Hopefully season 3 isn't a disaster
whenever it comes out... after season 2 the story has been ruined... i hope they can fix it or come back to the realness and emotion season 1 had but i'm pretty sure the damage is irreconcilable... season 2 RIP

Maybe for you it was a disappointment, but for me, Season 2 was fantastic, almost as good as Season 1, and I am looking forward to Season 3.
K.
Yeah, disaster is a strong word. It had it's faults and I hope telltale takes it as constructive criticism which they can take on board to make season 3 better.
I think Season 2 was amazing, I personally think that making the decisions matter a bit more would've been great but too much would've made the story less captivating, for me at least. I think that the first two seasons of TWD was showing us how your decisions can matter but in the end they may not, but sometimes your decisions can't matter for there to be a story however in the end you can change the outcome of your journey
come on man sure season 2 had its flaws but you are over exaggerating it could have been a whole lot worse
Only thing I disliked was the rather pointless deaths but hey, people just die, you can't expect everyone to meet their end in a hero fashion. RIP Sarah and Nick.
I wouldn't call Season 2 a disaster. I personally really enjoyed it. Yes, of course it had some flaws but it takes good constructive criticism to improve rather than over exaggerating.
every one in this forum has the right to voice their opinion, i wont use the word ''Disaster'' but i would use ''Wasted/Disappointing'' because i liked S2 but there was so much wasted characters or wasted one's like 'Nick/Carver'' situation.. Nick had a great story and i wish he would have fled and maybe comes back for season 3 like kenny was. and carver was a fleshed out villian who went wrong. i think he was a typical villian and was ''meh'' of character that had so much potential and possible depth... but hey what can you do? i hope season 3 take care of its characters and not just killing them for the sake of shock value, i hope i see complex characters like season 1. that not all of them die for no reason (sarah) yeah, i would talk forever but i hope they dont waste characters for the sake of shock value, maybe making them more complex like season 1.
Season 2's maximum potential was not brought out and then exploited as it could have and should have. It had a vast number of wasted characters with potential. Still was a pretty decent plot overall, however executed in a feeble manner and some characters like Kenny should not have been returned without a thorough explanation as to how versus the vague lame explanation that was provided. Season 2 needed a lot when you sit back and think about it.. Longer episode play times in combination with genius level gifted writers would have been a start. Great things about season 2 were the enhanced graphics compared to season 1 and the musical score was not bad. Except I didn't like the end credits music in all the episodes except episode number 3. So I'm not getting my hopes up far as quality goes with season 3. But I'm hoping they've learned from all the mistakes of season 2. If not then season 3 will most likely be on par with 2 or even worse and inferior to season 2 as they can never match season 1 at this point I believe.
Season 1 had plenty of problems as well, I just wish they hadnt left clementine alone AGAIN. Now at least one whole episode will be meeting a new group etc and everything that comes with it, leaving a small group to continue into season 3 would have been great, I mean I just dont understand while they feel they have to kill all the cast before the final episode it doesnt add any drama (at least in episode 5).
Can you please point out those "plenty of problems"? and compare them to see if they even come close to any of the Season 2 problems?
Season 1 was amazing! they tried to hard with Season 2 and was more unrealisistic, kenny's comeback, a eleven year old that does everything in the group, adults listening to Clem as she was the leader? Don't get me wrong i don't hate Clem but they should've never maked her the protoganist also the scenery was very boring in Season 2, it was, woods, woods, a cabin, a ski lodge, a mall, woods, a museum, woods, woods and snowy woods, in Season 1 you got: Town, motel, farm, train, city, It was much better!
actually they didn't try at all.
this always makes me laugh
There are problems yes. Back when Season 1 was released people were complaining as much about it as they are complaining about Season 2 now. That will happen with Season 3 as well, and when it comes out Season 2's problems will fade into obscurity. I can bet you on that.
If you want to see some of those issues check out GamingSins, or just check old discussions. I don't watch his videos on a regular basis, only watched the one about TWD. While some things there are just plain nitpicking, some of them are true.
Couldn't disagree anymore....um with S2 being a disaster not S3. Freakin trolls.
The only way season 3 will be disappointing for me is if endings don't matter
The more I look back at Season 2, the more it feels like I'm watching a movie rather than playing a game that's tailored by choices. What made Season 1 really great was the writing put into the characters and their relationships with Lee. The writers for Season 2 didn't reflect this at all. It made some attempts with Luke and Kenny, but ultimately, every character was written with only one personality and set of dialog. If Telltale has got anything to improve on the most for Season 3, I would say it's the characters and our interactions with them. And also some choices that alter the story and makes players go through different series of events before the ending of an episode. I don't believe there's irreconcilable damage done. Season 3 has got the opportunity to be phenomenal.
