. Despite the fact hanging out with the man that smashed her father's brain in. That moment when you realized she was right, but you still considered her to be an asshole. After all, who in their right mind cusses out someone who's borderline batshit insane? No one dared to do that Kenny in season 2, did they? Especially after he straight up ruins an entire group!

That moment when Jane was called horrible, mainly by Kenny fans, for leaving her sister behind, and trying to convince Clementine to leave Sarah. But the very first episode we meet Kenny in, he fails to help Lee save Shawn.

That moment went Kenny is all torn up about Sarita. Then you realize,

1) Jane lost her sister.

2) Rebecca lost Alvin

3) Sarah lost her dad.

4) Luke lost Nick, Uncle Pete, and basically his family too.

5) Clementine lost her parents. And had to shoot Lee or abandon him.

6) Mike is all alone (No character background) so I assume he lost his family

7) Bonnie lost the people that helped her get over her drug addiction. And loses it when Luke dies.

Boy, Clementine surely said it right. "You're just feeling sorry for yourself!"

That moment when Kenny acts like a complete asshole to Clementine over Sarita's death. After that ordeal, some people are completely fine with him. Despite the fact that he clearly threatened Clementine. But when Bonnie does it, everyone wants her dead. Like I said, if your name is not Kenny, you are not allowed to grieve!

When Jane hides the baby to provoke a reaction for Kenny. OH WHAT AN EVIL WITCH! POOR KENNY When Carly disses Lilly over something she was right about, Fuck Lilly! After all, Carly provoked Lilly, didn't she?

My only request for season 3 is that they don't push a character down our throats like they did with Kenny. You already made Christa disappear, and I'm expecting Jane to die in the first episode.. Can we please get something else?

  • Let me just say this..

The game is much different when you play without bias

  • edited March 2015

Larry was something like 6'3" and 260 lbs. Duck was something like 4'5" and 80 lbs.

Trying to fight off Larry in a tiny room where you can't escape from him is quite different than trying to fight off a small kid.

  • I thought Jane and Bonnie did more bad than good. Bonnie being a druggy is responsible for losing everything. I actually don't hate Larry or Lily so I can understand. And everyone did lose a part of their family but their wife abd kid and not right in front them

  • Eh, might be an idea to put "spoilers" at the beginning of this...

  • I just don't like Lily or Jane's personalities, and everyone else you listed i felt equally as bad for as i did with Kenny (except maybe mike, but like you said we don't know shit on him).

  • edited March 2015

I blame them, not Kenny. Most of them didn't even blink when their close ones were killed off. The only one who actually cried was Rebecca. Kenny has every right in the world to grieve. And they should as well, but they didn't. Apparently, everyone is emotionless except for Kenny and Rebecca. He was angry and sad at the same time, so he had to get it out. Then the shithead Arvo shows up aaaand once again, Kenny is the only one seeing the trouble. He's the only one that knows he's going to get people killed but whatever the fuck you do, you still have to go with Arvo. You can't just shoot him yourself or convince the others to move out of the way so Kenny can shoot him. And jesus, why would he tell them the truth and take them to the house? They'll obviously kill him when they find it and he won't have any use.

Kenny is by far the best character in the walking dead. Lee can be better just because you control him, but from the non-playable characters, Kenny is the best. He is loyal, friendly, funny and gets the job done. To top that all, he will do literally everything (this includes sacrificing his own life) to protect the people that are close to him.

Only 13% of people stayed with him until the end and after Wellington. To those 13%, I salute you. Fuck the haters.

  • But not Larry.

Damn Right, Larry doesn't have the right....... Let's just say that I SALTLICKED him HueHueHue

I can tell this will turn into a Kenny vs Jane thread. But fuck it, I'll try to counter these points anyway.

If you mean Sarita, then was never justified, he got hate when he yelled at Clem in EP4.

Neither has the right. Both got hate for acting like assholes.

You're right there. But the excuse just to blow Duck's brains out of nowhere without telling anyone would've been a dick move overall. But then you'd be acting just like Kenny did with Larry.

What does Lee being a convicted criminal have to do with anything?

