Just a little Theory on what we will get before Season 3

edited May 2015 in The Walking Dead

So, now that DLC for Season 2 is basically confirmed, I think we should all share what it might be. Personally, because Job said, "You might be playing more than you think" and "bigger than 400 days" it gives me a strange feeling that there will be multiple Dlcs. Doing this could be very interesting. For example, Telltale could release multiple whole new bonus episode for 5 dollars that focuses on one story for that episode, unlike 400 days which only had about 15-20 min longer stories all in one. If Telltale decided to make bonus episodes like this, it could create some very interesting new stories. Also, this could give Telltale a chance to do some of the asked for Dlcs like Kenny escaping Savannah, 16 Months with Christa, and the Cabin Group.

  • I missed this threads about theory "TWD" :)

    Thanks Poogers ;)

  • I still think it could be an ending DLC.

You might be playing more than you think

For those who have multiple save slots and have different endings, if it's an ending DLC, they can play it up to 4 times.

    bigger than 400 days

It could mean bigger as in more important and relevant to the plot, which gives further indication to it being about your endings.

  • My theory is it's going to show us how Clem becomes the leader of Wellington based on the fact she's a kid.

  • Nothing about Clementine please

  • I'd like it to be about Lilly and what she did after she was abandoned in series one. Perhaps tying it into Wellington with her being a large part of its development.

  • Anything like Kenny's "very lucky" moment

  • I thought it was more realistic that he survived if you chose the abandoned building route rather than the alleyway.

I have a fear that if it's a Kenny DLC we'll see a scene where he's in that alley, fighting them off, when he suddenly looks around and goes. "A door. Hmm. I never saw that there before."

Or maybe he fell down a manhole.

  • i sort of fear it will just be something that ties every possible ending of season 2 into one outcome.

i would like either a bigger 400 days (multiple stories of new people) or maybe backstory short stories for people, like jane and her sister, kenny being found by sarita, the cabin group escape from carver, and crista caring for clementine

  • I don't think the DLC should involve anything like those "16 months" or those "9 days" because then I don't think it'd affect season 3 that much. I think if Telltale can try to incorporate a spin off and somehow work them into Clem's story, that'd be the way to go. Even though they tried to do that with 400 Days and failed, they could try to just have the DLC based on one central, spinoff story instead of 5 different small ones, and work the spinoff characters into Season 3

  • And to me, any plot holes, like how Kenny got out of there alive, are kinda irrelevant to how season 3 will go which is why they should go this route

  • But theres only one ending where she ends up at Wellington.

  • I agree with @Poogers555 but I think it would be more like a few episodes revolving around one story.

  • 3month dlc would be awesome. the timeskip were they are at the motor end to saint john. the only thing they mention about the time skip was that they were at a airforce base to save mark.

  • I don't think it will be flashback DLC. It just doesn't seem like Telltale's thing to do.

I think that it might be a tie in DLC that compilates the different endings from the main game and leads them in a singular direction that they can go from when making Season 3.

  • Doesn't mean she won't arrive there during the DLC.

  • What would be the point of having only one ending where Clem and AJ end up at Wellington if in all endings they'll end up there anyway? It doesn't make any sense.

  • So they don't have to do five different episodes of S3 EP1
And neither did the final choice of Among the Ruins where you either wait a day or leave in the morning and Jane is still in the area by next episode.

  • S3 will most likely be set after the endings of S2. We're talking full on endings here not minor choices. Ending up at Wellington if you chose a different ending would be like choosing to go to Japan and then somehow end up New Zealand.

  • That's why we have DLC, so we all end up at Wellington.

Ending one. You're at Wellington anyway so woopy doo.

Ending two. Kenny dies and you go to Welington or are found by the group and are there in time for season 3.

Ending three. Wellington group are scouting for survivors and find Clem and Jane and we end up at Wellington.

Ending four: Clem is alone with Avin Jr and she meets a group of survivors who bring her to Wellington/she finds wellington herself.

    And so on.

  • Then why not have all endings end up at Wellington? Another big reason why they shouldn't and most likely won't do this is it would make the emotional and difficult choice of leaving Kenny to stay at Wellington or leave with Kenny absolutely pointless and ruin it.

  • Good shout. The only way I can see Telltale tackling a 'back in time' storyline is if it then ties into future events (season 3).

Well chances are because of this being a linear game (GRRRRR hate hate hate) neither Kenny, or Jane will have much life in season 3. That leaves Clementine completely alone. My guess is that the DLC will be you playing as the next major person that will be in her life. Christa, or Lilly. I think it's more likely to be Christa as Clementine likes her, and she lost her baby. With the loss of her baby she will have a stronger connection to AJ. To me the pieces seem to fit together. Also Christa was separated from Clementine while being chased by those guys. The story will probably be of her escaping from them, and her survival during the time Clementine was with the others. It will end around the same time season 2 ended. She might even find the body/bodies of Kenny/Jane which will have greater meaning to your choice in season 2.

  • I wouldn't be a big fan of that. One reason is because I think the ending decisions should mean something for Season 3 rather than DLC, but the other one is that I really dislike games that make you pay for the additional ending.

Basically you want to get the full ending? Then pay up more money. If Telltale did something like that it'd fire me up and make me less incline to give Season 3 a go.

  • Yeah, and it's not as if they've ever done that before is it? I mean, Kenny never came back in series 2 after his moment in Series 1.

It's to give us the illusion of choice.

  • I don't think it should have to do with anyone in the main story. Only reason being so that we have that same surprise that we got when we saw Kenny the first time in S2E2. Think about it: would you rather find Lily/Christa/Molly alive because Telltale made an announcement about them in a DLC, or stumble upon them in S3?

  • I was thinking again about this, and I came up with the idea of a different version of 400 Days, Cabin Group prequel DLC and their stories of how did they meet Carver and end up at Howes.

    • Carlos and Sarah

    • Alvin and Rebecca

    • Luke

    • Nick, his mom, Pete

    • Carver.

  • They could tie up all the loose ends and we could find out what happened to Christa and Lilly etc. I hope it's not a bunch of new characters who have no impact on S3 at all.
