Saddest TWD Story
Which character do you think went through the most (dead or alive)? I will have to go with Kenny although he isn't one of my favs. Son bitten and killed, wife committed suicide, lost his boat, lost his best friend, lost his girlfriend, lost an eye. He had it pretty rough imo. What are your thoughts?

Carley. Her death bothers me the most about anyone in the game. I know she was kinda poking the bull, but she didn't deserve to be murdered in cold blood like that.
Is Clementine an option? That girl's been through some shit. If not, I'm gonna have to go with Kenny, for the same reason as the OP.
yes, she counts. They don't have to be dead. This thread is just about who's been through a lot
Clementine. A 8 years old girl surviving in ZA? Shit, she witnessed deaths, experiencing the reality of human nature, her parents dead, (even seeing them as a walker in front of her), and worse, her guardian angel, Lee, died, because of her. Then, she lost Omid and Christa, bit by a dog, people didn't trust her bite wound, losing Cabin crew one by one, having to make tough decisions, taking care of AJ and choosing Kenny; who she knew for a long time or Jane.... That's some serious tough shit there.
Though it wasn't her fault Lee was bitten. The stranger manipulated a vulnerable child. She's seen some fucked up bullshit though I agree.
Sarah. She dies in a brutal fashion screaming for her dead dad, knowing that the people who she thought were her friends have either made little effort to save her or outright abandoned her for selfish reasons. This is harsher in hindsight when in certain playthroughs Sarah is one of the few to help Clementine when everyone else either wanted her dead or didn't care enough, and she thanks her by leaving her to die a horrible death in the trailer.
Though I'm more in favour for this happening due to bad writing in Amid the Ruins, it also makes me wonder if Sarah was only tolerated by her group because of her dad being a doctor, and once he was out of the picture, everyone seemed too quick to forget about her once she died.
Sarah's situation in all is not only tragic, but frightening as well. Everything bad happens to her is beyond her control and everyone besides her is all to eager to decide her fate because she breaks down over the death of a loved one, people who were supposed to be her friends.
...Now that I think about it more, Nick comes a close second due to sharing a similar fate to Sarah in the end, and having a similar situation she was stuck in from the beginning.
Sarah. No one else comes close, IMO.
I would give the saddest story award to Clementine. Everyone she has come across are usually adults that (most of the time) can adjust to the world they live in. Clementine had to grow up in it. They all got a childhood, but Clem lost hers. Besides witnessing an enormous amount of deaths of her friends and family, she's out of luck when it comes to learning elementary schooling and beyond, or properly interacting with people without having some threat linger around. Clementine was only 8 when the ZA hit, which means she'll have only a few good things to remember. Now given her situation, she not only has to take care of herself, but a baby and someone else who's got problems (if no Wellington). I could go on.
Kenny' boat because no one ever found him ;-;
Kenny, Sarah and Nick.
That's a tough situation right there.
I laughed.
Kenny's been through the most IMO
I know right, i would say Sarah and Ben, come pretty Close.
Imagine being a 16 year old boy or whatever, being a coward. Feeling like a burden, and to die never getting a chance to better himself. Then everyone wanted us to push Sarah out the car door, while we were still driving through episode 3-4. It just felt like everyone was so concerned about themselves, and no one was concerned over the a child.
Then when she died, it was hard to hear.
Yup, Ben is a contender too. He didn't even know what happened to his family.
Clementine, you mean.
Kenny lost three people close to him, all three of which died because he wasn't around when he could've been there to protect them (so, it's his own negligence). Boohoo. Meanwhile, Clementine's lost her parents, Lee and Christa (both of which were exceptional guardians to her), she's seen everyone around her meet fates she feels she's been cheated out of.
She's endured the worst of it all... and as a young child no-less. Kenny just bitches about it the loudest which confuses a lot of people to thinking he is somewhat obligated to pity even though his son was bitten because he fled to start up the RV and leave behind Lilly rather than ensure his wife and child are safe. And his "second bitch" Sarita only bit the dust cause rather than staying close to her in the dangerous heard of walkers that were been shot at by gunmen, he separated himself because... fuck if I know.
He did say IMO
And IMO, Kenny is a bitch whose lost people because he himself wasn't there to protect them when he could've and would instead place blame solely on an eleven year old or a man who saved his ass rather than admit his own shortcomings as a father and spouse.
Well thats your opinion. But then you say "you mean Clementine." Thats his opinion, you dont need to tell him its not
all the kids
Kenny's boat was the biggest and only important loss I don't even know why you mention the other loses I mean... he lost his boat
R.I.P Boat
Ok...? It's just my opinion, there's no need to try to make an argument out of it. Kenny has the personality of someone who has been through 10X more than Clem
IMO
well said
Kind of fitting for both deaths since walker blood is definitley cold too :P
No argument, just stating a counter-point to yours.
