TWD: Daryl Leaving/Killed off rumors?

So lately, there have been rumors that Norman is leaving the walking dead cast. He also mentioned in an interview that the season finale is going to be sad and you'll have to get tissues before watching it. Apparently, he's doing a big movie with a couple of well known actors and has a ''tight schedule''. He's been kinda off for the past couple of episodes and Kirkman said they're not afraid to kill off anyone, be it Daryl or Glenn or even Rick.

I doubt he's going to die, but for the season finale it says ''Daryl runs into trouble''. It could be a cliffhanger or he'll be completely safe and someone else will die. Leave your thoughts, I really wouldn't like to see him gone so soon, especially after he's shown some emotions and his character's started to develop more.

  • If he does die, I'll be upset, but I won't stop watching the show. Frankly I'd be more upset if Carol dies. This is TWD, no character is safe, not even fan favorites. But if he were to die, I'd like it to be at the hands of Negan, and they aren't at that point yet, so I think he's safe for now.

  • I hope he dies. Great actor but the character is annoying as hell. He should have died in Season 3 when he stopped developing.

God I hope so. Daryl is so unbelievably bland and I don't think Norman Reedus is that good of an actor. He always uses the same gruff voice for almost every line he has. His crying is terrible and when he tries to act angry I always cringe. And people acting like the show will die if he does really grinds my gears.

    I can't stand him.

  • I hope he gets saved for negan but if he dies now i wont really care.

Credit to the new showrunner for making his character one I kind of like again, theres still loads of ridiculous daryl moments but at least he's not a superhero anymore

I would rather Daryl get killed by Negan than what happened in the comics to be honest.

...I don't even read the comics and I'm not over it.

  • i would be so happy in a way since he is so overrated at this point we can't have characters like daryl overshadow the awesome ones to come like jesus and ezekiel

  • Oh I guarantee he Etheir dies in the season finale or next season mid finale. It just seems like that's where the character is going and I don't mind if they kill him off if it's done right( couch Negan cough)

Negan should be the one to take out Daryl out. I agree with mostly everyone on here, Daryl was a pretty awesome character through the first two seasons, but over time, he's just become overrated and started hogging screentime from other characters who actually needed it. Tyreese never became the badass he was suppose to be, and Abraham is barely getting any screentime as of recent. Plus, many of his fans are absolutely irritating and claim Daryl is what made TWD good, which is honestly painfully hilarious. At this point, he's bland, boring, and seriously overrated. His end should be reserved for Negans debut.

  • Unless they're trying to make a huge impact, then yes, Daryl is probably out.

If they kill Glenn, it'll be a waste of time because everyone is eventually expecting that. What good is a season finale if the main event is something everyone knows?

My main guess is they're going to kill someone really close to Daryl. Who? Carol. But oh well, guess we shall wait!

  • I hope he dies. I hate the show, but if they got rid of Daryl, I might consider watching it.

It's okay if Daryl dies, he's going to Silent Hill after this so...;_; who am I kidding, I'll be friggin sad!

People keep thinking Glenn will die with all the baseball bat foreshadowing, but I honestly think they're playing us and that it'll end up being somebody else like Maggie or Daryl or somebody else that's gonna get killed if the Negan guy does show up.

  • Part of me don't want Daryl to die, but another part of me feel that his character has finished his part of the story.

They could either have him leave the group, leaving the possibility of him returning or kill him off.

  • Damn, didn't expect those replies at all.

I really think that he makes the show better. If he's gone, the quality would drop for sure, but it won't ruin the show as some people say. He's been a crucial character throughout the seasons and has saved many lives. He has been Rick's second-in-charge since the beginning of Season 4. Now, I can see why so many people don't like him, but he has way more fans than haters. He is one of the biggest reasons of the income AMC gets. Of course, everyone is responsible as well, but he's just too important to leave/get killed off. I believe that his character development is just in the early stages.

Now, for those that said Negan is going to be the one who kills him. Even though Lincoln said there's a chance Negan is coming in Season 5's finale, Kirkman on the other hand said that Negan will not appear in the series at least till season 11. I can see Daryl sticking to the end of this amazing show, and I truly hope that's gonna happen.

  • I heard there was a theory somewhere that Daryl would become Dwight in the Tv show, which could be extremely interesting if they made Daryl leave, for him to return with Negan

  • That would be just fucked up. It will literally ruin it for everyone to see Norman acting as a villain and being against the group. It gives me the chills when I think about it.

    pls no

I think it'd be interesting if that happened, but I don't see it happening. Also, I wonder if they're going to do that iron to the face thing like they did in the comics.

  • Sticking to the end? Good god, I hope NOT. His characters story is up, and that's all there is to it. And I seriously doubt the quality will diminish, I know I'll be happy that everything isn't about Daryl this Daryl that every episode. His character has run its course, and it's time for him to meet Lucille.

  • Wouldn't ruin it for me.. Hell, I'd be glad to see his character is actually doing INTERESTNG things.

So many walking dead fans (or Norman Reedus fans) threaten to riot if AMC kills off Daryl.