You can cuss out Kenny, but he didn't act upon those feelings of killing someone who insulted him. Like Lily.

You're right there. Both had felt horrible with what they did.

Kenny's way of grieving is getting angry at people. Did everyone else handle it better than Kenny? Yes.

It's not like Bonnie tried to leave the group after that. What Kenny said were words. He didn't try to leave. Plus, Bonnie tells Mike to leave Clem for dead after Arvo shoots her.

Carley shouldn't have insulted Lily. But the difference here is that Lily killed someone over an insult, Kenny tried to kill someone because he thought she killed an innocent baby. Plus, if you forgive Lily, she steals the RV and leaves you for dead.

  • Probably because Kenny was one of the only round characters in the games who can show more than 2 emotions

  • Awkwardly enough, if you do absolutely nothing to stop Kenny, guess what? Zombie Duck kills everyone!

  • Im happy he's determinant too tbh, because that means all the players can get their own separate happy ending.

If telltale were smart they wouldn't treat Kenny and Jane like Omid was treated, they will lose more players if they do so (hell, it'd be a good idea to just not focus on clementine at all anyways, then Jane/Kenny could be alive depending on the ending and they'd never need to die due to laziness)

I got my ending how I wanted it at least. I know the chances are high for him and Jane (depends on who you choose) to die early in Season 3.

  • I would find it odd if Kenny didn't grieve over Sarita, all he wanted was some time alone, but the group wanted Clem to try and help him out by talking to him. His girl just died not even a day before his outburst on Clem so it's understandable that he would snap in that moment no matter what circumstances.

Everyone has their own way of grieving, like Sarah shutting down after Carlos, Jane's constant stories about her sister, Rebecca pissed off at a dying/dead Carver, and Luke known for just keep pushing but then a realization that he lost everyone. As history has shown Kenny will get angry at the world when bad stuff happens to him, but he will eventually suck it up and bury it.

The great thing about TWD is that plenty of these characters are justified for the decisions they make, it is just a matter of looking at it from their perspective.

  • This thread is gonna turn into a swarm very soon. VERY soon.

To address some points, might as well before this thread eventually closes:

That awkward moment when you let Clementine be in the same room with someone that was going to turn sooner or later. But apparently, Kenny had a good reason to be quick in smashing Larry's head in with a saltlick. After all, the "don't blame me, he was going to turn sooner or later, I was just looking out for family (Clem)" excuse would've worked perfectly fine here.. right?

You see the difference here is that Larry would turn immediately and they weren't armed. With Duck, he would turn in a unverified amount of time, they were armed and prepared and he was confirmed to be still alive.

When Jane hides the baby to provoke a reaction for Kenny. OH WHAT AN EVIL WITCH! POOR KENNY When Carly disses Lilly over something she was right about, Fuck Lilly! After all, Carly provoked Lilly, didn't she?

It's Carley. Carley did not want a reaction like that, it's obvious. As a result, an innocent person died. That is why 'fuck Lilly' exists. Jane, on the other hand, caused that entire situation, and she was not exactly innocent.

  • I actually created it.

Not joking, I took timeout to actually capture that gif. It's my magnum opus.

    Clemenem posted: »

  • Because Lee understands what is it's like to have an outburst and do something you will immediately regret.

Also, because who wants their daughter around a convicted killer? At first I thought Larry was being a dick for no reason, but then I realized, holy shit.. Lee was going to prison for the rest of his life before the apocalypse happened.

It's not really a counter if you agree with me. I'll admit myself, I used to be a hypocrite. But after playing the game over and over, you start getting a different point of view.

"What Kenny said were words." Are these "Bonnie tells Mike to leave Clem for dead after Arvo shoots her. " not words too? Literally, the only reason Bonnie said that was because she can't stand Kenny. No one could, except Jane. And we all know how it turned out.

"Kenny tried to kill someone because he thought she killed an innocent baby" Kenny tried to kill someone without even proving malice. If you think about it, walking with a baby during a blizzard... holy shit smokes. Leaving it inside the truck until you try to find a temporary shelter seems like a very smart idea. At least to me.