Kenny gets too much entitlement as being the one in the franchise whose been through "the most" which isn't true, at all. Every loss he's endured was due somewhat to his own negligence. Not saying it was solely his fault, but he didn't help with preventing any of his families death. He straight up gets Walter and determinedly Alvin killed almost directly cause of his reckless actions, yet people say Clementine and the cabin group had a hand? As if he isn't to blame.
Every bad thing Kenny's been through was somewhat due to him not being there when the shit hit the fan, or not listening to anyone.
IMO
Lee, Clementine, Kenny, Ben, Nick, Luke
Clementine has lost her parents, her surrogate father figure, Christa, Luke, and practically every single character in the game. She's been present for 70% of the deaths that have occurred in the entire game. She never even got to see her parents prior to their death, and her last ever conversation with them was over the phone. Then she played an indirect role in the deaths of two of her guardians (Lee and Omid), and it's obvious that she holds a lot of guilt over it. She is also potentially responsible for causing the deaths, directly or indirectly, of various other characters: Nick, Alvin, Reggie, Sarita, Sarah, Luke, Bonnie, Kenny, Jane, etc.
Ben's entire character/story is depressing. To put it in perspective, Ben's seen happy/smiling even less than Clementine. Never got to see his family after the outbreak, witnesses all of his classmates and friends die, ends up being the last guy of his original group, has a string of screw-ups and bad luck which ends up indirectly causing the deaths of various members of his new group, including that of a child, sinks into a state of depression and self-loathing over the guilt of these actions, and pretty much comes to see himself as a complete burden to the people around him. On top of that, he potentially dies with his group either hating him or being against him. And even if he does survive, he ultimately dies anyways due to complete chance. I honestly found Ben to be one the single most depressing characters I have ever seen.
Lee and Nick are similar in that they suffered even prior to the apocalypse. Lee's life went to hell, he never got to reconcile with his family, and his life was practically over when we first met him. Nick had to deal with a drunk and potentially abusive dad, and obviously has a fair amount of self-esteem issues and insecurities.
Lee has to learn his family is dead before he ever got to see them again, has to put down his own brother, and then has to take up the burdens of being one of the group's leaders/strong-arms. And he also potentially has to shoot a kid, and then a zombie kid that is very reminiscent of the other kid he shot one day ago.
Nick has to put down his own mother, and then either watches his uncle, who is essentially his father-figure, get devoured right in front of him, or stumbles across him disemboweled and mangled in a forest. He never even gets to say good-bye to him in either, and his last conversation with him amounted to calling him an asshole and brushing him off.
Kenny has gone through a fair amount of torture. I'd argue that losing your own son is a pain that is far beyond that of losing a parent, relative, or friend. There's not much worse than knowing that you failed your natural obligation as a parent, and that your kid is dying in such a way that you can't do one damn thing about it other than watch it happen. To top it off, you have to find your wife dead, or watch her kill herself right in front of you. Then you lose the only other person since then that you've managed to grow close to, in a very similar fashion to the way your family died. Compound all of that with his determinant death: you end up dying, believing the baby (which you decided to take care of out of guilt of both the death of your family, and because you played a role in the death of the baby's father) to be dead, and you're shot by the only other person left in the world that you cared about.
Luke lost his parents, his best friend, and 6 other people that he has survived with for months over the course of 2 weeks. Then he gets shot, and dies in one of the worst ways you can.
All right, I'm done. It wasn't a "counter-point", you were being immature and not respecting opinions. I'm done, so have a good day.
AJ's been through some crazy shit he won't even remember.
Yes it was a counter-point. Plain and simple, I'm sorry if I upset you. I just don't see how Kenny has suffered the most.
That's all I say, cause all that's going to happen is circles are going to be ran and I don't much feel like turning this into an argument.
I apologize if I offended, I just don't see it.
I think Lee has the saddest story. He finds a little girl and he decides to make his job to protect her, but in the end Clem ran away which leads to him getting killed trying to save her.
The stranger had it pretty rough. I know he sucks, and I personally loved watching the light go out of his eyes. But, I can't even fathom what he had been through. Losing your son in the woods has got to run you through the mill emotionally. The not knowing if he's alive or not, then having to cut your losses because you have other people to protect. Then finding your wife and daughter torn to pieces on the side of the road. I wonder what it was for him to not put a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger, right then and there. It took Eugene(tv) and his mission to save Abraham.
I actually agree with comment more than anything lol.