"Choices matter" XD
Thats where the series fall appart.
Season 1 we could understand, small company and what not.
But season 2 total lack of it.
Blah
Mark and Chuck just get wasted and die offscreen, heck like the start of ep 5 season 2 mark is just randomly added
Characters change personality plenty, Kenny goes from being stable, to crazy in episode 2 and 3 then nice enough in ep 4 and then a hero in ep 5. Just like season 2 characters
Choice doesnt matter just like season 2, except we dont even get multiple endings
Characters have random changes of heart. Ala Vernon etc.
I'm not saying season 2 doesnt have plenty of problems and frankly I expected them to improve or find their footing more with season 2 however people who go on and on like season 1 was perfect are just daft it wasnt there were plenty of faults with both seasons if you go digging.
Also as much as you hate season 2 can you give me some examples of things you hate about season 2 and i'll try and find a season 1 comparison?
I wouldn't say Season 2 is a disaster, I just personally didn't like it as much as Season 1. Hopefully Season 3 can live up to the expectations.
I didn't like Season 2. I won't defend it but I would like to say A House Divided despite it's flaws was great and one of my favorites. I can see your point the writers didn't work well imo and at times they had no idea what they were doing. I don't think Breckon should be head of the writing team he's still valuable especially when it comes to writing scenes like Clementine and Carver back at the cabin and would be useful in some instances but deffinitley not as the head writer I think Telltale should reach out to someone more professional than Vanaman's friend. I'd like a writer who fills in the cracks and goes into more detail. Season 3 should work on this
This is beautiful.
People say season 2 is ruined.
Most of them say this because they don't like what happend to Clementine: "The transition is too much for me!" "Why doesn't she show emotion?!" "Clementine is autistic!" "They shouldn't threat Clementine as an adult!" "Why does she has to do everything?!" I can agree with the last quote. well partly. For example: that moment where Clementine had to stop the wind turbine because Carlos wasn't able to. but other than that, Clementine was used for her size, weight and "innocency" mostly.
If you say it's ruined because in episode 5 the two russian swapped weapons and people didn't die as they were supposed to, then yeah sure. Telltale messed up. but think about all the hints you were given. Just so it isn't out of the picture: everything you witnessed could be an illusion within the game. but most likely isn't.
I personally loved S2, and have high expectations for S3.
EDIT:Changed hopes into expectations, because that's what I meant.
Technically in comparison to S2, S1 is perfect and has a lot of things S2 severely lacks.
Just the way it is for people who hate S2.
Not really, considering season 1 to be perfect compared to season 2 would clearly be ignoring the flaws that season 1 had.
After season 2, the story has not been ruined. Sure, it was a little disappointing in parts, but, overall it was a pretty good season, especially the finale. I think Telltale will learn from its mistakes and make a better season 3.
Yes really, and I'm not really ignoring the flaws, it just had better written characters, story, and drama in my eyes. Plenty have already mentioned the flaws with S1 but still acknowledge that S2 has worse issues.
both great characters that left an impact on the group and Clem, how were they wasted? Do you even understand what you're saying?
wat
WOW CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS A BAD THING WOW KENNY LOSES HIS FAMILY AND GETS MAD OMG THATS A WRITER'S PROBLEM, let me ask again, Do you even understand what you're saying?
Season 1 has more branching that changes a couple of things whereas in Season 2 no matter if you wait or go a couple of days later the same exact thing happens. Multiple endings aren't even a good thing at this point of the story.
How is this a problem? If people backstab you then that's a problem with the entire game? Do you even understand what you're saying?
I'm not even gonna bother anymore, your perception of what's good and bad is completely twisted.
Well... they said that "choices matter". They never said WHAT choices. Big ones or the small ones.
If they're considering this things as a mistakes then yes. If not then... well, you know.
Y’know, I’ve been avoiding the forums more and more lately simply cuz I feel talking about Season 2 is just not worth the time or effort. But I really have to disagree with anyone who thinks Season 1’s flaws even came close to being as bad as Season 2’s.
At least Mark’s character was done some justice. He was admittedly introduced just to die, but he was handled pretty respectfully for such a minor character. People reacted to his death appropriately, he was given a decent amount of screen time before his death, he actually did something in the plot, even after he died.
As for Chuck, I agree that the writer’s basically forgot about him, but at least it made sense that his death had so little impact on anyone. He was basically the homeless stranger the group knew for only a day. Sure, he saved Clem, but Lee knew him so little that his respectful “you deserved better, old man” seemed like a sufficient response to Chuck’s death.