And so does Kenny. Lee killed his wife's lover. He was angry, Kenny was angry at Clem for cutting Sarita's arm off, or I assume letting her get bit. In EP5 Lee admits that he regrets what he did and does Kenny. The only difference is that Kenny got to apologize while Lee didn't.

I understood why Larry was acting like dick. But Lee does show he can be trustworthy by saving his life when he was looking for his medicine. When Lee tells Kenny about his past, he trusts Lee, not without a little doubt of course. But still, Kenny does trust Lee.

The difference is that Bonnie left Clem for dead. While Kenny only said horrible things. And he also apologized for what he said. And telling Mike to leave Clem bleeding on ground dying is because she can't stand Kenny? That's way worse.

How would you react if someone who you don't like and don't trust got a child who you love like your own killed? It's more than understandable the way Kenny reacted. Was it right? No. But was it right to leave AJ in the car and almost getting killed to prove a point that Kenny was crazy? No. What would've happened if AJ didn't start to cry and Jane died. AJ would be dead.

But then again, the whole point was Kenny going straight for blood. Just like it happened with Sarita. Kenny needed no proof of malice.

Basically, if Jane was running with the baby and was attacked by a bunch of demonic souls who wanted to take the baby, I'm pretty sure Kenny would still kill her if the baby disappeared.

Sure, Jane's plan backfired and Clementine had to kill Kenny, but she proved her point. Once Kenny goes into this dark place (which Kenny himself admits) you better hope there's a huge swarm of walkers around you so he can take his anger out on something else. A lesson which should've been learned with Sarita.

"How would you react if someone who you don't like and don't trust got a child who you love like your own killed" Depends how mild this dislike is. Kenny had irrational hate for everyone.

"The difference is that Bonnie left Clem for dead. While Kenny only said horrible things. And he also apologized for what he said. And telling Mike to leave Clem bleeding on ground dying is because she can't stand Kenny? That's way worse."

Hey, kid. I love you, but I can't stand your psycho friend so sorry we can't be friends anymore. Besides, we have already established who Kenny is, do you think he really would've let Mike and Bonnie live? Despite the fact that they didn't pull the trigger?

"Carley shouldn't have insulted Lily. But the difference here is that Lily killed someone over an insult, Kenny tried to kill someone because he thought she killed an innocent baby. Plus, if you forgive Lily, she steals the RV and leaves you for dead."

Lilly was right though. Maybe she's one of those few people that can easily spot liars by body language. "Plus, if you forgive Lily, she steals the RV and leaves you for dead." An RV which would've been abandoned literally 5 - 10 minutes later. Kenny really didn't care. All he needed to hear was "baby's dead" and that's it he's killing

    bloop posted: »

And so does Kenny. Lee killed his wife's lover. He was angry, Kenny was angry at Clem for cutting Sarita's arm off, or I assume letting her

  • When did Kenny got straight for blood with Sarita? He didn't try to kill anyone when Sarita died. He isolated himself. And once he realized Rebecca need his help. He sucked it up and helped her out. And why does Lee get a free pass of killing his wife's lover? Which is a lot worse than killing someone who gave the impression that she got your child killed, accident or not. It's because we love Lee.

He wouldn't have gone to his dark place if Kenny didn't provoke him. And when he does go to his dark place, he isolates himself. Both in S1EP3 and S2EP4. He just wanted to be left alone.

Kenny didn't have a irrational hate for everyone except Jane. And maybe Luke. But he did feel bad about his death. And the dislike is that she talks about abandoning everyone. Gives you a pretty good reason not to trust her.

What about the fact that They were gonna take all the supplies and leave them for dead. If she did really love Clem, why not tell her about the leaving. Clem can express dislike of Kenny. But no, they decide to take Arvo, a kid who we barely know and almost got everyone killed. And they also could've grabbed her off the ground and ran as fast as they can.

And let's just this stupid argument, no one gets anywhere and nobodies opinion changes.

I think the single biggest hypocrisy in the fandom is people wanting to murder Lilly if she returns because she killed someone in a burst of emotion for no good reason, while Lee did exactly the same thing and they view him as capable of taking care of clem.