Although, so far we've seen that they are not afraid to kill off main characters. Even though Daryl's story is done according to some people, I doubt he'll die because of his contribution and value to the series.

  • Wouldn't be the end of the world if he died. I'm not really sure where they're going with his character. When the prison fell, and it was him and Beth, he sorta acted similar to the way he is now. It took Beth to bring him back. So I'm not sure what/who is going to bring him back this time.

  • If he goes so be it, I can't really stand the way he's been acting these past episodes. I liked him a lot better when the series first started, a troubled guy willing to take action. Now it feels like he's all mopey and emo for the fangirls (I know he's been through some shit, but at least everyone else is trying). But I would feel better if his character got kicked back into gear and stopped hurting himself to make the pain go away blah blah blah.

  • No Chance,Kirkman will have his character go missing or something or get trapped,a fan favourite death? these stopped after season 2 ;)

  • Hopefully he dies so Abraham can get more screen time

  • It's more likely for Abraham to die than Daryl.

Although I kinda agree with the comment about Daryl being gone for a while. I doubt he'll be killed off, but it's possible for it to be a cliffhanger. He'll be probably back later in Season 6. But.. Only time will tell.

  • Got a feeling he won't die, but will be MIA for a Season or so, returning later on, filling the role of Dwight from the comics.

  • If Carol dies, then Daryl REALLY doesn't have a place on the show anymore.

He has been Rick's second-in-charge since the beginning of Season 4.

Beginning of Season 3, actually, and that's the problem. He should not have been Rick's right hand man for this long. That ruined a theme of the comics.

but he's just too important to leave/get killed off.

    False.

I believe that his character development is just in the early stages.

If that's true, that's horrible, HORRIBLE writing. If a character that's been here from the beginning is just in the beginning stages of his/her development in the second half of the fifth season, then you KNOW you screwed something up.

Kirkman on the other hand said that Negan will not appear in the series at least till season 11.

    Proof?

I can see Daryl sticking to the end of this amazing show

    Definitely not going to happen.

Even though the show is based on the comics, everything is not the same as the comics. If you don't like it, you should just read the comics and quit watching it. I don't see who else would be Rick's right hand after Hershel died. Daryl was obviously the best choice and still is.

False? He is the most liked character of them all. He gets them a lot of income. A lot of fans will quit watching if he gets killed off, so no. It's not false, he is important to the show.

I didn't mean it like that, as in he's only starting to developing. It was a bad on my side, I should've put it differently. What I wanted to say is, this is the first time Daryl is actually showing some deep emotions and grieving. He is a new person, has a new side that the fans haven't yet seen.

There are a lot of articles about it, you can search them up by yourself.

''Lincoln goes on to talk about Season 6 of the show, which definitively lets us know that Negan will be affecting this storyline by the end of this year.
Lincoln’s words about Negan come in direct opposition to comic creator and show writer Robert Kirkman, who said last year that Season 12 could get here before Negan is ever introduced.''

Maybe not, but I doubt he's going to die in the season finale.

You do have some valid points, but I don't think it's happening in the near future.

I was just looking for a random nickname. It is true that I like Daryl, but I'm not a fan girl and I am definitely not a girl. I'm an 18 yo dude. That's just my opinion, it doesn't have to mean it's going to be that way.

Abraham made a better right hand man than Daryl EVER did. I like the show, but the comics are just so much better in every single way. Daryl's time was up a long time ago, and I can't be the ONLY one who thought The Governor should have killed Daryl via decapitation with Michonnes sword. Daryl was like Comic Tyreese in a way. Comic Tyreese served as Ricks right hand man all through the Prison Arc, as did Daryl. When the Prison Arc came to an end, Tyreese was killed with Michonnes Sword in front of the entire group (Like Hershel was killed in the show), THAT'S what should have happened to Daryl, not him unrealistically destroying a tank and using a friggin walker as a shield against ASSAULT RIFLE BULLETS.

  • Tyreese should have been Ricks right hand man after The Prison Arc, where Daryl SHOULD HAVE been killed by The Governor.

I am kind of fond of the Daryl character but i agree, he is overrated. Its never any fun or interesting when fans threaten the studios if their beloved characters get killed off and to try and influence them to keep specific characters ongoing. I hate that..it's silly and reveals maturity levels. If its right for the plot then let them go. It's the same with Clementine and the game. I have been very anxious to see the TV version Jesus since he is my favorite character of the comics. Hope he is just like the comic version or better. Because often AMC makes the characters too different from the comic counterpart I understand that they need to remix things a bit for originality..But If they can get Negan and Jesus spot on then I'd be satisfied in general. Governor wasn't really anything like the comic version Andrea too. Dale was a spot on example but got killed rather early.

Predictability doesn't always have to be lackluster. I feel if its executed properly it will make the ton of difference. Many were expecting a Luke against Kenny showdown in the game finale but they switched that up with Jane instead and it really ended up being an actual illogical waste, possibly all for the sake of being unexpected. If they did kill Glenn at the hands of Negan it would atleast be faithful to the comic if nothing else. Out of everything else in the TV show kind of not being that way.
