I...I can't play Season 2 anymore. : (

edited March 2015 in The Walking Dead

So, this afternoon, I was chatting with a friend online and finally decided to have another round at TWD Season 2. " Its been a good while scents I've played it. Why not have another go" said I

When I booted up the game, I had my headphones on and ready for all the feels to come pouring in. But once that "Goodbye" Theme played in the main menu, I just frost, and said, "I can't, I can't, I can't". And just shut it down, and played Fallout New Veges.

I'm I the only one who gets this or is this just something normal.

  • Yeah, I cant find myself going back to play Walking Dead after I played it once

  • I've played Season 1 more times than I can remember. Season 2 = one and done.

  • You just hit it and quit it huh?

  • Personally, I feel bad playing through Season 2 because that I know what happens to all the characters. In particular, Luke.

At least I still have Kenny, even though his future doesn't look too bright.

I have no trouble playing either season over

There's just certain scenes I really really really don't like doing again

  • It sucks knowing what's going to happen when replaying S2. Knowing who's gonna die, all the emotional roller coaster scenes, everyone talking shit behind each other's backs, all good times. I remember waking up as early as I could to play the episode when it came out, just before work.

  • Replaying it just bores me.

  • I know exactly how you feel. As much as I love the series, the Season 2 Ending, was like the straw that broke the camels back for me at a pretty bad time. And it onset a depression for me that lasted a few months. I deleted the Walking Dead Season 2 off my Xbox, and sold Season 1 Back to GameStop. I love the games, but I'm not going to play them again. Too many feels. Too many feels...

  • Well I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope that you're feeling better now.

  • I kinda had something like that happen awhile ago. I booted the game up for the first time in months to go start up my asshole Clementine file..then after episode 1 I stopped because I felt bad for those loveable bastards..strangely enough had no problem doing scumbag lee for whatever reason

  • It's understandable that it makes you feel depressed about Season 1's ending...but trust me, play it. It'll make you sad at times, yes. But it's an incredible game.

  • Yeeeeah buddy.

Replaying it just reminds me of how ridiculous choices and plot were in season 2.

Maybe it is because I replayed season 1 just before replaying season 2. Season 1 did so many things right from determinate characters like Doug and Carly Living through a full episode with full dialogue, (unlike Nick who becomes a mute shell until dying 2 episodes later in season 2) to the option of chopping off Lee's arm which in turn makes quick time events harder. You could become friends or enemies with Kenny and a bunch of different story out comes that were never reflected in season 2.

Choices mattered so much more in season 1 or at least felt like they mattered with bonus dialogue and character reactions. Even small things like if you taught Clem how to shoot right as Lee she would save Molly at Crawford so that you didn't accidentally shoot and hurt Molly.

After episode 2 in season 2 what choices do you really have that effect the story other than the final choice of Jane and Kenny? You have things like having the choice to shoot walker Rebecca or do nothing afraid of starting the stand off, teach Sarah how to shoot, Have the choice of saving Jane or Sarah and a bunch of other choices but they didn't really change anything.

In Season 2 everything just feels like an on rails story until the final choices.

  • The choice to watch Carver die or not has a pretty big effect on the game, it changes several dialogues between Luke and Kenny and their perspective of you.

  • It does but why see that when we can just bash the season? (sarcasm)

This is a common misconception. QTEs during episode 5 are not affected by the choice to amputate Lee's arm. Would have been a neat addition, though.

Some parts of season 2 is like slap stick comedy.

    I have no soul.

  • .......Good, probably for the best.

  • Yeah Yeah J-Master, I hate Season 2 now. Just like everyone else in this sodding world at this point. Honestly I feel like I'm the one out of 8 people in the world that actually like season 2. : (

  • Depression IMO is only a state of mind, do things that make you happy, not depressed. Like sometimes when my neighbors put their trashcans too close to the curb, sometimes... people run into them.

I'm doing much better thanks man.

  • For me, it's hard both emotionally and stressfully.

Because I make a load of Youtube Poops of The Walking Dead and in order to do so I need to record footage. So after doing my let's plays and recording that, I find myself having to go through it again and record specific parts. It's hard because I end up getting attached and sad when certian scenes happen but also stressing as I need to collect a lot of footage.

Never said you hated S2, I just don't think it's worth coming back to.

  • I'm just sick of people always hating on S2 all the time. I meant nothing bad by it.

  • I have played both seasons over and over again. The main reason being, is I want to hear every change of dialogue the characters have.
For example, in my primary play through I disagreed with Carver in his office, called him a murderer etc.
Then I went along with his arguments and agreed to help him. Just a pity that opportunity didn't see the light of day.

Yes I obviously know the plot backwards now, but even so. I still get surprised. Like in one of my Season One playthroughs, I had some dialogue from Kenny that I have never heard before. From what I have read and been told, he will only say those lines, if you chop and change your loyalties and in a certain sequence.
This is why I find these games so enjoyable and why they are so unique.
