I agree, it's an amazing shot. Both in terms of cinematics and by Clementine.

Season 1 Kenny by a mile. I only started disliking him when he refused to save clementine because he didn't like Lee. So for most of season 1 I thought he was alright.

  • He initially refused to help Lee save Clementine in the majority of playthroughs.

An asshole. Did you forgot S1 E4! "You've always been there for me Lee, always had my back when it mattered. What kind of friend would I be if I wasn't there for you now? You and Clementine are the only family I got left, I'm with you to the end."

It's also interesting (and pretty disappointing...) that this is really the only ending that seems to portray Clem as even slightly disliking Kenny. She actually looks super pissed off at Kenny right before she shoots him.

  • Yeah.

In most endings she seems to have much more emotional attachment to a man she's talked with for 2 days than a woman who protected her for 16 months. Pretty lame writing.

Except when it leads to bullying and racial slurs, of course. Which happens several times.

I started quickly dissolving my strongly positive impressions of him when he slaughtered an unconscious father in front of his daughter and then hid in a stable waiting for Lee to die. And of course this happens not once, not twice, but three times through the course of episode two and three. But I just kept myself away from him and found myself detaching from him as a friend. But whatever, right?

Then, we have A Long Road Ahead. The episode in which he called Clementine a "sham" to me because I was trying to get him to stop the train. That did it for me, after that I didn't give a fuck about his suffering and I did beat the shit out of him for that reason alone. Everything after that was one misstep after another, shoving my opinion of him further and further downwards... And season 2, good God.

What a shithead Kenny is, I can't stand him.

I would've been able to show forgiveness if not for the actions subsequent to the incident. He apologizes to Lilly once, and that was most likely out of sheer shock of his own deed. He then immediately turns on Lee and is angrily defensive over everyone's rightful distaste of his action. He hides in a stall while a cannibal has Lee held up and is most definitely ready to kill him, at that moment I realized Kenny couldn't have cared all too much for his family's safety if he's willing to let more people die on his watch making it harder for him to achieve the very thing he so strongly advocates for, rescuing his family.

Of course, we haven't even gotten to him sneering at Lilly's sorrowful rebuttal when Kenny happily exclaims that there's free supplies. And the constant bullying and head-butting he did with her really showed he has no respect for anyone other than his family. He's selfish.

And he later on still refuses to aid Lee in the drug store not once but twice when Lee is attacked.

And I agree with the refusal to save Clementine, mainly because he had no motive other than petty indifference. It wasn't like his leg was injured like another individual or was pregnant. No, he just didn't feel like helping a girl who had done nothing to harm him... doubl- neigh, triple fuck him for that.

Kenny was with you in Season 1, was the closest person to you (through a forced plot) in Season 2. It can make sense why she still has emotional attachment to him.

Well, I think Omid and her baby dying was definitely for worse, and she still took good care of her. Clementine looked healthy and nourished even after the sixteen month time skip, more so than a worn down and almost sickly looking Christa.

She did care for Clementine, even she was somewhat crass toward Clementine's comments regarding Omid. Big whoop. What I find weird is that Kenny is somehow justified in screaming a string of hateful obscenities at Clementine, but God forbid Christa tells Clementine anything even slightly resembling any negative tone.

Yeah Kenny does have the worst excuse for not helping.

Omid - His leg's busted but even if Christa doesn't want to trust Lee, he still wants to go.

Christa - She thinks it's too hard to trust you (and might partially be due to her pregnancy)

Ben - He's either dead or he doesn't want to screw everything up/get anyone else killed.

Really? You think just because the only dialogue we see between Christa and Clementine is her talking about building a fire and stuff that's all their relationship was like? Yeah, I'm sure as soon as Omid was murdered with Clem's gun, Christa was like "its k Clem, let's go make sure you know how to make a fire."

For someone to still have something, they must have it in the first place.

Kenny and Clementine don't even exchange words in season 1. And in the majority of playthroughs he initially refuses to save her purely because he doesn't like Lee, and is only convinced if Lee says she's her family, while all he should base it on is the fact that she's a little girl and she needs to be saved.

