Ok, so an explanation if you really want it, but feel free not to read if it's too boring XP
So binary is the basis of computer code, whe… morere 1 = on and 0 = off. It comes in sets of 8, a series of 1s or 0s. Each on/off represents a number, and you add the numbers together to get a total. The numbers are in this order:
Pos.8/Pos.7/Pos.6/Pos.5/Pos.4/Pos.3/Pos.2/Pos.1 ----> 128/64/32/16/8/4/2/1
So if you get this number in binary:
00100101
Positions 6,3 and 1 are in the on (1) position, meaning you add up the numbers in those positions (32 + 4 + 1). You ignore positions 8, 7, 5, 4 and 2 because they are in the off (0) position. You get a total decimal number of 37.
The theory is basically the same for the alphabet. A=1, so A would be 00000001. B=2, so be would be 00000010. Y=25, so Y would be 00011001. The reason I said you can knock of the first three zeros - or positions - is that they are numbers 128, 64 and 32. The alphabe… [view original content]
