He did nothing though. He hardly contributed to the group at all. He only cared for himself, he got Carley killed cos he didn't speak up and take the blame. He could've easily saved Clem but Chuck sacrificed himself for her.
Ben definitely wasn't a pointless character. He had an impact on season 1 by dealing with the bandits and getting Carley/Doug, Duck, Katjaa and Chuck killed, and deciding his fate at the end of episode 4 also affects Kenny's fate since if you drop him, Kenny will try to save Christa and if you save him, Ben will stand up to Kenny, Kenny will forgive him and try to save him. Ben was a big character in season 1 despite being a liability.
Reggie on the other hand, was only in like 2 or 3 scenes and din't have that much of an impact aside from being another victim of Carver's.
Ben's death was quite disheartening but nevertheless, it did get quite annoying that so many survivors of the group died due to him. All I'm trying to say is that if Ben had been killed off or left the group in a previous episode/episodes, then maybe more of the survivors would've had a better chance of survival

True, but then again, the same thing can be said about others like if the group decided to leave the motor inn earlier after coming back from the St Johns and learning that the bandits are gonna come after them now that the St Johns are gone, Ben wouldn't of made the deal with the bandits and Lilly, Carley/Doug, Katjaa and Duck would still be around, if Clem din't talk with the Stranger than Lee and Ben would still be around and Kenny would still be with the group, if Carver wasn't an asshole then he along with the cabin group would still be alive and etc etc. There are many things in the series that should of been prevented and thus many people would still be alive but then again, the Walking Dead wouldn't be such an awesome game if all of those events were prevented.

Pointless as in contributed little to no positive effects to the group and ended up indirectly causing many problems for everyone? Ben wins the vote.
Pointless as in made no impact to the story, could have easily been written out, and serves only as a prop to expand another character's already established role? Reggie win the vote.
Reggie's sole point was to show people that cutting off the arm does work for the end Sarita choice. Otherwise many people might not have as they think due to Lee it would not work

I guess so lol, The Walking Dead can be a very unpredictable game when it comes to tense moments and key aspects throughout both seasons and this gives more enjoyment for the gamer as it can be very difficult to predict what will happen in the aftermath of events

Ben wasn't a useless character at all, he was the cause for many of the major turns in the storyline. Reggie, on the other hand, was definitely the most pointless character in the whole series imo.
Ben is by no means pointless. He is arguably one of the more important character of the season, because his actions and characters drives the plot forward.
Um... Ben was useless, he wasn't pointless, so I'll go Reggie. He was also important, but less so. If you want to talk about pointless characters... Ralph... yeah...
Apart from what @Firewallcano said, Reggie was the petty character who was left behind and compeletly forgotten after the group succesfully escaped. What happened to him, explained Carver's ideology about giving everyone the second chance. It shows how charismatic and astute Carver really was (many call him undeveloped or disappointing), and how Carver actually made Reggie believe that the others were foolish to oppose his leadership. He even made Reggie respect and admire him. I'm one of the few who think that Reggie's disability is simply the punishment for CG's escape. Reggie's character represented the weak, helpless ones forced to live in the apocalipse, ones who can be easily tricked, cheated and entirely changed by the world and the spoiled people.