So because you think something conspired, it's canon? I don't deny Christa was angry at Clementine directly after Omid's death. But what we see in the sixteen month time skip is a healthy young girl who is very much intact and looks quite nourished. No lacerations, bruises, any broken bones. She was taken good care of, obviously. Within the few days she was hanging around with Kenny, she's been hit, shot, almost killed countless times, almost froze, all part to him being a shitty caretaker. What does Christa say to the bandits when they demand she tell them who's she with? Nothing, she tells them fuck all. Obviously, she has some connection to her if she's willing to not give up Clementine even thinking she wasn't there.

Kenny did put her in that position in the first place by forcing her to take the radio regardless of your choice, because she was apparently the best person to be given the task to smuggle a radio to Luke according to Kenny. What if Kenny wasn't around to own up for the radio had she been caught? Clementine would have probably received the same punishment.

Maybe not Carver, but Troy would have been happy to take the task since he can potentially smash Clementine's face with the butt of the rifle if she tries to intervene with Kenny's beating.

Just because Carver likes her (in his own twisted way) doesn't mean that his henchmen shares his opinion.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I don't recall Troy getting punished for knocking Carver's new 'friend' unconscious, in spite of appreciating her spirit. You'd think that Carver would not let that slide.

No doubt the cabin group weren't the brightest of people. But between Kenny constantly pushing Clementine to enact in risky operations such as snatching walkies by her lonesome and him straight up ignoring Clementine as she was slowly freezing to death, I'd say he wasn't really a very good person to watch over a young child.

And Kenny hasn't done similar things? Blame himself for the radio so Carver hurts him instead of Clem, practically sacrifice his life so Clem can live in Wellington?

Clem wasn't anywhere near Wellington, she was in the same shit pile he was in. The only reason his ass got beat down was cause of his constant acts of defiance toward him. Killing one of Carver's own men, determinately injuring Carver, then starting a fight with Mike which resulting in an entry point being exposed, and finally as far as Carver knew, stealing property from him... all within the first 48 hours of his "arrival." That's why he was beaten, I know for a fact after all that shit Carver said to Clem, he wouldn't have done anything near that level to her.

    Really

how did this comment that was originally about the cinematography of Kenny getting shot manage to blossom into yet another full scale argument over some bullshit yet again

    why

Arguments pertaining to Kenny on either side are creating far more problems than they're fixing

I saw that "now you know how we feel" comment just up there, and I can't help but be reminded of another internet shitstorm that happened not that long ago: Bronies.

It started out with that fanbase gushing all over the place. Pony-related stuff everywhere you went. Slowly but surely, it pissed everyone off, just as you'd expect.

Then over time, the hate started to overshadow the love. Every time something pony-related came up, that opinion would be immediately shit on, and the person shunned by everyone else. That same set of words was also used as a justification, "now you know how the rest of us felt"

And that's when people started realizing something: both sides were starting to become major annoyances that had an equal amount of negative impact upon communities as a whole. The problem is still there and it still sparks arguments, but for the most part, people have moved on, as they realized that the more ridicule and vitriol that was flung about just made the whole situation worse.

Which brings me to my point: this is exactly what all the Kenny controversy is heading towards. It's practically being reenacted to a T. The sooner this place learns to move past it, the better it will be for everyone. Luckily, Kenny's determinant now which definitely helps stamp out some of the fire. Even as someone who actually likes Kenny*, I almost want him dead and gone solely so everyone can just shut up about him for once.

I am absolutely sick of both sides of this. I'm sick of seeing that fucking 'secret ending' posted all over, and all of the idolizing about him and those old "Kenny is god" posts, and I was sick of that stuff since the beginning pretty much. And now I'm sick of that fucking gif of him getting shot and all the other anti-Kenny stuff going on. People want some time in the limelight after all of the oppression they've faced at the hands of the Kenny fanbase, fair enough. Too bad that it's practically turning into the same monster the Kenny fanbase was. The same problems that existed then are still here. People like me, people situated more in the middle, we feel just like they did, and now we're forced to suffer through that same feeling again as the anti-Kenny fanbase gets their time to shine and get a small dose of revenge out of it. I'm sick of it all and I wish it would just stop, but everyone inadvertently keeps forwarding the problem. Maybe I'm helping forward it just by making this post/rant, which just further reinforces how bad this has all gotten.

*While I do like Kenny, I'm not overstated about it at all. I like him, and that's where the discussion ends. I'm not gonna start arguments and argue against someone that thinks otherwise. If I was situated on a love-hate spectrum, I'd be in the middle, trying to distance myself from both extreme sides of the spectrum, which is sort of what this rant is doing.