Meanwhile, Sarah and Nick were built up to be integral members of the cabin group. Luke was Nick’s best friend for 20 years, Sarah was a fucking child and both Rebecca and Luke were shown to care for her. You would think that the group would’ve acknowledged their horrible deaths a little more than basically not at all.
It’s quite telling that Lee shows more emotion over the death of some random hobo than Luke does for his lifelong best friend.
Season 1 Kenny had every reason in the world to go through the changes he did. As did Lilly when she went nuts, as did Katjaa when she lost faith in her husband and became suicidal, as did Molly when she started to grow out of her lone wolf mentality. Hell, even Vernon had good reason to turn on the group; people forget too easily that Ben and Kenny essentially got Brie killed horribly because of their idiocy. The characters developed believably and with justification. Kenny didn’t simply become crazy to nice to heroic because he felt like it.
Contrast with Rebecca, who apparently forgets Clem ever blackmailed her, or Mike who is completely fine with letting a baby die despite being the only adult concerned for Clem’s safety in Episode 3, or Jane whose portrayal as a smart and cautious survivor is instantly obliterated with her absurdly idiotic plan to fake AJ’s death. Characters change to meet the needs of the plot, with little to no justification.
And let’s not even get into how Kenny goes through the exact same character arc in Season 2.
Choice don’t really matter in Season 1, sure, but they were certainly integrated into the story far better than they were in Season 2. The Carley/Doug choice actually has a dramatic effect on how certain characters are portrayed (e,g. Larry & Lilly are far more sympathetic with Doug around), and the Ben choice has a huge impact on the course of Kenny’s development.
Most importantly, the impact of choices are felt all throughout Season 1, what with characters constantly brining up Lee’s past actions and relationships changing to some degree to accommodate those actions. Meanwhile, the impact of Season 2’s choices is barely noticeable outside of the last 20 minutes of the season. I’d take 5 episodes of variance and continuity over 20 minutes of multiple endings any day.
Yeah, already went over this.
And here is where I completely agree with you. Yes, I was really expecting Telltale to address the previous season's flaws instead of making them exponentially larger. Yes, Season 1 had plenty of flaws, and it definitely wasn’t perfect. And I can even understand why some people like Season 2 in spite of its flaws. But I still find the idea that Season 1’s flaws are even comparable to Season 2’s completely ridiculous.
Oh god, please don’t get me started… :P
Why is it absolutely impossible for this forum to go just one fucking day without another thread about S2 being terrible
Christ, I'd rather take a bunch of threads kissing S1's ass over another S2 thread at this point
I think you're aasking a bit too much their friend.
And Nick and Sarah didnt? I mean Chuck is never mentioned ever again, Lee doesnt even tell the others, Mark isnt mentioned ever again ever, not even kat who he ended up saving but she got a camera!
Great comeback.
Kenny in episode 1 is friendly, From the start of episode 2 he is moody however like most people Kenny was friednly yet after one brief thing in the meat locker its like Lee's satan or something or oppositley if Lee tried to throw duck to the walkers Kenny is now his bestie after smashing an old mans head in.
To answer you caps locked stuck opening I'm just bringing up things that have been used to criticise season 2 and show they were also present in season1.
Examples? I guess your right in that clem got a nice hoodie, And I did like Carley/Doug and Ben but non were long term. I mean even red hoodie dies offscreen and gets replaced by a horrid blue hoodie knockoff
Again a regular criticisms thrown at season 2.
But you didnt even answer my initial question, what is a criticism that you have with season 2 that cannot be found in season 1? To reiterate I liked both seasons and felt there were improvements to be made on each, and like I said I expected season 2 with the noteritery the company had gained they would do a better job with choice etc. I also went into each episode with a positive outlook (even after the appauling in harms way) which may have lead to my enjoyment
All I really want is for TellTale to be creative with Clementine's character again. I don't want a No Going Back Clementine, I want a All That Remains Clementine.
A character rich with detail and conflicting morals shaping her to be someone who is as vulnerable as she is badass. I want Clementine to actually partake in actions that make me personally uncomfortable sometimes, she is a survivor after all. Have her be a little bad sometimes, have her be enduring too. Let her rob, kill, and lie to people. I'm so tired of people and TT too in large part thinking Clementine has to be some goodie-goodie two shoes, what you're doing is robbing her and relegating her character when you make her just some sub-servant feeble non-entity and soiling a lot of interest she could have.
Have her develop through the course of the game. Have the outcome and consequences of situations weigh her input as a person and her dialogue. That's how TT can pull Clementine out of the fire yet.
And for the love of tacos, write a story and stick with it so that we don't have a disappearing town or a complete shift of character identities and tones. Keep it consistent.
Just have a little more patience for Season 3. Many will proceed to hate on that instead. It's the new fad.

Alright then