Honestly, Ben was one of the most important and crucial characters to story and progression of S1
Sure, most of his contributions were causing problems, but that's the whole point; those mistakes progressed the story forwards. I mean, Ben was more than half the reason that the back-half of the season even happened in the first place. Without him, there wouldn't be much of a story to tell beyond the first two episodes.
Couple that with him being an interesting character (especially since he's the odd man out/black sheep of the group), as well as being one of the best written characters of the season, and you can't really be calling him pointless.
Reggie's character in comparison, wasn't as important or crucial to the progression of the story as Ben. One key purpose is to serve as character building for the character of Carver. Through him, we learn more about who Carver is. He also serves a joint purpose of reinforcing the concept of amputation, and that it can indeed work (even though it's still handled kind of poorly. What would have been a better way to prove this would be to have a member of Carver's group get bitten right in front of us, and we watch the subsequent amputation play out).
The only problem is, despite his role in strengthening Carver's character and proving a concept, neither of them come to much fruition. Carver dies by the end of the episode, and his camp gets completely run over along with the inhabitants, and the impromptu amputation we attempt turns out to be in vain (although this one is rather clever when you think about it. I'm willing to bet that Reggie's existence is the prime reason that most people tried to cut off the arm)
Reggie didn't do anything. He didn't influence anything nor move the storyline along. His only purpose was to die so we could see something we already suspected that Carver was an evil psychopath. I didn't care that much when he died.
Ben on the other hand is the whole reason why we had a game past Episode 2. He's complex. He was only trying to help, but he ended up causing most of the problems the group has to face. His relationship was Kenny was one thing I liked to watch and I loved the way he can stand up to Kenny in Episode 5, because Kenny finally forgives him and it repairs their broken relationship to a degree that Kenny can finally accept just how broken Ben was at that point. His death was tragic and I felt bad for the poor guy.
How he hell is Ben pointless? He was portrayed greatly of how a person like Ben can get manipulated by people when in desperation. He advanced the plot significantly and we can't blame him for getting Carley/Doug killed, or Kat and Duck. The poor boy was manipulated for goodness sake.
If you're talking who was actually pointless, who had no purpose in the story then that would probably go to Reggie. Only thing he did was just show off Carver's ideology.
Ben on the other hand wasn't pointless, he pretty caused the entire group to fall apart because of his dealing with the bandits.
Reggie, he took a small role, even though...I feel sad for him. Ben wasn't that pointless,he was half-interesting and did a good job on those epsiodes, he just made mistakes

He made mistakes therefore his characters pointless?

Reggie, Ben wasn't useless at all, he was a contributing and major character of the group.
It was quite funny when Carver just casually shoved him off the building xD

Ben was not pointless. He had quite a bit of story.
That's a really good point, I've never thought about it in that way
I guess so lol, The Walking Dead can be a very unpredictable game when it comes to tense moments and key aspects throughout both seasons and this gives more enjoyment for the gamer as it can be very difficult to predict what will happen in the aftermath of events
Both were important.
I can now maybe see some point of view that Ben is quite important, but Reggie, I really don't think so
Ben wasn't a useless character at all, he was the cause for many of the major turns in the storyline. Reggie, on the other hand, was definitely the most pointless character in the whole series imo.
I am picking Reggie.
Ben is by no means pointless. He is arguably one of the more important character of the season, because his actions and characters drives the plot forward.
Ben wasn't pointless in any way shape or form
Um... Ben was useless, he wasn't pointless, so I'll go Reggie. He was also important, but less so. If you want to talk about pointless characters... Ralph... yeah...

Ben was one of the biggest and best written characters in the entire first Season. So yeah, he's far from pointless.
No such thing as small roles, only small actors...er in this case voice actors.
who was Ralph again? lol sorry can't really remember him too well
Exactly haha. He was the third scavenger in the woods with Christa. Winston chased after Clem. Victor showed up at the river. Ralph...
Ben was a perfect character. Sometimes you need a character that screws up all the time so it can be a running gag
Ralph was originally intended to be Mike.
But he pretty much was there for that once scene.
If I were to choose outside the choices, that'd prolly be Kenny.
But I'd pick neither, both were important to the story.
It would have been better if it was Mike lol but it wasn't.

Because writing happened.
Truer words have never been spoken.
R u cereal wit dis?

Ben responsible for the death of Carley, Katja and Duck. how on earth he can be pointless.

Ben on the other hand wasn't pointless, he pretty caused the entire group to fall apart because of his dealing with the bandits.
Why not Reggie? He was completely useless in Season 2. He was never special.
Reggie. Reggie was only there to act like the 'nice guy' so when he got killed it would give us a darker image of Carver.
Um Ben had a purpose... why is this even a question. Ben was a good character Reggie was a trash one
Reggie, he took a small role, even though...I feel sad for him. Ben wasn't that pointless,he was half-interesting and did a good job on those epsiodes, he just made mistakes
He killed Kenny's family (Ben)
